What about the Motul 3000 4t 15W50? Has anyone tried it?Originally posted by Rtrlover83 View Post@krrishi
You could also try Motul 3100 Gold 10W40 4T (Technosynthese). I suppose it will give more bang for buck. This one AFAIK is semi-synthetic but not as hard core as the M5100 ester 4T (495 INR).
Costs almost the same as the Advance AX7.
P.S. Have not yet tried this one.
As my bike gets heated up, shifts become harder
and engine becomes noisier. So, i believe the W50 grade will keep the engine cooler in the soaring afternoon temperature of tamilnadu! Suggestions please!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow, there won't be.

Motul 3000 4T Plus is a premium mineral oil. Good one for running in and of course, later too. Have read positive reviews. Would be good till about 2500 Kms.
Yes, W50 in general is recommended for dusty and hot city riding conditions and while long distance touring. But, anything more than W40 would affect the easy and high revving nature of RTR engines as Drifty, Makky and yes, me too experienced. So if you go for the 3000, stick to W40.The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

@shahbaz
Congrats Bro
15W50 is definetly good in keeping the engine cool but i suspect the top end accelaration & pick up might decrease due to the thickness of the oil, altough gear shifts will be butter smooth, the life span of the engine oil will also be more(around3.5to4k) so if you want your engine to combat the heat of TN then this grade is good enough.Originally posted by streetglowie View PostWhat about the Motul 3000 4t 15W50? @ RTRlover
I second your opinion abouth the decreased revvability of the RTR after using the w50 gradeThank you for your suggestion, guess i will have to go into deep meditation to decide between the two
,susheel has used the shell advanced wherein he got decent results & this one i assume is yet to be tested, lets see, the motul is a bit outside my budget but as you said is VFM.

Thanks Rtrlover83 and krrishi for your suggestions
FYI, I've tried most of the versions of Shell (AX3, AX5, AX7 and Ultra) and none of them seems to hold long! The Ultra was the biggest disappointment, the oil level dropped drastically around 2.5k kms and so were the other versions. AX5 is quite vfm but still it doesnt hold long. Few kms after starting, just when the engine heats up, it starts behaving harsh especially the shifter. I am sure that the AX5 running now is the culprit with just 1.2k run. Time to change the oil!
How much does the Motul 3100 Gold 4t 10W40 cost? I may have a hard time sourcing it, but the 3000 4t is quite easily available. I've made up my mind to try the 3000 4t 15W50 just for a couple of months until the afternoon temperatures drop. Will be changing the oil tomorrow. Will post my observations!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow, there won't be.

Motul 3100 Gold 4T costs 300 INR here in Trivandrum and is available in 10W40 grade too unlike the 5100 ester 4T which mostly comes in 15W50.
BTW, make sure to pick the 1 Ltr 3000 4T Plus (as 900ml is available too) if you are going for it.The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

From where i see it,it is pretty simple. As i said before, decide on a place that is convenient for everyone to come to, decide on a day/date that is comfortable for everyone(preferably a weekend), meet up at the decided place&day preferred by majority present here, chit chat, share vital infos, test ride, click pics, MAYBE decide on a future one day ride if anyone is willing, eat & bid goodbye to each other.this should not take more dan two hours, the more the merrier, can actually visualize the g2g now, suggestions are welcome.OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR OF MY BEAST DO NOT APPEAR CLOSE- THEY SIMPLY DISAPPEAR !!!
