      Hey guys!
      Have a doubt!
I got my first service done wen I completed 900kms wen they changed oil n oil filter, chain cleaned n lubed.. Now I have completed around 1800kms,the engine oil colour had changed to pure black.. As yall kno 2nd service is after completing 3500kms..i don't kno
wat to do till then should I wait for the service to change oil n oil filter.. And what about the chain cleaning n lube.. Should I do any of these till the second service or wat..?
      Thanks in advance

That is normal. Engine oil will change colour to black/darkest brown within few hundred kms of riding - this is because, #1, it mixes with some amount of old oil in the engine while replacement (So one will never get to see crystal clear oil unless we overhaul the engine). #2, its main duty apart from lubrication is to suspend and contain various contaminants (most of them byproducts of combustion inside the chamber) like carbon/soot, etc. Black oil doesn't mean it has got bad, but do keep an eye for engine roughness, feel, gearshift quality, etc.

Next time, when taking delivery from SVC after a service, just casually look at the oil level sight glass to make sure they have changed the oil. Again after a few hundred kms, it will start turning to brown, browni-est and then blackish.

Usually, people say a mineral oil is good for 2500-3000 kms or 5-6 months whichever is earlier. Change oil filter with every change rather than the recommended alternate changes. A semi-synthetic, IMO, won't be much different because the percentage of synthetic part is very less. Most of us change between 2500-3000 kms for a mineral, some at 1800 kms if they do prolonged highway runs. I can't comment on FS oils, haven't used/will not use them.

If the vehicle is in warranty, just follow the recommended schedule till warranty is over. Mostly SVC will fill up Motul/Idemitsu 10W-40 that can easily hold up to 3000 kms.

              Chain Lube/Cleaning:

Definitely yes because the recommended general service interval is 4000 kms - No chain can afford to be dirty and un-lubricated for that long. For best life of O-ring chains, even the o-rings have to be cleaned and kept "wet". If one allows for dirt to accumulate, the coarse sand particles, like Pinaki once said will form a grinding paste and that itself will eat the rings. Search DIY/Universal threads on how to clean/lube a chain.

These SVC guys asked 200rs just for chain lubing on my 2nd free service. Is it not covered under normal service?

Simply put, it's a city commuter.

There are people who did long rides on 100cc motorcycles.

Yes,thats the case with me too... Apparently it's not covered but compulsory every 1k kilometers... And according to them, doing it on your own spoils the chain.. I just gave up arguing with them🙈😂

Yes they can charge you for the consumable. But 200rs is too much. Ask them to give break-up
At the Suzuki SCV that I go, they charge 75 rs each for cleaning and lubing, and this is inclusive of tax, the consumables (lube and cleaning solution), and labour. So total of 150 if I do both

Its very good for long rides... You won't feel any back pain or vibration..

I have done 5 long trips in last 3 months.

                            2 times 300kms (one way)
2 times 450kms (two way single stretch)
                            1 time 500kms.

To hell with those SVC guys. I decided to clean n lube my baby myself. Got Motul c2 and WD40. Those will last me a year at least.

Also got wax shiner and dashboard polish. Now the bike looks new and glossy like a brand new bike after every wash.
