How many kilometers have you done? I too had all these issues. Engine became rough, the sound of the engine changed a lot and there were many false neutrals b/w 3rd and 4th gear and the gears were also hard. That's when i thought of going with synthetic oil another main reason was long change interval. After that the bike felt marvelous for few kilometers and then i get this weird smell and engine does not feel as smooth as it was. I think there is some manufacturing defect with my bike clutch plate but i am not able to state the issue. There is only ASC in my area the next one is about 400KMS from my place, the nearest service center has just 1 answer for every query, that is "it is suppose to be like that." Just check with the ASC about the issue and as for the hard gear shift some part was changed but i don't know what it is called. After changing the part i am having much smoother gear shifts now. I had completed 4000 kms, and the weird burning smell is from the clutch plate only as per my knowledge. Because engine oil level is up to the mark. And the engine is heating to a great extent even after a 5 km run at just speed of 50-55. I will be visiting the svc in a moment and will update after the visit.

Do let me know what the ASC have to say about this issue. I think there is some major defect with clutch assembly.

If I am not wrong you are using 300V. That oil does not have a long change interval. Its interval is the same as a mineral or SS oil. Theres a reason why 7100 exists along with the 300V. Theres also a reason why 300V is called as a track only oil.

I have completed 10k kms recently. After a short ride in the rain, theres the occasional burning smell from the engine compartment. My service is due next week wherein I will be getting the bike thoroughly serviced to factory condition.

If you think something is wrong with the clutch plate, then shoot Suzuki an Email and wait for them to respond. You will not find any better or satisfactory answers here since most people here dont seem to have experienced it yet.

I hardly rode 600KMS on 300v, never crossed 5k rpm in this time span. The color of the oil is still retained, thats why the oil change interval is out of my concern for now. Before coming to the conclusion that clutch assembly or something is faulty, what all things do i need to check or what are symptoms of faulty clutch? Shall i go to service center and ask them check clutch assembly for that smell? Because they will say its fine nothing to worry about. The only reason for which i think the clutch plates are faulty is because they were bit dry when the last time service center guy opened the clutch cover.

Need some help there is a weird burning smell coming from my bike after riding it for few kilometers. I hardly redline the bike usually i ride the bike between 4-5k rpm. Even a 10min ride brings up the smell. In this small time span i don't think the engine could produce so much heat to heat up the fairing.so i don't think fairing is the culprit here. Is it same for everyone's bike or there is a problem with the bike?

Its natural..... its engine oil burning smell. Every bike gets it sometimes when run and engine heating is normal too. Dnt worry, just check if the engine doesn't heats up too mch. If yo still tensed, get it checked from a nearest suzuki svc at instant after running the bike for long time.

                Rife safe.

Now i get it why theres such prob.
The culprit is 300v. U see 300v is recommended for high displacement engines and provides superior performance and yo wont find any side effects.

As for our bike, a 155cc powered "sporty look" bike is incompatible to use 300v.

I hav experimented 300v once on my sf, ........and the p/c :

Pros: super smooth engine, good pickup, smooth gear shifts, bassy sound, felt like a track bike... It was like riding the nimbus cloud

Cons: all the pros lasted up to 900 kms. After 900, lost pickup....loss power in gear 4th gear, rough engine, engine heating, burning smell, worst exhaust sound.....it was like kicked off from the same cloud

Went to svc, changed to motul 7100 full synthetic oil (i use 10w40 grade recommended by svc, ask ur svc which grade is recommended n use that grade only) and change interval 4k kms. its near to same performance as 300v but no side effects. Now am happy.

I recommend 7100 to u and giveup 300v. If its not available at svc, purchase outside/online.
                          Avoid idemitsu oil.

(Note: use 950 ml oil when using new oil filter and 850 ml when using old/ existing one)

Some others may say 300 will do, but for your engine to perform good in the long run, use only whats recommended.

Note: the answer i said earlier is correct too in burning smell cases. But to ur problems, this is the exact answer.

                          Ride safe. God bless[emoji41]

I agree on fact what you told about 300v but the smell use to come while using motul mineral oil also and the engine was also rough.

There is no loss of power as of now, it is much refined than before but whenever i decelerate i hear some faulty bearing sound from the front part, the sound is bassy like you mentioned, its 1100KMS since i changed the oil to 300v.

You may be right but i think there is also something else. Please see my previous post regarding clutch plates being dry and tell what you think about that. And i'll do as you suggested, will give the bike long run and go to service center and see what they have to say about the smell and that extra sound.

Last week I went for my fourth service. I noticed the newer 2017 BS-4 models in their showroom closely this time around. The whole swing-arm -> rear wheel offset issue is becoming fishy to me. It seems the rear wheel / swing-arm of the newer BS-4 models are in perfect alignment with the tail light / fender tip unlike my BS-3. I wonder what should be done. Should I slap a mail to Suzuki to claim warranty or just ignore this.

Thanks for your response. My area manager made a detailed FTR and sent it to Suzuki. We are awaiting for a response which will most probably arrive by next week.

Most people seem to be ignoring it because I believe they dont spend much time with their GSX to notice it in the first place. I am hoping for a decent solution. If they cant provide one then I will want them to send me an official email that it cannot be corrected. That will calm my nerves and help me move on.
