Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey guys!
First of all I am new here and I thank the admins for making me a part of your wide community.
So I recently bought a dominar 400 in pondicherry from an authorized dealer (Aakash bajaj). But there are few issues with it.
1. Vibration:
There's a hard buzzing vibration that kicks in at around 4000 RPM all the way upto the rev limit. It is so hard that I could hardly see anything in the mirror.
2. Engine Jarring/knocking at low RPM at higher gears. Like around 4000RPM and when I rev it hard, the engine males a weird jarring noise.
3. Tight:
The clutch is way too tight and I can't ride it around without my palms and fingers turning red.
4. Tight upshift:
Upshifts are tight as hell, that driving the bike with slipper/chappals becomes a nightmare.
5. Smoke/Fog from fuel tank.
Initially when I took the bike for delivery, they said they had put 1.5 liters of fuel in the tank. While I went for refuelling for the first time, when opening the fuel tank I saw some weird smoke/Fog coming out of it. I was scared as hell. However that was the first and last time I ever saw it. My guess is that it might have been due to the humid climate at that day.
Anybody facing the same problems? BTW it is a new bike awaiting first service.

1 Yes there is buzzing around 4k RPM, it will considerably lessen after 1st service and more so after 2k kilometers.
2 First of all since you are in your run in period please don't rev the bike. As for your problem it is quite unusual and our senior members can shed some light on it.
3 That's completely unusual you should try any other dominar to see if it's having the same heaviness if not get it checked at svc.
4 If you are upgrading from smaller CC bikes it might seem hard as it has much more torque as compared to small bikes and that is the reason upshift will be hard.
PS- Try wearing at least sport shoes while riding such bikes would help with the upshift and would reduce the heat blast, and lastly would be better protection in case of a fall
5 This thing is completely of the charts and has to be taken care of it something like that sorts pops up again.
Cheers, Ride Safe

The ODB 2 socket will hit the body when you hit the pot hole, you can put a small cloth under it and that will take care of the soundOriginally posted by V 12 View PostGuys One quick question, I have been hearing a 'tak Tak Tak' sound from the rear side of the bike whenever i hit a bad patch of road or a pothole, I've tried removing the first aid kit from the rear seat but still the noise is there, I've also tried tightening the rear chain but still that noise just won't go. I have noted everything as you said, and will take necessary care of it.
Regarding point 5, I think due to very less fuel during delivery (There was not even a single division on the the fuel level indicator), the fuel pump would have gotten real hot making the fuel to evaporate causing the smog to appear. Because the smog smelled like petrol. Anyways that's just my assumption and I would definitely inform it to the service center during first service.

This is the ABS kicking in and doing its thing when you go over bad patches or potholes , the wheel loses grip and spends a fraction of time in the air which is when the ABS unlocks the brakes.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Sir it isn't the ABS sound because it is still present even when I won't brake. It is that of something constantly hitting a plastic or a metal pieceOriginally posted by Indivar View PostThis is the ABS kicking in and doing its thing when you go over bad patches or potholes , the wheel loses grip and spends a fraction of time in the air which is when the ABS unlocks the brakes.
