Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
A sharp chak chak sort of sound. Closest I can describe is, have you heard the sound of a geared bicycle when you changed gears? Like that, only much louder and sharper. Its loud enough for the person riding next to me to hear.Originally posted by lijok View Post
The play is quite more than just 15-25mm. I think about twice the chain size.Originally posted by Garry_Menace View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Welcome to the tribe devesh! I myself got my beast on 15 September! But I've clocked about 980km already. As long as you keep the bike in the suggested range ( <4000 rpm) for most of the time I think you are safe. Speed variations will do you good only as long as they are occasional. Do not keep pushing the bike to high speeds constantly. Avoid sudden acceleration and braking. Take it slow.Originally posted by Devesh View Posthello guys

As for your first service query, refer to the owners manual. Make sure they do everything mentioned there. They will be changing engine oil, a filter, lubing the bike among other things. Make a list of all issues you are facing and get them fixed. I myself am facing a problem. Looking to getting it fixed asap.
Cheers!!

speedo indicated 138kmph = real 124kmph which TVS claims. That 14kmph is speedo error.Originally posted by madhav766 View PostShaby whaaatt!!??

And I was damn sure someone will gonna say this Speedo error for Sure (May be a speedo error of +2-3kp/h) but 14 are u kidding me, And If its then you mean Bike goes 124 somewhat around 9000rpm & after that Speed will remain constant & just Engine will be reving harder.... I"ve done 133 @ around 10000 rpm then this 138kp/h somewhat More 10600 & lesser then 11000 that was the Rpm (didn't observed clearly as I was completely lean & It was vibrating a Bit)... (Petrol in tank was almost 10 litre too)
And even if i accept it as a Speedo Error it doesn't make sense the reason is
1) Triple digit is no new for me I Can actually understand if ODO is just increasing without putting vehicle in that speed..130-138 a speed difference is observable, you can actually feel it.
2) Engine RPM Was moving slowly so as speed indicator.
3) And i was riding Parallel with p220 his speedo was 140 & He was just 5-8 Inches away from me on my right side, guess his speedo meter was also wrong ?

@Shahbaz That is speedo error indeed. According to many, the rtr's speedo has about 12-15% error at high speeds. So, 124 is gonna be shown as 138 with about 12% error. Do you think the companies are gonna downgrade themselves by showing values lower than the actual ones? This is existent in almost all the vehicles. Not just RTR.

Every bike has a Speedo error, even the P220. The thing is that when you are doing 124kmph on speedo its not actully 124kmph, the speedo error is from the beginning.FAQs-RTR owners

Not really. Almost all speedo s have +/- X% error. But this is high in Digital speedos.Originally posted by Viscmad View PostEvery bike has a Speedo error
Some of the british bikes had Smiths Speedo(chronometric) as a standard which was very accurate.site:xbhp.com keyword -> Google this to dig up stuff in xbhp faster

Is it? then R15 doing 140 has error of +6kp/h ? or so as for others ? hhmm interesting logic...Originally posted by Viscmad View PostOffence Taken

The higher you are in the speed, the big the rrror would be. Every speedo have this, some companies are on the higher side some are not.
@Shaby : So the 138 is speedo indicated , not the real time speed. Next time onwards try a GPS and you will know the difference. My speedo indicated 134kmph was actually 123kmph on GPSFare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Its not like they do not know how to make an accurate speedo. Why do you think there is always positive error? That too in %age which is constant on all bikes of the same batch! You can verify this using GPS if you want.Originally posted by kantu View PostNot really. Almost all speedo s have +/- X% error. But this is high in Digital speedos.

Some bikes like 2007 P220Fi, HH ZMR do not have any speedo error even though they sport Digital Speedos. The issue is that this trend of over-reading was started by the Japs during the speed race and now it has become such a norm that practically everyone does it.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

True that, Prateek - the point is be it 124 on Odo 130 or 138 speed will be 124 only ?

@Antz.bin & Prateek, sirji- Is there any way to use Mobile GPS to track speed ? if possible ... and again I'm saying 138 is no 138 for sure but again I wonder with full throttle if two vehicle moving at same speed that's actually means they are travelling at same speed may be not 138 but 100 or 120 whatever itsOriginally posted by antz.bin View PostIts not like they do not know how to make an accurate speedo. And if its 14 kp/h error then what if someone goes to 140kp/h tomorrow ? And we rode almost 4-5km on that Runway constantly at full throttle then only got that 138 mark... (yes with error dont know if its +ve or -ve)
Sorry for back to back posts...
