    Today going for carb rejetting with zma main and pilot jet and clip adjustment of jet needle.

    i will post pics from other angle soon.the fairing and rim was painted in red which cost 1000 rs(i asked the mod guy to paint in orange similar to tank color and he assured me that the color will match 99% of the tank color. but he finally painted red and debated that its same as tank color BEWARE OF MOD GUYS )

      I wonder why your battery has not drained out yet. I am sure that is not far away. Anyways to convert gs to full dc, first we need to remove the coil and remove the grounds (in the coil) and connect to each other. Replace the stock rr unit with customized rr or ape rr unit for better charging. Note that stock rr is ac/dc one and not full dc. Therefore only changing the wiring would not work fully. After these works connect a hid and enjoy. For wiring you should contact an experienced auto electrician. This job should be easy for people in major cities. Specially bangalore guys. There is one ruby automobiles who does these jobs. Raj

        @mach50: hello there can u please suggest us how to increase the power of charging the battery in our gs. i think its hard to convert our gs to full dc so m too planning to do an extra wiring direct from the batt to use projectors..so if we can increase the charging power than the batt should work fine, i guess..what do u say on this???thanks.

        • I am using HID for last 4-5 months. I am reposting my reply:

          GS has a 9AH battery (new one has 7AH). The charging of battery is done by the engine, which varies with the speed. With higher rpms, the charging is fast, with lower, slow. I read in a thread about battery, that for Unicorn, at 4.5k rpm the battery charging rate matched with battery discharge by HID. Therefore, if you are going to use HID on highways/ghaats/even city roads where the rpms can be around 4.5k, the battery won't get roasted. BUT, you shouldn't then press the battery for other DC needs, like starter or even pilot lamps. My suggestions:

          1. Connect HID to DC power supply coming to headlight console (the mech will do it)
          2. Disconnect the stock pilot lamps, and replace them by LEDs, so that you can use it in city, where you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic.
          3. Don't your the starter, use kick to start the bike. Starter pulls a lot of current from battery.
          4. Use the HIDs prudently, switch them off when not needed, NEVER use them as light source when bike is off.

          I fitted HIDs some months ago, and did quite a few night trips lasting 1-2 hours. Each time I thanked the HID to provide me true lighting, and not just a bright candle. Even yesterday, on Satara - Pune highways where cagers drive as if they are playing videogames and bikes and other small vehicles are constantly pushed out of the way big monkeys in bigger vehicles, HID saved me a lot of problems because of the light provided. On Highways, it is a must. Forget other mods if you are a night rider, first save money and go for HID!

          Lastly, I understand this is not THE best solution for HIDs, and perhaps what few others are doing, rewinding and APE RR and all is the best way. But I don't think any mechanic in Pune/Mumbai knows this stuff, and already have wasted far too much time searching on them. It just scares me that the non-knowledgeable mechanic may play with my bike's circuitery and may create problems in future. True, the battery may conk off a little early, but better the battery than the bike, and certainly not my life!

          • 900 ml oil and sounds

            Previously and now am using motul oil only.

            I am sure before oil change even after crossing 2500 kms the sound was cool.

            Done oil change 10 or 12 days back, but I filled only 900 ml instead of 1 Litter.

            Bike is good smooth but I feel the sound volume is bit increased I think its due to the extra 100ml space is left for the air in engine

            So do I have to add 100ml oil to bring back the sound to normal.

            Thinking about adding mak 4t 100ml.

            Suggestions please

              My GS is 5months old and yesterday all of sudden my Clutch wire was broken. I replace it with a local one, which was adjusted for time being function. How can this happen? Do suzuki really supply cheep products?

              • ^^^Since the discussion going on is related to headlight, i would like to draw your attention here.
                I too faced difficulty at night riding in gsr. The focus is unclear, and wide so even splendor and other 100 cc bikes headlight too focus better.
                i dealt it with myself by adjusting the screw behind headlight assembly, and the results are satisfactory though not ultimate.
                i want to replace the bulb with silverstar of osram. today i visited a bike accessories shop, and asked for silverstar, but he doesnt know about it, instead showed some xenon blue colored bulb(pic posted below, a mobile click indoor light so very unclear)which he told bought by many pulsar owners. the price is 280 Rs. However i didnot buy it, but taken a pic and thought to get opinion in this forum. The pack says High intensity discharge lamp, 12v, 35w/35w.
                so is it worth buying this bulb?

                  I dont know too much about these bulbs but i dont think the bulb is a xenon bulb. The xenon bulbs never come at such a low price. Before using these bulbs with bluish light think twice. It can cost you a few fines & it also disturbs the vision of the rider coming from front by producing glare in his eyes.


                  You better get your coil rewinded & then you can fit a 55w bulb & it will not attract any fines.

                    i am using iikado 35/35w 1600 rs.. it is good but not as much illumination i expected for an HID

                    The complete karizma fairing with fitting cost me 4.5k, painting 500 rs. the fairing will be welded to the tank at the sides and to front part of tank through a rod which goes thru the gap b/w the front forks... so weling part will look ugly but you can do some decorations or some radium work.

                    Also the electrical wiring and connections in the headlight and odo looks messy (didnt do anythin abt it till now). thought of puttin a plastic cover plate but it seems to affect the turn raddius of handle bar.


                    The console is same as GS. it will be fitted in the karizma fairing.

                      For rejetting mach bhai and others suggested to go for rtr180 main jet and p180 needle jet..

                      Is there any particular reason behind this.. why cant i go for either pilot jet, needle jet, main jet of RTR180 or similarly pilot jet, needle jet, main jet of p180 as a complete set?
                      i could not find the jet spares of zma in any HH spare part dealer in whole hyderabad(i checked all) it seems it will take more than a week..

                      so planning to get the all three jet spares of rtr180 or p180.. is it advisable to go for all 3 jets from either rtr or p180??

                      Mach bhai or others please help..I need rejetting ASAP since my engine is heating up badly

                          today went to Sc discussed the mods, they took a test ride and appreciated the very light feeling of GS handle.. i told about the filter refitting and asked them to tune the carb and rejet it. the SC guy was very knowledgeable and suggested to go and get the main jet (125 mm) and pilot jet (35 mm) of karizma (GS pilot jet is 15 mm and main jet is 110 mm. i verified this by checking service manual at SC today). he also said both have same needle jet sizes and the role of needle jet is minimal and only the jet needle plays a bigger role. he said he can adjust the clip level in the jet needle to make it richer. i was really astonished by the knowledge level of the SC head since he suggested exactly wat i wanted

                          Tom going to buy main jet 150 rs and pilot jet 250 rs and gonna fit it in SC tomorrow. will post review tomorrow

                                I wont buy those blue bulbs. But i searched almost stores here in mangalore, they don't even know a bulb named silverstar
                                so i think i need to search it in bangalore, may be ill get it there. so guys from bangalore may know where this bulb is available...help please.
