Btw, Shell's Helix range is for cars. Never use them on motorcycles. If you want to try a FS oil from Shell, try Shell Advance Ultra 10w40.
Hey thank you so much! I went for the TVS svc, and asked them about this TPS, they dint know what it was!lol.. and they told me to get it tom and leave for one full afternoon.. cos it will take so much time Acc to them to inspect it! So i just got pissed and went to another tvs centre and asked them abt TPS... Atleast these guys knew abt it! but when i told them to change it, they told we cant now , leave it for one day! so i just bought the Throttle kit for 95 Rs(Bangalore) and went for a local service guy and told him to fix it! he just did it in 15 mins! gave 40 bucks for him.. and Wow now everything is fine!

And BTW, my bad, it is Shell Advance Ultra itself which im running on

    Cheers,

So happy to hear that Bro! Many thanks again to Drifty who first shared this info.

Genuine issue,I guess it might be something related to the winding part on stator coil, may be it was not done properly.Remember, coil rewinding requires great skills.

Ahem..so TPS is selling like hot cakes at TVS.
Would like to mention one thing guys, just dont go and directly replace the TPS for the hiccup related issues.Start step by step, diagnose the air cleaner, carb settings, main jet/idle jet for choking, etc, then jump to conclusion, thats it!

@Rtrlover83:Thanks again Bro and nice signature there.

Absolutely Bro I some how followed the same steps you've advised above. My bad, i should have posted the the work flow.

I first replaced the air filter (I knew a new filter was not needed, but as the odo closed to the 10K mark, just did it). As it didn't give the desired result, went to a local Mech and cleaned the Carb real good and got it re-tuned as well. But still the lag at lower rpm persisted. Finally did the TPS replacement. This job was also done by the same Mech. I depended on an outside Mech for the Carb work and TPS replacement because the SVC was not co-operating for doing the said jobs.

Guys please reply. The tank sides (where we rest our thighs)becomes dirty. Is it because ot the pant which comes in contact with the tank or because of the colour?

I have not installed the big bore kit. Check the below link for a review of the FFE

Best wishes for your ride Bro and welcome to the tribe

Is there anyone on xbhp who has fitted bigbore and ffe on RTR160? If yes, then can you give me the link to the review if he has posted any?

Bro, the best way to check engine oil is to do it yourself. It's one of the easiest DIY jobs out there. Heck, even i do it
I guess you know it, but i'll advice. Put the bike on central stand on level ground. Wait for some 10 minutes. Use ordinary nose pliers if the gauge oil level cap is too tight. Remove the gauge, wipe it clean and insert by threading in. Once again, remove it and check the level, it should be between the lower and upper level markings (the diagonal shaped textured area seen on the bottom shows the lower/upper levels). If level is less than lower level, top it up.

Now, the tank sides where we rest our thighs (actually holding tight when going in a staight line) with time, gets a very slight cream color tint. I presume yours is a pearl white menace. Just clean on a regular basis. That's what i'am doing.

Actually, I'm sure the coil is intact. The rewinding was done by the GOD of Lighting, as we call him, DR. Vivek aka drvmtm. It could be something else in the circuit that follows. As I have the stock things with me, I'll be (not yet done) putting them back on and checking.

                  • @ lijok....why isnt 1 letere mileage checking not accurate???? how much of unusable reserve is present in the bike???

another question..in cold weather the bike refuses to start with low fuel...it starts but once you give the throttle it dies...and it starts only with choke

and does fuel evaporate when when the weather is cold???

                    • so replacing this TPS is working for everybody it seems, those having hiccup issues. This weekend dedicated to that then.

Petrol ignites easily in Vapour form only..Liquid petrol will not burn, only it's vapour, so in cold condition the petrol spray inside the chamber further absorbs the cylinder heat and remains as droplets, and hence difficulty in igniting it...It is common to all bikes and Cars, and nothing to worry about..
Applying Choke increase the Petrol content thereby improving ignitability...but once engine is hot opening choke will cause flooding and engine may stop due to higher AFR caused by quick vaporization due to hot engine.

SCOOP! TVS to launch revised Apache RTR - News - Autocar India

Slightly OT, but any guesses what the new Apache will look like? Just a couple of weeks could either be the auto-expo, early next year, or it could be the hyper-edge treatment to the current 180.

I am expecting something BIG in terms of cubic capacity.
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

don't expect anything from TVS, it will most probably be sticker job.
