Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Got my RC390 a week ago.Have ridden it for 100kms.One thing which i can say for sure is that gearbox is quite accurate and not clunky.Coming from ZMR , i get to neutral everytime i want. Also again in comparison to ZMR,the vibrations are very low or not there below 7000 rpm for now.Originally posted by Mayankisme View PostLast edited by Deto; 03-20-2017, 11:34 AM.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
What I would suggest is, get a quotation of the parts to be replaced from your service center. They would then send that quotation to the insurance office, and a person from the office comes, inspects and then reimuburses the amount. Now, if you add in your third party spares, you'd have to shell out more and upon final inspection, if the inspector finds anything duly, it would cause needless redtape.Originally posted by Rattletop View PostGuys, I met with a minor crash and have the left side of the bike damaged quite a bit. I got the rc390 back in october and wanted to know how to go about claiming the insurance on this? I bought the bike from sec 18 noida. Would it be a cashless claim? the damages include - The left clip-on bent, left footpeg damage, left mirror broke and front brake not working(think brake fluid cylinder fell off). Minor scratches on left fairing.
Please advise. Also was thinking maybe just maybe i should use third-party clip-ons for my bike. If I get it would the service center install these or are they authorized only to use and work on ktm parts? If so could anyone suggest a good shop in NCR to get the third-party clip-ons fitted?
The best way to go in such instances is to claim insurance, get them installed on the bike, get reimbursed and then think of other modifications. But, try not to modify during the repair process itself.
Tak sound? Did you mean the "thud" sound every time you engage to first gear and second from standstill or when decelerating is absolutely normal. When on the move, usually the gear shifts almost perfectly with a click. Yes, you can try adjusting the tie rod for making the shift quality smooth. Unless and until you have gear slotting issues, where even though you apply pressure and the lever just springs back without slotting, then we have trouble. As long as the gear shifts and slots in properly as it is supposed to do, I don't think we have to worry.Originally posted by Mayankisme View PostClunky gearbox- Especially the first gear. 9 outta 10 times it will not shift properly and makes the irritating "tak" sound. Need to adjust the play.
Tandoori days! The bike heats up a lot in b2b traffic. That's alright but the fan which kicks in makes lot of noise. If you are in a mall/ covered parking, the noise amplifies t.

New KTM RC390 (2017) HELP!
Guys I need help from members here who have purchased KTM RC390 MY 2017. It is related to speedometer. The average fuel economy reading under trip 1 and trip 2 readings is displayed wrong. Please have a look in the below picture.
I have raised a complaint in KTM service - Noida and also spoke with the Area Mgr, all of whom say 0.2 kmpl Avg. F.E is not wring as there is a can bus change. I find it to be faulty hence request people who own the new one to share pic, which I could use as proof or a contact of Bajaj KTM R&D personnel.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
The throttle wire broke up just now while I was overtaking cars on 3rd gear. Had witnessed this once in Pulsar 220 few years ago so I quickly rectified why suddenly my wrist twisted so freely.
Luckily i was just 2.5km away from home and KTM can run without throttle in 1st - 2nd gear at good 17-18kmph of speed itself. So back to home safely without dragging the bike.
Will take the the bike to svc tomorrow, but do they cover this in warranty?
P.S. : I know it might be 300-400₹ only but why should I pay if it's coming under warranty somehow.First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

Re: New KTM RC390 (2017) HELP!
Accelerator cable comes under wear and tear parts and claiming insurance for a 400 rupee part are you gonna reduce the IDV value of your motorcycle, over the long run. Replacing consumables from out of pocket is part of the package, if there was ever a insurance claim, then people would claim for brake pads, clutch plates etc etc.Originally posted by Sird View PostThe throttle wire broke up just now while I was overtaking cars on 3rd gear. There is absolutely no problem in your bike. As a matter of fact, KTM have changed the display on some aspects like font size and where certain parameters are displayed when compared to old bike. So, if you compare this to the old bikes you won't get good night's sleep. Even Schumi from Overdrive mentioned these changes. CAN BUS has nothing to do with it, your dealer is probably just gibbering something that came to his mind. Either way, as long as the reading is correct with respect to the time taken riding the bike, it's not a problem.Originally posted by ride2live View PostGuys I need help from members here who have purchased KTM RC390 MY 2017. Hi VJ, thanks for your reply. Yes I agree that a lot has changed in the speedometer as compared to the previous model.
My concern is that, 0.2 kmpl average F.E (and not instantaneous F.E) over 45 kms does not sound right. The instantaneous F.E option (similar to cars) is under odo and works just fine.

Hey there fellow RC390 MY 2017. A reply to your concern-Originally posted by Deto View PostGot my RC390 a week ago.Have ridden it for 100kms.One thing which i can say for sure is that gearbox is quite accurate and not clunky.Coming from ZMR , i get to neutral everytime i want. Also again in comparison to ZMR,the vibrations are very low or not there below 7000 rpm for now.
1. Vibration- it will subside drastically once you get the firat service done, in which they will put in Motul 7100 fully synthetic oil. The current engine oil is mineral oil and helps in run in procedure.
A request- can you put up a pic of your trip1 or trip2 AVG F.E reading. My bike shows 0.2 kmpl even after riding 45 kms and i find it to be an issue. Thanks in advance
(P.S: RC390 MY2017, Feb 25 purchase. 1st service done on 21 Mar 17)

The gearbox slots perfectly. Earlier, the "thud" sound which I reported, figured out that it is a normal thing with "higher capacity bikes".Originally posted by ride2live View PostGuys I need help from members here who have purchased KTM RC390 MY 2017. Yes, even I am not able to understand 0.2 km/l thing. Need to look deeper into it. Haven't fiddled with the speedometer yet.

Are you getting the same kind of readings in your bike too?Originally posted by Mayankisme View PostThe gearbox slots perfectly. Earlier, the "thud" sound which I reported, figured out that it is a normal thing with "higher capacity bikes".

I am facing these issues apart from the occasional auto reboot the speedo does when I am riding the bike ( long and short rides both).

Re: New KTM RC390 (2017) HELP!
Yes sir. Have checked with couple of other riders too, its same with them. And the otherone, autoreboot? Not exactly but during the first few days, as I slotted into 6th the speedo used to rollback to 0 kmph and then after few second displayed the proper speed. This doesn't happen anymore.Originally posted by ride2live View PostAre you getting the same kind of readings in your bike too?

Guess will have to insist the service manager to get intouch with R&D and explain how to go about the same issue. I will update here if I get to know anything from them.
Till then Happy riding!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
It normally won't be covered under warranty.. (maybe if the bike was say a couple of days old).Originally posted by Sird View PostWill take the the bike to svc tomorrow, but do they cover this in warranty?

No harm asking them though.. especially if you have a good rapport with the svc
Did it snap at the handlebar end or the clutch cover end ?
