Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
[QUOTE=nishiparate;1317271]Hello everyone. I have been following this thread for quite a long time now. So, got my Midnight Blue Dominar on 30th September and just had the first free service today. Bike seems to be running smooth now. Noticed some smooth gear shifting. Must say that clutch is super light, which helps a lot in bumper to bumper traffic [emoji1] . Breaks are super duper awesome along with ABS ❤ .
Did not went above 4k rpm yet but I have to admit that even in 4k, there is tremendous amount of power just waiting to roar out of the engine [emoji106]
For now, just took some snaps.[emoji328]

I see the Mumbai rains have blessed it with road dirt. Needs some cleaning
. Congratulations.

[QUOTE=Indivar;1317388]Yes indeed [emoji1] . Had a wash yesterday. However noticed that the coolant level is slightly above Max when bike is in upright position. Did not noticed it after servicing.[emoji52] It was raining here when took her out of service station. Might be the reason why I failed to check the coolant level. Would it be a problem or should I take her back to remove the extra coolant?Originally posted by nishiparate View PostHello everyone. I have been following this thread for quite a long time now. Please take it to the SVC and ask them to bring it within the max and min limits. They will keep insisting that it is ok, but be adamant. They did the same with my coolant during first service. There are reasons why there is a factory set Max and Min limit. And it is usually good practice to stick to those limits.
Btw, the coolant level rises when the bike has been driven for some time. Did you check level when cold?

Someone here has ordered that kit in plum shade but after few months they refunded the amount as they were unable to match the oe shade.
They most practical mod on the boday would be similar looking bigger capacity tank made from some lighter material.
And yes the modifications needs to be entered into the rc book unless it is just stickers.

Your owners manual is your best bet. Read the owners manual when you have time. You also have copies of the same on the web.Originally posted by Ashish saini View PostHi everyone.. [QUOTE=nishiparate;1317393]Slightly above maximum is absolutely nothing to worry about. Extra coolant is always better than no coolant at all on the expansion tank. One should only be worried when the coolant level goes below low. Halfway through the Max and slightly upper level shouldn't be of concern.Originally posted by Indivar View PostYes indeed [emoji1] . Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Tail lamp stays on even though brakes are released.
I got a matte black Dominar on the 30th of September. I've never owned a bike before so this is the first one. And I love every moment I'm putting kilometers on the odo. There aren't many vibrations coming from the body, the ones from the engine are there post 4k. Since I am in the run-in period, I'm taking it slow and under 4k rpm only, max I've raced it to 73 km/h.
My only gripe with the bike is that when in traffic, the pick up is slow. Or so it feels like. The engine feels a bit under stress. This happens when the tank is half full. I topped it up with Power from Indian Oil pump when I got the delivery and then with normal fuel.
Today while I was washing the bike, I checked all the lights and the blinkers. The tail lamp seems to be glowing fully like it should when the brakes are pressed. Ideally, the tail lamp should be dim. But it isn't the case. It's fully glowing. I tried pressing the brakes several times but it didn't dim at all.
I'm due for the first service next week, so will bring this up with the service guys.

Re: Tail lamp stays on even though brakes are released.
The engine is just getting accustomed to the riding and is probably under settling down stage. Just ride as you ride now, hopefully not stressing the engine - higher gear, lower speed or higher speed, lower gear.Originally posted by jani-boy View PostI got a matte black Dominar on the 30th of September. I'd suggest you read the manual from first page to the last as if you are reading for board exam or semester exam. Bajaj gives a good run-in process.
For the brake light thingy - that's moisture acting up. Once dry, you'll see that the brake light is glowing properly and as it should.
Ohh & congratulations on the new acquisition. Domi is a lovely bike. 😊Regards,

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Re: Tail lamp stays on even though brakes are released.
Oh I already did read the manual. I've PDF's on every device I own (no kidding) since the day I decided to go ahead and buy the bike. That's why I mentioned I've never gone beyond 73 km/hr ever.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostThe engine is just getting accustomed to the riding and is probably under settling down stage. The brake light issue isn't due to moisture. I just checked it. It doesn't dim itself. Keeps glowing as if the brakes are pressed even when they aren't. I think the wiring below the pillion seat is messed up.
Overall, I think it is a good bike. It does scare me when I get into a pothole. I fear that the alloys will crack. Other issues are pretty much the same, it so damn difficult to get that thing into neutral.
And hey, Speed/Power or normal fuel? Dealer suggested Speed/Power. I topped it up once with Power and the next time with normal fuel.
Thank you for the wishes.
