help... feeling strange loss of power when throttling, then sudden bursts... any idea what might be the cause...
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle :)

Check air filter for dirt , drain the carburettor 200ml appox, dirt and sediments may jam it, clean the spark plug, check throttle play, and tune the carb to its original setting. Never tinkle with a carb unless necessary. You can check your spark plug and judge whether the bike is running lean or wet, if spark plug is brown-ish dry then you are getting best mileage, if spark plug is wet and black then you need to decrease fuel flow to increase mileage.

Well took the baby for a pretty long trip, Kochi - Dhanushkodi. It was around 1000km round trip. I have to say Gixi preformed very well. I easily cruised around 100-110kmph on Madhrai - Rameswaram Highway (NH-49, straight 168km highway). Never had any body pain or anything like that (I don't used backpack). Single day we have covered almost 450km and still neither me or Gixi wasn't tired . Major problem I felt was wind blast. During high speed cruising it was horrible when a bus or lorry passes near by. Too much wind blast. Have to prepare for this, else you will be gone out of control. Second one is not major issue but it is the fuel tank capacity :P. Need to refill it here and there always. Tyres are excellent. Performed very well in sand (yes we took our ride to the edge of India, 16km away from Sri Lanka). Over all a great experience. My bike is 4 months/6300km old & I was running on Motul synthetic 20w50 engine oil. I have to say this engine oil performed very well in keeping engine cool & smooth. (talking based on long trip experiences I have with stock engine oil). Mileage returned was 44kmpl. Sharing some pics

Guys, isn't this fast paced upgradations worrying the existing owners? It isn't even a year and my bike already feels obsolete. There are new colour schemes, clear type indicators and a faired version too! Obviously the company is on a joy ride, but introducing new models so soon might affect the loyalty of its customers. What do you people think?

Well the upgrade to rear disk is what they should have given to existing customers for 5k . Sf was just a faired version like fazer. We all knew fairing will come. But rear disk should have been implemented before launching the bike. Every customer of fz complained about rear brakes, Suzuki just copied fz and made it better, should have included rear disk too. Let's fire up email that we want rear disk as an accessory to them. At least we got a thousand owners here I guess, why not give it a try??

Yup lets try it. Complain email id? One think to ask. For a new customer they also have to give extra money to get that rear disk or it is default? If it is coming by default then i judt Want to say WTF [emoji37] [emoji37] [emoji37] [emoji37] [emoji37] [emoji37]

Hehe, I don't think you can expect an upgrade to rear disc on a bike having drum brakes for 5k. The first thing that needs to be changed on existing bikes to accomodate a rear disk is the rear rim.. Which itself is around 4k for the gixxer if im not wrong. Then Comes cost of the disc plate + brake caliper + brake line + brake pads, brake fluids, brake fluid container(comparetively not much) + brake fluid pump which attaches to the brake lever..
8-10k is what it will actually cost to upgrade. Also, [MENTION=51893]ever[/MENTION]yone, if you use the 70front:30rear braking rule then I think a rear drum will suffice.. Better option is to spend the extra money on some riding gear :P

You are right but they are supposed take back the rim, swingarm and all that's necessary to replace for the disk to fit in, so one is returning his rim and parts to the company, so it would reduce the cost to 5k I guess

Also if you sell your own rim (supposed to be in excellent condition) and the other parts, won't you get some good cash ?? Also can't we just change the rim in showroom with a disk brake variant rim and tell them to sell my old rim at a good price/as a warranty replacement to some other guy, you know if u got that good rapport with them 😁 just thinking 😛

I think that is pretty much possible but trust me for a 150cc bike drum and disk works better than both disk.I loved the rear drum brake on my previous pulsar and trust me I miss it.once you have disk you will start to crave for drum brake on the rear.on panic situations we sometimes over press the rear.if its drum it will help u more and won't cause any skidding but such is not the case with disk

I too had a pulsar 150, rear brakes were good, only because the tires were skinny, fat tires need bigger drums but these carry same as that of thin tires , see Divya Bhai has a zmr rear disk, he tours in a rear disk that too in a 100/80 tire 🙌, its all about experience, once u ride a abs you won't buy disk, once u ride disk, you won't buy drum. Simple as that

Check list depends on how long you are going. Here what I did,

                                * Take chain lube with you.
                                * Change the engine oil to deal with high temperature and high RPM cruising. In my case I changed my engine oil to Motul 20w50 (7100) synthetic oil before the trip. Change the oil filter along with it. Get a spare oil filter and keep it with you (just in case). Do the oil change to synthetic only if you are beyond 5k KM on ODO. Suzuki recommends to use stock engine oil upto 5k KM. If you are on stock engine oil, avoid non stop cruising. I try to take a stop in maximum of every 200km if possible.
                                * Check tyre pressures before you start.

I haven't done anything other than this. Changing the engine oil part really helped me well. Thanks to my expert tourer friend . Rest of the check lists are common like helmet, gloves, jacket, bungee ropes..etc. Don't carry your back pack on your shoulder. Ride freely & safely.

Suzuki Gixxer is a excellent machine, it gives confidence to take it to any extend. Happy riding
