Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
As far as I know ABS is still not launched in India. If the bike owner is saying you about this then either he is not owner or he should not own the bike.Originally posted by fiero02 View PostLast edited by Logan01; 10-21-2016, 11:15 PM.Once there was a man and a Bike....

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Even I also had this and visited the asc just on the 3rd day of purchase. The mechanic just sprayed the chain lube on the chain and the sound vanished after 2-3 kms of riding. I have clocked some 250kms by than, so the mechanic told me that the chain should be fine till the 1st service(750km). But the noise started again after 450kms on the odo, so visited the asc again and purchase the TVS chain lubricant. Sprayed it at home and that noise again vanished.Originally posted by Dovahkiin View PostI am more concerned about the apparent loud chain noise on the bike (especially noticeable at slow speeds..though the exhaust note is awesome). It seems to coming from around the front sprockets and sounds just like a cycle chain when coasting. I have ordered the Motul chain cleaner and lube from Amazon and plan to proactively maintain the chain hoping to resolve this. Has anyone else noticed this on their bikes?
The asc guys are saying that chain would require lubing after every 600-700 kms , but my bike's chain is needing it after every 200-250 kms.
Other than this the bike really is a gem [emoji4]
BTW I have clocked 1200kms in 10 days [emoji41]Last edited by jatinarya; 10-22-2016, 12:23 AM.Safety is a Cheap and Effective Insurance Policy !!!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Well I guess it may be due to the quality of the chain lube at the ASC. That's why I have gone for purchasing the Motul one from Amazon. Hopefully it will be an original product and will solve the issue for me too.Originally posted by jatinarya View PostEven I also had this and visited the asc just on the 3rd day of purchase. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Last I checked, abs /FI has not been made available in India yet on the RTR 200.Originally posted by fiero02 View PostHi guys,
Which Showroom did you buy RTR 200 in Bangalore. I am searching in each showroom in east Bangalore all are saying it is not available and also still no FI\ABS version launched yet in Bangalore. I met couple of guys with RTR 200 on road in Bangalore, they had ABS with FI, but all where from other states.

My bike has wires in similar position.Originally posted by nmshah22 View PostWhile checking the engine oil level saw some wiring on the upper right hand side of the engine dip stick. It's easily accessible and can be tampered with. Just want to confirm wether everybody has similar wires.

Mine is also same. I thought it is like that only, as the speedometer wiring clip is also there and it was disconnected when i got the bike. I myself connected the clip there after confirming with the mechanic. Thats when i got to know that we can disconnect the clip and ride the bike anywhere without KMs been counted.

Yes everyone would have the similar wires , just pull that rubber/polymer type cover downward and wires won't be seen any more [emoji4]

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
OK noob questions from my end.
1. How long do you guys use the choke for? Is it enough if I use it while warming up the engine?
2. Could you tell me the speed at which you guys shift up gears? I know you need to do this keeping in mind where the engine produces most power in rev band but what about during the run in period.
And I think the chain noise on my bike has increased considerably. Even with a Mt blade helmet on I can hear it quite well.Last edited by Dovahkiin; 10-22-2016, 06:29 PM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
I've heard TVS is purposefully lagging FI/ABS so as to comply with the latest bharat stage emission standards which is going to be set next year. If that's the case, FI is gonna come only in April next year. Somebody please confirm this. I'm devastated in hearing this😭Originally posted by ALI.R View PostLast I checked, abs /FI has not been made available in India yet on the RTR 200.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
This might be the case. However, the flagship version with Abs/FI/Pirelli is already being exported. I've come across couple of owners in the forums somewhere based in Indonesia. If the emission norms are being met there, then there is no reason for TVS to hold back deliveries in India. Here, even the Pirelli tyre option is rarely available!Their priorities seem messed up.Originally posted by clonechill View PostI've heard TVS is purposefully lagging FI/ABS so as to comply with the latest bharat stage emission standards which is going to be set next year. To answer your questions:Originally posted by Dovahkiin View PostOK noob questions from my end.

1. I start my bike daily with the help of the choke. Sometimes it takes multiple starts but I refrain from using the accelerator till my fifth or sixth attempt, it usually starts in 2 attempts. I use it for a duration of about 60-90 secs. Post that, the whole day, my bike starts with just a touch of a button.
2. I ride in 2 modes, mentally. During eco mode, when there's no hurry, I shift at around 4k which feels very comfortable in terms of power and speed. During sports mode, when I'm in a hurry or I'm out on the highway, I shift at 7-8k RPM as I don't want to over stress the engine and red line it. During the run in period, I used to shift at 4-4.5k RPM and was riding around 50kmph and varying speeds and RPM at every given and right opportunities.
The chain noise is an issue, I'm facing it too. A good chain lube should sort you out. There's nothing to stress about.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
First service done at 475 kms. Bike feels good now. I was facing some sound like a squeak.. at service they said everything had been lubed, but the sound continues. Anyone know what it can be. It comes while pushing the vehicle or riding out in first / second gear.
@ dovakhlin. Am starting the day with choke only.. Bike start at first attempt and as the RPM starts rising i off the choke. Being still in running period, gears need be shifted by 4 k RPM as post that it feels harsh.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
1. I use the choke daily on the first start of the day,i.e., usually at 8am for atleast a minute and then keep the bike idle for 30-40sec without the choke. Rest of the day it starts on a single push without the choke. But if your bike remains off for 8-9 hours then I recommend the use of choke at that time also.Originally posted by Dovahkiin View PostOK noob questions from my end.

My bike usually starts on the first push(sometimes second) during the first start with choke and I lives in Ramnagar(Uttarakhand) where winter started arriving. So if yours doesn't start in one or two try than try to adjust the idle rpm at 1200.
2. Till the 1st service the manual states the maximum 50km/h speed which the bike attained at 4000 rpm in 5th gear, so untill the 1st service is done I shifts every gear near the 4k rpm(crossed it 3-4 times just to overtake some cars).
Now I am shifting after 4.5k rpm and not crossing 75km/h till the 2nd service is done(will change the engine oil in 2nd service too and than check the full potential of the bike) [emoji4]
So the chain noise is the only issue this bike is having till now. BTW how many kms you have done?
Mine is now 1300kms(and 12days) old and require lubing after every 200-250kms(after this range chain noise increases considerably). But after lubing it remains silent for another 200-250 kms. I have already purchased the TVS chain lubricant(₹385 for 500ml) but looks like its not that much good. Will try some other brands(motul/tribocor) when this one becomes empty.Last edited by jatinarya; 10-23-2016, 12:46 AM.Safety is a Cheap and Effective Insurance Policy !!!
