  • even i faced same problem. i hav experienced the same in 2.4k-4k rpm band.
clean ur spark plug, loosen the screw under carburetter and let the extra fuel flow out and take out the spark plug and crank ur bike with ignition in OFF position. and refit the plug after cleaning. hope this will help

my mech once told to make the air fuel mix to rich. i don't know about it..
hope any1 can help on it.

you can see my thread on how to open the rtr reflector and install this angel eye . btw the one you have are actually made for computer fans and so the ccfl ring is not secured in the plastic protective ring and is loose . http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/do-yours...projector.html

        • Long time! And it's high time I do some justice to the Apache thread.

          Apache 7305
One year and 2 months; On the Odo: 10600kms
It’s relatively less compared to what I had covered in 6 days(~800kms).
Around 3750kms were done on ‘rides’.

A few crashes in my kitty too ranging from me entering the corner too hot and being super fast Jet Li in jabbing the brake lever resulting in wheel lock up/loss in traction to getting knocked down by other riders. Barring a few bruises, I have escaped unhurt.

          Engine oil:
My Apache runs on Castrol Power 1(15W40). She was on TVS TRU4(10W40) during the running-in period.

          Fuel:
          0-10000kms – Indian oil
Now – HP (Just to see how good it is!)

          Mileage:
I stay in a University and get to ride only 2kms one way. My commute gets over even before I ‘wake up’ and my Apache gets warmed up. Usually, I prefer gear shifts at 4000rpm to avoid the vibe zone, resulting in a higher mileage of around 48-52km/L.
However, when on long distance-blasts, it’s somewhere around 45km/L(Not bad at all!).

          Chain maintenance:
I periodically clean the chain using diesel(I will shift to kerosene since it's better than diesel. However, it depends on the availibity.) and lubricate with TVS Chain Lubricant TRU Spray. I would update regarding the same along with photos in a few days.

          Following were replaced under warranty:
          Battery
          Starter relay
Speedo-dial up(?); connects the speedo to the wheel
          Accelerator cable

Few photos to round off the post:

Apache 7305 on the Pondicherry harbour, East Coast

          Apache 7305 turns 1!

          Happy revving!

before i used to 51-52 now i am getting 39-42! once it went down to 31! 39-42 is this figure okay for 80% sane and 20% ripping??

i always ride in the bike in reserve(most of the times below reserve!!).will riding the bike with above 2.5 liters increase the mileage??

Thanks, dude. Well, I do envy bikers who get to ride more. I hope to make it up by riding more on Sundays!

My philosophy is very simple. Don't push yourself and your machine when both are not ready. I'm comfortable twisting the throttle only after spending 8-10kms on the road. By then, the engine and tyres 'd be warm to understand your needs. Like I said earlier, I hate riding at the vibe zone. Hence, I shift gears at 4000rpm. Mileage goes up, naturally!
Coming to the fuel issue, I don't think fuel ON/RES 'd make a difference in the mileage unless the fuel itself is of bad quality. It depends more on the maintenance of the bike and your riding style.

I read that you got your accelerator wire replaced under warranty, does that mean you got it done for free? Because they charged me when my acc. wire went kaput 2 months back, my bike was 9 months old then.

Yes, the showroom got it replaced under warranty. The cable used to get 'pulled' and the tachometer 'd read 6500rpm at idle! Unbearable siren to listen!
