This is a tappet issue for sure.I checked with a TVS & a local mechanic. The performance as well as millage had dropped like hell on my bike.A local mechanic adjusted the tappets when the bike's engine was cold & He charged me Rs250. You better go to a local mech. he'l fix it faster. TVS SVC will take a day or two to adjust a tappet..
Yeah, I think they don't undergo any training other than to give those excuses. The SVC I went to was Sona TVS, Mysore.

Are you sure the sound is not from the exhaust (if it is its the cat con), if it is not tappet adjustment doesn't need more than 1 hour and local mechanics might not have the right instrument to do it. Tappet clearance is 0.06mm for the intake & 0.08mm for the exhaust.
That sound is definitely coming from the engine. I've observed it many times by keeping my ears close to the engine. I think it started from somewhere around 3.5K KM.

I'll try to fix it myself within a week after managing to get a hold of all the tools as Rs.250 seems a bit out of hand for a student like me just for tappet setting

Is your bike in warranty period.?? Do you have a "free" service left..??
If Yes, go to TVS SVC & talk/argue/shout. They will be able to fix it at a very low price. TVS SVC will take a lot of time but the wait is worth it.
Or else go to any SVC get the tappet adjusted. While at the SVC, learn how to set the tappets & the next time u'l be able do it your self (if required). Why do you want to take the risk of fixing it yourself..?? Just remember that to you are playing around with the most complex part of the engine, the engine head.
          All the best my friend..

If yes goto Tristar TVS SVC (Domlur) and meet a person named Lokesh.
Tell him about it & he will help you out.
PM me if any more info required.

Try selling the stock bike and the joel parts separately, a non-enthusiast will not understand the importance of the parts

Get extra clutch wire and throttle cable, alongwith spare bulb (headlight), foot pump, puncture repair kit, and trust me most of the time you will bring these things packed as it is.

                    • Replacing Disc pads

Guys, any time frame on replacing the pads? I'm done with 12k ODO n still runnin on stock pads on both the discs.

Well now..I have something to share with you all..

The front disc on my bike seems like loosened in its grip and and I need to press hard enough to make a sharp braking. I can clearly sense there is no effective sharp breaking as earlier. I started noticing it recently. I doubt its cause of disc plates as it has developed scratches due to constant friction with pads which can be sensed by touching on it. I think even if I replace my pads, I need to change the plates too to get back to the knife-edged breaking. Any thoughts?
Dont defeat your enemy.. destroy him. offer hope then crush it..fuel his ego then break it.. finally. deploy ABS..execute the curve..victims defeat assured.. victims confidence destroyed...!!! All with my Beast.. Racing beast....!!!!

Here by disc pads , you mean disc plates , correct me if I am wrong?
If you are using stock(first) brake pads for 12k kms, buddy your disc plate needs replacement for sure

Thanks to both of you. You guys are totally right about the risk with the cylinder. I've started thinking otherwise now!!

Right now, I haven't brought my bike to BLR. If I bring it here, I'll definitely take it there. Thanks a lot

To change the time go to odo display and press and hold second button and change time using first button. It must be written in the manual

Thanks, you were right it was a problem of loose wire connection only

Even after that vary your speed at different rpms. Don't switch oil till 5000kms, change the oil at every 2000kms (if TVS tru4), get the servicing done as mentioned in the manual (do read it when you get it after 6 days). Use the kick start in the morning instead of the self. Don't go for any mods until the warranty is over and you are sure of the use of the mods.
                              Rest all good
Cool, but its really tough for me to keep it below 5k rpm :/

But i am trying hard to go slow slow slow (around40-50kmph)

And yes as u know i will be getting that Projector headlight ASAP my warranty expired
