I agree with Renny here. Riding a bike without a helmet is dumb, going racing with not even a helmet is inexcusable. This is what lands people in hospital as a "Vegetable" (aka "coma"), if they are lucky, otherwise they end as roadkill.
Wow, just wow... What does one say to that? Get yourself a decent helmet, and maybe you won't end up in the obituaries section of your local newspaper.Originally posted by abbydance4life View PostI don't have any of above things, i took care of not race in city so i took nearly an hour to convenience that guy and bring him on highway.Last edited by Andante; 06-01-2010, 11:52 AM.

The Indian bike scene will be a perfect case study for MBA institutes all over the world. The title should read: "How not to grow" or "How to go as slow as possible"!!

Mind you, street racing is not tolerated here in xBhp. Sunny has already made it clear to you. I expected the moderators to see your posts long back. Somehow, they missed them I guess. xBhp inspires the rest by it's motto of "Safe riding". You being an xBhpian are painting it black!Originally posted by abbydance4life View PostI seriously took into consideration not to race in risky place, and i agreed when he said yes to race on highway.
What makes you think that highway is 'safe' for racing? How foolish!! A life is not worth a race!
You have an RTR worth around 75,000 INR. Why can't you get yourself a decent helmet, which costs 1,000 INR?

Everybody is waiting for ONE Japanese manufacturers 2XX, the fate of the Indian Motorcyle market depends there.Originally posted by julianpaul View PostDesigning good gear ratios don't take years of research. Most racing teams do so over one weekend. Years of research should lead to something like the new fireblade. Now THAT's something that you can appreciate a company for doing. Don't get me wrong, TVS has done a good job with the rtrs, but it's not worth crediting years of research to when it's just on par with regular bikes all over the world. Much better than the rest of the indian crap though. 20 friggin CCs every 2 years. And now they're gonna come out with an ER-6n/f costing as much as litre-class SBKs elsewhere and people will still go gaga over it like they did the 250. How much longer are we gonna have to pay double the international price? Or stick to indian models with super-deluxe-pro-plus red stickers. Sorry for the rant, just frustrating looking at the progress the indian bike scene is making, which is either very little or too expensive.

+1 to your post. The Indian bike scene will be a perfect case study for MBA institutes all over the world. The title should read: "How not to grow" or "How to go as slow as possible"!!
How I wish we get cheaper 400s and 600s and then Indian manufacturers would have some challenge to grow (or go Kaput)
PS: If progress = 200 to 400 CC class, then I can safely say that every bnig manufacturer has multiple bikes in this segment.

The 180 already hits 140 on the speedo as someone had posted a video. How much increase in speed can we expect in every rpm? It hits 54 kmph at 4k rpm 5th gear in stock. Can it hit something close to 64 kmph at the same with the rear sprocket change to 44T?Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postthe 180 will award you with 140kmph top speed at the speedo with the 44 tooth. You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

Possible but it would severely jeopardize the acceleration/roll-on timings.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostThe 180 already hits 140 on the speedo as someone had posted a video. Altering the sprocket should not be more than +/- 2 for the rear and +/- 1 for the front in case if you want the bike to perform well.

Im sticking to altering -2 for the rear. I am more of a tourer so i need a relaxed engine at high speeds. How much dent in acceleration will it put? I dont mind a little loss as i wont be racing anytime soon.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostPossible but it would severely jeopardize the acceleration/roll-on timings.

That would be tough to quantify but you need to do trial-and-error method to see which setup suits you the best.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostIm sticking to altering -2 for the rear. I forgot to point this earlier, but the 180 has different num plate mounts than the 160,as shown in the pics the two metallic "rods" things.Originally posted by chicane1879;435370.

lets hope it wont be another 220 with 20-22 PS on tap...Originally posted by satyenpoojary View Post- Waiting for the Honda bike!
but lets browse the newspaper by the next diwali, it wont be out till then i guess...
No, it wont give you 10kmph advantage at the gear.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostCan it hit something close to 64 kmph at the same with the rear sprocket change to 44T?

I would imagine that a person above the age of 13 would know the value of his own head. Heck, I used to wear a helmet much before they became compulsory. But i'm not a big fan of enforcement. So let them do as they wish. If they don't value their life it's their life to not value. Lemme ask you, if an xBHPian were to contemplate suicide (may it never happen), would you go there and force the dude not to kill himself? We can only suggest and hope good sense prevails. And maintain forum discipline. For all you know dozens of people here may be riding without helmets. They're just not posting pictures of it here.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Post@abbydance4life:

How I wish we get cheaper 400s and 600s and then Indian manufacturers would have some challenge to grow (or go Kaput)Someone here had once commented on this, called it Systematic Increase in Profits i think, you can understand the companies want to make as much money as possible. Why jump 50 CCs and multi-cylinders and reach the limits of your (copied) technology when you can milk the customer for 20 CCs worth. The fault here i would say is the consumer's for falling for the marketing gimmicks and buying every crap bike they 'upgrade' and launch.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postlets hope it wont be another 220 with 20-22 PS on tap...

On a practical note, what our crowded indian cities need are 250 and 400 cc twins that can be used on a daily basis and still have enough power for that bit of fun when needed. I mean, seriously, how much power of a 600 or litre SBK could you really use on indian roads?
p.s. @SP mainly - I'm a bit lost about exactly which bike you think is gonna revolutionize the industry. Please elaborate if it ain't too much of a secret!
