Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
They are different in their own ways, but their gearing is relatively the same. I've ridden the hornet enough to say that both of them have nearly the same gearing. Both of them will touch the following speeds if you max out every gear-Originally posted by Preshit View PostOkay. But both are different in their own way.
1 - 50
2 - 80
3 - 105
4 - 117
Which is awfully similar to the max speed in each gear on the Duke 390.

Okay bro but i never stress 1st more than 15kmph , 2nd more than 27 Kmph and 3rd more than 40 because if i manage to accelarate more than these speed limits it makes awful noise that is not acceptable.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostThey are different in their own ways, but their gearing is relatively the same. I dont know when my bike will become smooth or it will remain as it is! But i also face the problem , when i start my bike on first gear the pickup is bad and at 15kmph it vibes a lot

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
That's true though. The first 2 gears don't go beyond 25-30 without making a lot of sound. You have to learn to shift optimally. This is what I have felt to be the best shifting pattern.
1 - 10-15
2 - 25-30
3 - 35-40
4 - 45-50
5 - 60+
Don't worry, the engine will smoothen out over time. If you are facing any issues, go to the SVC and pester them until they listen to you.Last edited by Shashank K R; 03-22-2017, 10:48 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Svc guys dont even understood difference between synthetic oil and mineral oil. They seems to be very dumb. Today i spoke with two to three mechanics there as i have to put my bike for 2nd service, i ask one of them to use synthetic oil for servicing , he dont even know what does it means
Another guy i said use synthetic oil he said ok we will use it and when i asked how much it will cost then he said 330
, Where as i think synthetic oil is much costlier than 330 Rs ? Such a dumb people at svc and when i got my bike back i hear certain vibrations and lack of smoothness as it was before. Whereas it was not at all the case after my 1st service, i was satisfied by 1st service but not at all after 2nd service

I'm honestly not surprised ! You should check out how they staff the crew. This is why I don't trust any service centers in general. I've always tried to have a talk with mechanic and if he seemed confidence-inspiring, then only I'd leave my bike with him. And trust me, after having owned like 5-6 bikes of various brands, I've not yet met ONE such mechanic in the official service center.Originally posted by Preshit View PostSvc guys dont even understood difference between synthetic oil and mineral oil. This is when I decided to look for an mechanic with GOOD knowledge, and who'd respond to my dimwit questions in an enlightening fashion. So now I go to a garage, co-owned by two automobile engineers
, going to give my Hornet to those guys for first servicing too (voiding the warranty of course)

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Ask them to pour cbr oil. They are not technically sound but knows what oil is used in cbr. Once I asked them to pour honda throttle oil and they started changing my throttle cable. Than I showed them name mentioned on oil bottle.Originally posted by Preshit View PostSvc guys dont even understood difference between synthetic oil and mineral oil. They seems to be very dumb. Once in while stressing is ok. You bike is new, stick with break-in and don't stress more. Over the time, engine will get polished properly with your to your riding style.
My bike FS Motul and I can sometime go on 60Kmph in 3rd grear without any girding or noise. It also feels good with throttle response and engine thump at high speed and low gear after 5K rpm.------------------
