as per company recommendation its 3+-2
so the mixture control screw(MCS) setting is 3 full (or 6 half turns) turns from completely closed position and then adjust to a max of 5 full screw or min if 1
to set the idle of 1400+- 100,
anywhere from 2.5 to 3.5 full turns, usually is good state of tune, and this can be confirmed from spark plug colour after a few kms ride.

Thanks bro... but my carb setting is already 1.8 full turn and plug is still dark and mileage is 28-30km/L. What to do ??

Are you sure its 1.8 full turns?
And which method are you following to check mileage?
For now do the following:
1. clean ur air filter
2. check for any leakage of petrol from the carb/ fuel tank.
3. lube ur chain every 500-600km
4. maintain correct air pressure in the tyres.
5. Take it to the svc and tell them to tune the carb
Though points 1-4 sound like small things but when put together, they do affect the mileage of the bike.
Once you carry out the above steps, check mileage again and get back here.

[MENTION=57990]shojolbd[/MENTION] .. All the points mentioned by abishek are valid, now add to that if u r a DIY kinda guy, turn the screw one full turn more. Thus bringing it close to 3 full turns. Clean the plug and ride for 25- 50 kms. Than open the plug and check the color. If the color turns to ash/ light brown, bingo. Check the mileage than, if any improvement, you may be very close to the perfect state of tune.
Since you mentioned it's blackish I suspect you might be running a rich state of tune.

And remember once you turn full 3 turns the rpm might increase, and to bring the rpm to 1400+- 100, adjust the rpm only with idle screw. This the the bigger screw.
There is more to setting the good idle state, but first try the above steps, and if it works we will move ahead. Or else a simple visit to svc can resolve it all.

The FE of your bike depends on many factors.
Have you inspected/cleaned/replaced the following?
1. Spark plug.
2. Air filter.
3. Engine oil (including the grade of oil).
4. Tyre Air pressure.
5. Tappets /timing chain.
6. Tension of the drive chain.

Tuning the carb. is the second half of the story. The carb. has to be clean, if not done for a long time, it needs to be done first.(Note: TVS SVC do not clean the carb., so you need to do it or get it done).However rich the AF is the FE must not vary this drastically, it might be reduced by 4-5kmpl max.. Just inspect if your bike is emitting white or black smoke.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Here ia more details of my bike :

* Total Mileage is only 2400km
* Air filter has been cleaned
* Chain tention adjusted and lubed
* Plug in use is NGK Iridium
* Fuel used is High Octane Petrol
* No smoke from the exhaust
* No leakage of fuel from the tank or carburetor
* Tyre is MRF Vyde 120/80 at the rear (changed)
* Engine oil is Motul 5100 15w50
* Carburetor checked and adjusted to 1.8 full turns but still pretty rich as plug is dark.
* Tappets are fine.
* Tyre pressure always maintained 25PSI and 32PSI front and rear respectively.

Now can you guys find anything wrong here? I know about the thicker oil and fatter tyre but will they make such huge difference?

One problem i have noticed after starting the bike is that when i give throttle there is a big lag and rpm doesnt want to increase and only increases when i turn the theotyle too much and at times it shuts off. After running in idle for few minutes the throttle response becomes fine.

Could be faulty carburetor flooding the engine. Is the air intake passage blocked? Also, is the spark plug of recommended heat range? Not every spark plugs are the same..

Yes the plug is recommended for RTR, NGK IRIDIUM CR7EIX.The air passage is not blocked. How the check if the carb is flooding the engine?

Does the bike stall by itself when left at idling rpm?
And also, there is no need to use high octane petrol. It is just a waste of money using the same in small capacity bikes with low compression ratio. Normal petrol from a decent fuel station will do good.

It only stalls at startups, once the bike runs for a minute or two it doesn't stall anymore.

Going by your reply I don't think the engine is flooding.
But anyway, Be sure to idle the bike for 30 seconds to a minute after cold starts as this allows the engine oil to flow throughout the engine before you ride at higher revs.

Carb can flood when the bike is idle for some time. Do you smell petrol when you start the bike? Once the flooded petrol is cleared, the bike runs fine...

The lag which you mentioned, if you could provide more details about this , it would give us a clearer picture.

When does it occur? Cold engine or when you have sufficiently ridden the bike? How consistent is it? And at what rpms does it occur?
Edit: And also observe the free end of the carb drain pipe to see if it is wet with fuel.

Dude why would you use high octane fuels when:
1)yours is not a high compression engine and thus can't benefit in anyway from the fuel.
2)knowing that high octane fuels are no longer available readily and most high octane fuels are just normal fuels with additives.
3) additives from these fuels can damage your piston rings, carb, and catalytic convertor.
As said before please clean your carb and reset all carb settings to stock, do this by unscrewing and rescrewing the afr screw again to stock. Additionally I would suggest getting rid of the ngk iridium plug in favour of a bosh rr6 dual contact plug for better combustion.

There is no smell of petrol and the lag only happens when the negine is cold at first startups, the bike doesn't want to rev from the idle 11000rpm and stalls if i give quick throttle, if i increase the throttle very slowly it stutters.. and revs only after the throttle is turned substantial amount.
