Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
40-60kmph means you will be riding below 5th gear always. So mileage should be around 28kmpl. If first service not done wait for it to check mileage.Originally posted by Ashish saini View PostRide Safe!

Bro. Actually I don't own the dominar yet I have just booked it. But I am a little nervous about its mileage figures. I have to normally use it in city (chandigarh) and occasionally to a tour. So please advice me what can be done I really do like this bike.Originally posted by sman999 View Post40-60kmph means you will be riding below 5th gear always. So mileage should be around 28kmpl. I am not going to mince words - the mileage you get though does depend on your riding style, for a majority of us (and this includes the owners I know from DOC Ahmedabad) the mileage in city is around the 28 - 30 KMPL mark only. On highways this may go up to 33 kmpl. Also before the first service you will get somewhere in the 25 KMPL vicinity.
If this bike is only for occasional touring and mostly city riding you may feel shortchanged by the mileage figures.Blood, Sweat and Gears - Enough Said.

And to remove the whole overhand part of mudgaurd cutting is the only way to do it.

I am getting 25kmpl. Have kept her below 3k RPM and have revved at 6k RPM as well.Originally posted by Vikramaditya View PostHi Ashish,

And really nothing changes and that's a good thing for me.
25kmpl is good deal, if my opinion matters.
Bro.. i was hoping to get a plug it and use it solution. Would definitely want to switch back Stock in their rainy season ( better than nothing).Originally posted by Ijs View PostI am not talking about the lower part to install a tail tiddy the whole portion need to be removed, there is no benefit in removing just the lower tiny part.

Am going to check the dimensions of KTM's size because that comes closest.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Anyone got opinions on chain slack.
The SC would keep saying that slack setting is ok to a loose chain until recently i started getting bothersome in chain noise. I would only hear that though when not wearing a helmet which I usually never do. Meaning i never hear the chain noise. But recently vibrations increased a lot numbing fingers too often. I could feel it in the seat and tank too.
But bothered by the noise, i decided to set the slack to approx 35 mm. Now the ride is much smoother.

Bro. i'm not expecting much...but if it's gonna give around 30-32kmpl it is okay for me And about riding style it's just NORMAL not speeding much.Originally posted by Vikramaditya View PostHi Ashish,

ChecK for the Sprocket wear and tear. Uneven wear out could cause chain slack a bit varying at places and cause chain noise. My rear Sprocket is worn out and she has 15+k on the odo. I'm going for a custom Sprocket with 42teeth instead of the stock 45teeth.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostAnyone got opinions on chain slack.

The teeth seem fine. The settings is on the third notch.Originally posted by sman999 View PostChecK for the Sprocket wear and tear. Good to know that you are changing rear to 42 would mean you would get better torque vs power. Which and where did you buy. This works mean you got a new chain as well.
I counted that we have a 120 link 520 chain. It's that correct? You world need maybe 116.

Sure, would do once installed. May be in a week. Chain will need some alteration. With the 42 teeth Torque will fall down but top end will increase and lower gear ratio will be shorter so that commuting in traffic gets easy. Mileage will also improve a bit. Mostly 100kmph mark will hit @5000rpm or below says the manufacturer.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostThe teeth seem fine. The settings is on the third notch.

Okay bro. Thanks. Another thing I want to ask that I am gonna buy matte black does it need any type of protection on it like any filming or something so that it does not get damaged.Originally posted by Ijs View PostU wont get 30 or above inside the city , but on highway yes easily.
