It is surprising not many owners are active on this thread for the new considering the hype and the popularity this model has
Either everything is going hunky dowry or there are issues which are not discussed in open forum like these ?

BTW i ride a 200 NS and i am strongly considering upgrading to 2017 390 or awaiting the new R3 model (hopefully with ABS)

Can any one advice...Also here is another interesting video for top speed comparo between these two Enjoy !

In this Part 2 video you will see me ride the Yamaha R3 and have a friendly race with the 2017 KTM Duke 390. The URL for the Part 1 where I ride the Duke 390...
    Ride HARD but Ride SAFE
    Cheers !!

It's not a fair comparision. try pitting the R3 against the RC with a proper rider who knows the bike.. the Naked 390s will have windblast due to which the rider will feel "tired" and hence, cannot keep up the speeds, the R3 has a proper windshield that deflects the air away & more aerodynamic.. try to find a video of the two in city, the Duke will blow away the R3 with it's short turning radius & shorter wheelbase.. but nevertheless, it's a comparison of the two engines in different bodies made for two different reasons..

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

There are no such issues at all, all the issues we had earlier are being taken care of with the software patches, bike is a gem! An amazing product I must say!
Yeah many people out there compare with R3 with the power, I love R3; but it doesnot give that many features which duke is currently giving.
R3 may get ABS in June I guess

i had test ride on both dukes - old and new. I wanted to buy old one several years ago, but my wife was very unhappy pillion, new one very ok for her and for my long legs too, so we are buying it. Next week we will ride it.
PS. We are going for long rides very often, to make my wife even happier i will buy extra pillion seat and modify it and use it only for rides with her.
They told four wheels were better then two.
          So, I bought another motorcycle!

Folks, any suggestions for a waterproof tank bag? I'm checking the Rynox optimus M2, its got brilliant reviews but it looks too massive and I'm not sure how it will fit on the oddly shaped tank of the new 390. Any and all help is much appreciated.

Offtopic, the new 390 is crazy fast and handles like a charm but it just doesn't give you the chills that my old 200 did, does not feel as aggressive and is definitely too quiet for my liking.

Check out viaterra, their bag+rain cover does the trick. don't trust just the bag even if it is advertised as water proof, always use a cover if riding in rain. Viaterra provides a rain cover along with the bag
Carry essentials safely with the Fly Universal Motorcycle Tank Bag. Strap-based, durable, and easy to install, it’s perfect for motorcycles, commuting, and adventure rides—providing stable storage and quick access to your gear on every journey.

i use the viaterra velox saddle bags and they have held up pretty well in the rains with the provided rain cover.

top end was never the 390's forte and these are two motorcycles with a different engine architecture !
but again for some people a bike is a bike is a bike.. whatever floats their boat.

we know what this joker is up to. ironic how this guy talks about safety/cops checking blah blah and yet brags/races on public roads. now what if someone simply informs the cops and sends them a link of this video(and other videos of his) . I'd love the see how he would defend himself when cops decide to seriously prosecute him for over speeding. unnecessary bragging and publicly posting it.

TBH, ever since I came to know that he is a "paid" guy and doesn't give his actual "own" views, I quit following him. Not sure how he still has fan following!!!!

Also, heard that the lock set is easy to break and steal the bike!!! True that??

                          Congratulations Prashant.

                          Hi All,

Please help me with my doubt... I have booked the D390 in March and the showroom guys are asking me to make a full payment. They are "promising" me that they will deliver the bike in 2 weeks. I was under the impression that the bike gets allotted to us, after which we make the necessary payments and documentation work. The registration is done in a day or 2 and then the bike is ours.
Could you please share your experiences and let me know how this works ? I have read in some threads that in spite of making the full payment, the delivery is delayed for some people.

                            Hi V Pradhan

Thank you for your kind wishes[emoji6] ,
I went for finance option 7.5% was too tempting [emoji2] , I did made the Down-payment last Wednesday and the loan was also approved by then and signed all the loan documents that day itself, however, the process started only once I received the call from the showroom that my bike will be delivered in a weeks time. The KTM guys assured me that the bike will be delivered 2 days after the full payment but it was me who wanted the bike to be delivered on Wednesday(25th May) hence last Thursday(18th May) I went for the PDI as the new lot had just come in . I selected my bike from the lot of 7 Duke 390 s and told the showroom manager that I will be taking the delivery on Next Wednesday. Delivery was quick and took me only 30-45 mins.
I think KTM has ramped up the production and hence the waiting period has come down and hence no major delays are expected now on and as per my experience so far it should be okay to make full payment and expect your bike to arrive in 2 days after that

                              Hi Pradhan,

That is how it works. You will have to make full payment post to which only they shall alot the bike in your name. I did the same way and got my bike delivered after 3 working days. Due to shortage to bikes and increased demand they cannot afford any cancellations at the last minute. So only customers are requested to make full payment.

                                Hi Pradhan..

                                Just my experience..

It all depends.. I got bike within a week after booking the bike( reason is someone else loan got reject hence that bike went to someone else..and his allotment came to me.

We cant confirm the delivery/delay because expected bike lot may not come in time or some other reason could delay it, like transportation, production delays

but the full payment is not necessary .. i paid 1000 rs and booked the bike.. after that just two days before the bike delivery i paid 1 lakh and remaining on a day before the delivery. I could have taken the bike on the same day i paid the last amount but i was waiting for good day to take the delivery..

So initial amount(some places they ask 1k rs some places they ask 5k to 15k) is enough to reserve the bike and full payment can be made on the day of delivery also..

If you are comfortable make the payment and just wait for the bike to come. Guess no harm in that.. your bike is yours.. it will reach you even if its delayed a bit..
