That's because people log on to only seek advice when facing issues. For the rest, you have FB.

Ok. Let me start with something.

For almost an year I tried motul chain lube spray and I was pretty happy with it.

And then recently I HAD to try tribocor and it was pathetic. It splashes all across the rear, wheels etc. And after a day or two, it gets too sticky and makes the chain rigid. Motul is back in my bag.

Chain lube? Why do people invest so much on the stupid chain, save up for a new chain instead which comes up at 1.1k. The impact of chain life is negligible comparing the time and money spent.

I guess, normal chain oil splashes across the wheels and rear. I don't have the tyre hugger so, in two instances I have seen it on my pillion's clothes too. And I also heard that this may cause problem with rear disc too

Why running without the tire hugger? Debris is thrown up right against the rear panels. And if you're one among the adventurous lot then its just a matter of time until you'll be replacing the panels.

And regarding oil splashing use the right kind of oil, I shift between SAE90 and SAE120 gear oil based on where I'm lubing from(Have a bottle of 90 and 120 in KL and KA respectively) I let the rear wheel run in 1st gear and and lube from the outer top portion as its the safest and after a couple of minutes stop the motor and let it stay like that over night, the next day morning everything's fine and settled. Give it a shot.

P.S not intending to criticize your method or anything. Just want to inform you that there is a more cost and time effective alternative.

The right way is to lube the chain (with ignition OFF) by rotating the wheel with one hand and spraying with another. Give the whole chain a good shot and let the bike settle for 4-5 hours before moving out.
Spray and immediately move means no trace of lubing left within 10 min!

In that case, I always did it the wrong way.

Is it necessary to clean the chain before lubing it? And what is the approximate interval between the chain lubrication? I am sorry but I never gave this a serious thought before...

Divya would vouch by it, but I would say **** it. The pressure wash before every oil change is more than enough id say.

We can't clean the way Divya does [emoji1] , no wonder why his sprockets still running (super man's grandpa manufactured [emoji12] )

Just a basic clean should be good.

Clean once a month with chain cleaner and lube every 400 odd km. I do it weekly since I cover that distance every week to office.
Do it more frequently in rains. Both cleaning and lubing.

Thanks @Divya I wish I had known it when I still had my beloved Karizma... I will include cleaning in my monthly schedule and lubing in weekly schedule.

@ashwinprakas I will include cleaning due to the guilt feeling I have on not treating my Karizma well in the past...

Ya, I too clean it once in a week. U suggested kerosine, but I am using petrol. It does the job faster, readily available.
