    • @n krishna p-sorry man i am not able find time to meet you.final year and all! but i will make time somehow.

lot things need to be fixed in my bike....i am just not finding time to go to SVC and pester them to get these things rectified.

recently i had been to pondy and and i hired an FZ.even though the bike didnt have power ,the bike had amazing grip (MRF's) and better ride quality.and man the bike is smooth. and there was no sign of the tappet sound even after 15 kms of riding and pondy is a damn hot place. if i had ridden my RTR in pondy the tappet sound would have started i think after 3-4 kms only.

bikes done 6070 on ODO & right now the problems i am facing are:-

1.vibrations-intolerable above 35 km/h and it goes on and on(even my friend who owns a RTR160 said that even his bike doesnt vibrate this much)
2.tappet sound comes after just 6-7 kms in bangalore weather.even when the weather is pleasent..
3.faulty speedo i think cable is loose or is kaput
4.vibration sound from the handle bar-near the RTR 180 logo
5.pathetic mileage-33-36 kms even with semi sane riding(80% sane)
6.whenever i take my hands off the handlebar at only these speeds 61-64 the handle bar shakes and the front tyre wobbles.

time and time whenever i had the opportunity to go to svc or mech i kept pressurising them to look at these problems.the svc ppl are incompetent.

even though i love my bike(its my first bike) and it still a thrill to ride, all these problems are driving me insane and i am thinking of selling my bike off and buy a yammie FZ or r15..

I'am not competent to answer all your queries. But will share what ever i know. Please correct me if i'am wrong.

The A180 vibrates very very less compared to the A160. The later i think, starts to vibrate after crossing 65 km/hr and continue all the way till the red line, though the bike just goes, and revs more freely than the A180. Many like that character!. The vibrating range for the 180 is only between 4.5k to 6.0k engine rpm. But on my bike, i feel even this range too, very tolerable.

Did you run in your bike properly? Because, i think many dealers not even advice the most critical aspect such as this! But clearly stated in the Users Manual though

Since you've clocked more than 5000km, could try Motul 5100 ester 4T 10w40. This might smooth things up a little for you and give consistent engine performance. Plus, this is a superb Semi Synth oil too. After 8000 km, i started using it. Cost's around 450 INR.

May be the central nut or ball racer needs maintenance, which would solve the wobbling issue

Many say that A180's mileage in real world city conditions is 39km/liter (May be with 100% sane riding). That's a very reasonable mileage for a 180CC motorcycle, factory race tuned to the max possible limit. Remember 'Street Legal, but just barely'? They are not just sayin that, cos I and all the RTRians including you, have come to know that it's real.

I suggest you wait patiently, and repair the ride and restore it to the best possible condition

Man first thing your bike need is a "GOOD SERVICE".
All these problems u have mentioned happens with every bike, but could be solved easily.See if your service people are not responding well, then shoot a mail to TVS. I think your problem would be solved.
In my place the service is excellent, thats why my bike is still in best condition even after 2 yrs.
If still they dont respond, better go for the brand which gives good ASS.

            • Hey Guys.. .have noticed a strange problem with my RTR 180.. whenever i depress the clutch to downshift, a strange sound comes like "kooong kooong" the one which bicycles make when brake is applied...

              however this doesnt occurs always...

the ODO reads 580 kms.. will be going to the SVC tomorrow for the first servicing..

any idea what might be the problem?

+1 That's what you should do! Coz, any brand of bike would develop issues and no brand's SVC gives consistent smiles to customers.

I guess, it should be from the break pads since they might have not bedded in yet. And I think you are able to hear it when you engage the clutch because the engine noise levels go down as the engine RPM falls down.

Give some time and put some miles, it will resolve on its own.

Yes hope so. Will check the same after 1000kms... its very boring to ride in the running-in period

Chkd with TVS service centre, the K&N airfilter that they give with the kit is of model RC1200, Rs 1350. They also said that upjetting is not required for it. Anyone who uses the same filter can advice on this.

All the best for your new ride!!!

When you get your hands on it, be gentle on the throttle for at least 1000km. Limit top speed under 50km/hr. At the same time don't rev above 3.5k rpm on any gear. Also, vary the engine speed frequently. ie, if your doing 45-48, then roll off the throttle a bit and bring it back, especially on your highway stints. Use the brakes too, progressively. Try replacing the engine oil after some 250km or so. This might happen before your first service. And do change it on the 1st service again. Use mineral oil for around 5000kms.

BTW, you are gonna have absolute control along side fury ain't ya? Great!

                              Enjoy !
