It is easy. Atleast for TVS svc guys, because they know their oil is yellow in colour. Motul SS is red in colour and a slight experience can make you tell the difference at first 'touch' ,even the viscosity is kind of different.
IMHO its better that we don't eperiment too much with engine oil.
It's not about the RIDE. It's about HOW YOU ride :]

      have you solved this problem

even i was facing this problem after a long tour. the mechanic said that either someone has put small stones inside the exhaust or the inner tube of the exhaust has become loose. mine was the second case so i got it welded and now its ok.

Well it was a minor issue which i did by myself... There is a Rubber Washer in both of Nut (Visible from Front easily at silencer) Mine that rubber was missing, reason can be several thing like Indian Road & Pillion leg Position & all, I Changed it & Issue solved ...

After covering some distance every oil will become `Black`, especially on a new engine,I don`t think any service personnel will check the viscosity of engine oil while draining.

          • Lot's of different Opinions... And does Enginer heating Issue is also related with Engine Oil ?

If I used Synthethic Castrol 10w40 what will be the effects ?

Brake Oil Might be top up but there words was "Brake Oil Changed"

So Which Engine Oil to use suggest me now atleast
Where was "Brake Oil Changed" mentioned..??
Nice... you got it for free...
Never ask the TVS SVC guys for engine oil details...They only know to take an oil used for all TVS vehicles in a measuring cylinder & pouring it into the engine... & they fill some 800 or 900 ml max , the rest is filled to another..
Try Shell Advance AX-7 a SS for few km.. After some 10k km change to Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 FS & keep a spare bottle of AX-7 for top-ups..

Do not use FS or SS engine oil till 5k km, use only mineral oil till 5k km.

                Suggestions :
Mineral (till 5K km) = Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40
                SS (after 5K km) = Shell Advance AX7 10W40

But then same question arrise why tVS uses Semi Synthethic then ?

or that Oil is just for name SS but got Property of Mineral Oil ?

And Oil Filter Need to be replaced after 2-3k Right ? but what if we are changing from One brand (Say TVS TRU) to another (Shell/Motul) is it necessary to change it ?

TVS considers TRU4 as SS oil.. I consider it as water when engine is very hot..
I guess we need to change the oil filter BUT with a different company like K&N, etc..?? TVS SVC will never change or clean the oil/air filter..Are you Planing for a change..??

You are lucky Shahbaz...i am always charged for the oil filter,( 35rs each for 3 servicing sessions)& i am sure majority of the guys here, would have been charged for the same...

One more thing that i desperately wanted to know is the total amount you guys pay for the free servicing of your bike..i have ended up paying 380rs each for three free services done uptill now..a couple of my friends have to shell out between 450-500rs .

Free service doesnt mean 0 Rs service
They will let go off Labour charges involved which is 250rs here.
What ever you get billed for in Free service is for the parts/engine oil that is replaced. Check in detail the slip that you get they will break it up in two parts Labour Charges and Spares charges.

I am very sure i havent mentioned anywhere, that i should be charged "0 RS" for free servicing....wanted to know the rough estimate that my fellow owners pay during their free servicing hence the humble enquiry.no wonder the mechanics behave like zombies& turn a deaf ear to your complaints when, they realize that your bike is under the "free servicing" period.

@ shahbaz : i am being charged 230rs for the TVS crap4...apart from this they wash the bike, clean the air filter, stare at babes/aunties who come for the servicing of their Wegos/scooty, and do some minor settings here & there to show that they work hard on our beasts.. nevertheless thanks for the info

                                WOW... you are real lucky....
I have never seen my bike's air/oil filter cleaned, spark plug cleaned, brake fluid changed, etc, even after 6 services... In fact ,I went to get the tappets adjusted y'day & after the quick fix,the dumb mechanic in TVS svc had not connected the petrol pipe to the carb. & when I went for a test ride petrol started flowing out onto the road..So, I went back to the mech. , he shows me the "no care" attitude... This is the condition of TVS svc in B'lore..
