atleast you had done two long rides .and i am still sticking in delhi's traffic.

and regarding petrol its just 45km from reserve still it will go above 80

i always do above 80 after hitting reserve.the highest i Fetched in reserve is 96km
i dont wana take risk of empty tank so i topup. but i think it can cross 100 in reserve.
the orange light start to lit after 30km from reserve.

      • yesterday i went for a short trip to maddur(about 80 kms from bangalore) with my friend with a zma.my rtr was struggling to cruise at 110-115 and attain top speed.also,my bikes engine got overheated in a very shortwhile(it was afternoon) and my bike started huffing and pufing after the 6k mark.it felt as though it was going to sieze any moment after 6K rpm.basically throughout the whole trip my bike behaved like an RTR160 while the zma was happily chugging along at 110-120.even though its engine was heated.i suspect engine oil and carb to be the culprits.my bikes done 4160 kms on ODO with 2 free services done,my bike was like riding a 2 year old bike when its just 4 months old, i dont think other RTR 180 are like this what else could be the problem.but iwas satified with the meileage i got 40 kmpl! and my god i have to change those tvs tyres they dont have any grip at all be it tarmac or wet roads while cornering or hard braking!

Will change the oil at first servicing! Thanks!!

Scratching as in... the piston gets mated up with the cylinder walls and metal from the mating surfaces gets scratched up and it remains with the engine oil and gets circulated. It makes the engine to get heated up sooner. Not to worry about that, it is normal

Well, would like to know the reason...
Ha ha!! Liked that ""piston rawaa ho raha hai""!! And yeah, thanks for the detailed info!! Your explaination seems more proper for My condition!!

Nothing like that,I just wanted to know in what context you used the word Hamesha..

Yes,I have a special hatred towards service people but that is because nothing has gone right with the bike, since the very first service.

Its not as extreme as the 'Ghost Apache'. Its a 12cc increase.

no. Atleast my version of Joels FFE do not have the db killer. But I guess you can still install it... check with Joel himself..

Also, I'm yet to install the big bore...

How old is your engine oil??
If you are doing long distance frequently, then you have to change your engine oil before 2000 kms each(preferably xW40 oils).
Moreover,Apache is not a bike to cruise above 100 kmph. The engine heats up very fast.Dont worry, when the engine over heats, the performance drops ,its natural, and its all back to normal, when its cooled.
I have done around 100 kms distance trips many times, and I use to cruise at around 90-100 kmph, with no issues(and i always take 1 break at around 60 kms for snacks).

                  • @ sambit-i dont do long trips. its only a once in a blue moon that i go for trips.my bike usage is very minimal.my bike takes a lot of time attaining in attaining top speeds. apache seriously cannot cruise at 110-115???? what about the R15 and p220 can they cruise at these speeds??? one more query, when does the yellow low fuel light switch on after hitting reserve???

                    Comment

                    • @pranav - done 720+ kms on my bike (350 odd a day). bike never felt as if running out of power. used to take break every 80~100kms for 5 10 mins for smoke/snacks and to basically give rest to the ybx that was in the group.
apache can cruise easily at 110-115 speeds.

donno about 180 but in highways i can easily cruise at 90s , bike just pulls away after 60 to 100 easily.
Yellow indicator glows when petrol is approx 1.5 or 2 ltr in tank i think, but definitely not the time when it hits reserve.

Seriously, cruising on Apache at 115 kmph for 80 kms, really stresses the engine. The ideal speed is just around 100 kmph. You can cruise for hours at that speed. what engine oil are you using?
P220 can cruise at that speed(here the extra cc really helps),but even it gets overheated .
R15's main advantage is the liquid cooling.
For touring, you always have a ZMA.

The yellow light glows after around 40-45 kms after hitting reserve..

How much time has that oil stayed in the bike...?? I mean how many kilometers ? And since you've done aroung 4K KMs on ur bike u can now switch to fully synthetic oil.. This will reduce the heat issue but i still suggest you to get the bike checked from the SVC.. Just to make sure its nothing serious.. Make sure your air-fuel mixture is correct and bike is properly lubricated.. When in neutral, push the bike forward and make sure there is no unwantingly high resistance in the motion...
