I have never seen my bike's air/oil filter cleaned, spark plug cleaned, brake fluid changed, etc, even after 6 services... In fact ,I went to get the tappets adjusted y'day & after the quick fix,the dumb mechanic in TVS svc had not connected the petrol pipe to the carb. & when I went for a test ride petrol started flowing out onto the road..So, I went back to the mech. , he shows me the "no care" attitude... This is the condition of TVS svc in B'lore..

You have to dedicate a Whole Day for servicing then only they do it properly infront of you..

      • Hey guys, recently i have been encountering false neutrals while riding my cousin's RTR 180 many a times and sometimes it even rejects the input from my right hand's twist and just shuts off, that too when i am riding in the proper gear and at proper speed(ie. no stalling the engine), any ideas what might be wrong?

        Help appreciated!

Engine seems to be bit smooth now Vibration's are also less....

I am planning to add Castrol Magneto 10w30 .. What say guys ?

After 12k on my ABS, for the first time, i switched to FS Motul 7100 10w40. It has unbelievable reliability while i donot really notice any impact on engine smoothness. After switching, i had a 1000k city and 1347 round about trip to Bangalore-kodaikanal, including a large # of steep hairpins and ghat sections. Engine Smoothness will be fine as long as bike is kept under 70s. Once breached, the bike just returns to its stock state on TVS SS. I wouldnt really recommend this for long tourers. However, it's a good choice for commuters for long lasting reliability. Soon i'll be switching to Shell advanced Ultra and check the difference.

Why did u change the air filter...?? If it was SVC's idea, my friend u have been cheated if u paid for the filter or else you are very lucky..
Go through the "Engine oil" thread to gain some knowledge & use what is best for RTR...

Going to SVC for the 6th service..Any points that I should look into to get my beast back in mint condition..??
Few things to keep in mind:

          Spark plug - replacement
          Fork Oil - replacement
Disc pads - checkin and replace if req
          Fuel tank cleaning
Air filter cleaning - replace if req (im not very sure abt this)
Throttle cable - check and replace if req
Chain timing and tighten if req
Brake fluid level and replace if req.

Nothin else i can think of.

I've always paid approx 450INR for free services and 550 after free. However, from my last service, i've stopped using TVS oil and shell out extra hundreds on different ones to cool off my beast. Will soon update the result of Shell on my beast.

          • Good to hear that ...you are an experienced "RTR"... waiting for result...

I think 500 Rs for each servicing is a good deal (free/Paid) but only one issue is you have to spend a day there guiding them for things to be done... :/

And for Everyone - the New Model 2012 apache's Rear Fairing (or whatever we call it) the one which get cover by Left & right Leg of Pillion, the one where RTR 180 Written attached with Grab Rails/RaceRails.... Costs 800-/ Rs for each side ...

Yes please...the info would be highly aprreciated...i am very soon going into depression if i continue to use the TVS tru4..the engine becomes a furnace after just a couple of kms into my ride.

                  • ha ha.. no need to be so worried bro.. If u r so pissed off....I would suggest you switch to FS right now, without any hesitation. I'm sure u'll notice the difference which is cent percent better than the stock oil. However, I'm tryin with different one's to decide on my feed for rest of my beast's life. I also went thru couple of blogs, where we need to be double careful on place of purchase, since its easy to be fooled with counterfeit package. I'm also now doubtful on my earlier 7100, since i read the manufacture date was 6 months older at the time of purchase. However, shop keeper in JC road, convinced me that due to the fact of importing directly from france was the reason for older stock. I wasnt very convinced though. This time no such hiccups. Shell fuel bunk is offerin free fuel check-up and replacement program. In another week or so, I'll switch over to Advanced Ultra and see the difference. One more thing to notice is that, we do not find any 10w30 FS oil out in market (or am not aware of one). Hence, we need to switch to 10w40, which is the only next best thing.

I agree. However, it doesnt help us get the best out of the beast... And as always, better u pay better u get.. so no harm in finding the best blood out there for the beasts.. to keep her smiling

No offence but in that case you havenot seen/used MOTUL
TVS oil may get black after 2000km. As someone said rightly, its worse than a mineral oil. Can be used as water even

Motul oil is of very high quality. Even Valvoline. For minerals, Gulf is good. SS and FS oils of excellent quality have ester reinforced additives which increase their performance dramatically and you can see that in their colour. My MOTUL SS oil has done 3k+ km and its still THE same

Yes..for a new engine, it will turn black any day. But since he meant experimentation , I replied in that passiveness You are also right

PS: Some RTRians have reported issues of oil loss in Motul FS. No idea because I have not used it.

Even I have toured a LOT on the Motul SS.+ City Riding too. No issues till now.
Motul is the only oil apart from valvoline which i found to be performing even at higher rpms. And regarding SHELL, use it and do tell us. There is no point in me telling negatives of it before you use it.

Well, i've been using Motul 7100FS, and it's 3800kms already. I've had it checked two days back and still not so prominent loss in its level. And most importantly, as i had mentioned earlier, it has a very very good reliability, as my oil hasnt yet lost its thickness nor color and still in the very same red color and can easily run for another 1.5-2k kms easily, based on my expert (known to be in business from whopping 12 yrs) mechanic. However, am not very satisfied iwith its performance, or may be my expectations are higher. Either way, I'll switch to shell and compare the difference.

Installed Xenon White Light... Digi Console will go blank asap Headlight switched on, current flowing noise from Head of Motorcycle... Battery not taking up the voltage as Xenon got very high voltage as compare to stock one...

So the question Is there any way to install Xenon Light/ White light without any side/bad effect...
