But hero zonal head refuse this he says since they made changes in cam and piston they cannot use old head assembly. Old one they got stock but cannot be a direct fit. However I was spent a day today at SVC got head assembly changed with new one. The mechanic at svc claim the creeking noise is from front sprocket and it can be tuned. I am not sure on this. Any suggestion. And yes after changing rocker arm, cam and head assembly the bike feel better although vibe is exist.

I have a query (unrelated to the current discussion). psr sir, sibun sir and all other members, in the happier times we discussed about the top speed of ZMR v2 being 140ish.
Something struck me today. The gearing is all the same. It still does 16 kmph per 1000 RPM in 5th. Doesn't have a 6th cog. Redlines at 8200 RPM.

Wouldn't it have the same top end? Just that it would reach there faster. What have I missed?

Yeah you are right, but let me ask even though Unicorn and extreme share engine but extreme has better top speed and acceleration than unicorn. While unicorn uses 15/43 final drive to extreme's 14/43 final drive.

Even though the new ZMR has same gearing ratio, it makes more power and torque.

So by virtue of more power it will rev higher in fifth gear, and will hit the rev limiter which the old ZMR can't.

Your old ZMR will find it difficult to cross 8k rpm which makes it 8*16= 128 kph.

But by virtue of more power and torque the new ZMR revs till 8.6k rpm 8.6*16= 137.6 kph.

The same way as Unicorn finds it hard to touch 8.5 k rpm while it makes max power at 8k rpm, extreme crosses 9k rpm, while it makes power at 8.5k rpm.

You will not believe but i have touch 122-123 kph true speed on extreme.

Divya Sharan.....just like Sibun Ji said, the new configuration of ZMA/ZMR makes it produce 2.5 Bhp more which helps the bike to reach higher top speeds. The Electronic Rev limiter for both model is set approximately at 9~9.5 K RPM. While the older engine can not reach it (except Downhill) the top speed was limited...

Till 3rd gear yes. Doubtful about 4th. 5th absolutely has no chance with stock internals.

Thanks a lot. That sure was helpful I don't think I want to mess with the internals

Upto 4th gear it is possible to touch rev limiter RPM..if you want to touch 9~9.5 K RPM on 5th you have to overbore to 67mm and increase power...Mr.Arun aka ACS had done it, but I don't think he had touched the rev limiter RPM on 5th..Otherwise going 3 tooth more on rear sprocket or 1 tooth less on front sprocket will enable you to touch 9 K Rpm on 5th.

but by doing this, aren't we going to lose top end? of course, the acceleration would be far better

Yes...The final drive ratio in chain and sprocket is being reduced.....Or else go for overbore version...from CRFs Only with Weisco piston kit..CRF's Only - Your source for Honda CRF information, performance prodcuts, parts, and accessories better still get the NEW ZMA/ZMR piston with high compression which will give you approximately 1 bhp bump.

Open the chain covers and front sprocket
Remove the chain
Clean with diesel
Spray wd40 on the chain links
clean both sprockets with diesel
and put back the chain
grease it
Use 2T oil to lubricate as well

also i would suggest you to keep the engine oil drain interval at 1000 kms

I being cheap would just pressure wash it and then go with SAE grade oil.

More usable rev range and torque, top end would be more or less the same, only thing being you would be doing it at a higher RPM.

He had reverted back to stock after a spirited hill run. Assuming that the gun metal bushes gave away(P220 17mm, ZMA 15mm gudgeon eye), causing play leading to his cylinder getting scarred.

But still I am not satisfied. It preform well in downhill surface and disaster in uphill roads.
Also I doubt that front sprocket has issue.

Is any senior guys help me from Bangalore. I could bring my bike for inspection on weekend days.
I tried to drag the bike at 50kmph in second gear but it struggled a lot anything above 40kmph and engine tone become very harsh after this incident the engine tone changed little and vibes at neutral.

I feel bike sluggish no feel of power and torque that it has on paper.
Other end svc blame on hero on design and modification. But I notice a strange thing. Bike feel smooth when when air filter box make loosen and let breath extra.
