Few days ago I read a ownership review of zmr 2014 from bike advice, there he told that he will be replacing the stock air filter with k&n rc 1060 performance filter.

            My question
            1) What is air filter ? Which portion of bike is it situated?
            2) Difference between stock filter and performance one?
            3) Will it affect performance? How much?
            4) Relivent air filter for zmr 2014? If I think of doing so in future.

Leave it stock. Don't mess with the stock bike unless you want to open the engine within 15000 kms.. for Indian bikes, these so called "Performance filters" do no good.

1 and 2. The Indian Roads are filled with dust and air pollution. The Stock filters do their job very well to filter out all those dust whereas the so called "Performance filters" don't filter the air as they have to in the Indian Roads.. they are good for foreign roads as they don't have as much dust/air pollution as in India and they are made according to the standards of their country.. Air filter is located on the left side panel.. remove the left side panel to access the air filter..
              3. The performance doesn't increase at all, it is just the mind play.
              4. Stock please unless you want to open the engine within 15000 kms and if you have a lot of money to spend on the engine

When it comes to air filter the name itself suggest dust , it must be getting dirty, isn't it? , so after how many kms should I replace it with another recommended filter for the bike? Can't it be cleanable instead of replacing?

even thoughit is recommended to replace every 10000km, i used to replace air and oil filter every 6000km...since my area is bit dusty i used to replace it sooner.
both will cost not more than Rs.250...!!
