    1. I feel bike is taller for me especially when driving through heavy traffic. My height is 5 ft 4 inch.
    2. I feel bike's balance is not uniform and it tend to move to right side when tried to drive with less pressure on handle bar.
So I decided to quit this bike and find a suitable bike for me which goes with my height.
I am looking for basic office commuter bike and shortlisted splendor pro and passion xpro.
i have driven splendor pro and it looks quite comfortable for my height.
I have seen the specifications of Passion xpro on Hero website and they are saying Saddle height of passion xpro is 785mm (which is same as splendor + and splendor pro). I have not driven passion xpro.
But if any of you has driven both the bikes, could you please explore it more about its seat height, comfort etc.
    Thank you all!!!
Splendor pro has excellent handling, good low end torque for city traffic, lights, power, build and overall quality is also great.
Nothing can beat a good test ride so first go and get a test ride,I am sure it will answer all your queries related to saddle height.
Rest assured, you can go for any of the listed bikes with closed eyes if you have checked the saddle height in-person.

Sibun should be able to answer other queries related to Xpro. As I did not get a chance to ride a Xpro,I don't want to comment on it.

By the way which bike were you doing for bigbore and from whom.
      Agree, I'm here to learn

Aah..I'm only in planning stage, but the aim is to bore with rtr 160's piston and get a vm28 carb. Or just the carb and get the maximum out from my 153cc engine
Gonna get it done from local mechs(if I'm doing it)

There's much more than just over-boring and using other bike's piston.
Some other parameters are to be considered such as

1.Is there enough material around the sleeve for you to bore out an extra 4mm ?
2.Piston pin/gudgeon pin diameter and small-end connecting rod diameter.
        3.Change in compression ratio
        4.Piston top/crown shape.
5.Clearance between the piston and valves.
6.Changes to the stock fueling system to account for more CC.
        7. Sprocketing will be needed as power delivery will change.

If you can take care of the above mentioned things along with figuring out things as and when needed to make this mod a success then go ahead.Otherwise opt for Joel's or other tried and tested big bore kits.

Engine modification isn't that easy,it takes a lot of time, effort, creativity and full knowledge about the engine's working and courage to face the worst case scenario. If you think you have all those then go ahead, best of luck.

You are absolutely right, regarding everything.I was a little afraid to climb that incline with pillion,it was not a road, but a shortcut made for people to walk,I did n't know before going halfway. Many people were walking so I thought safe is to ask pillion to walk.
I rode my friends shine, turns out it is indeed shorter. In the practical sense, really short means, the speed achieved on each gear will be less, compared to long gear, right?
One thing I can't understand..why is short better in cities than long? Many time in cities(towns),we have to stop, then accelerate as hard as possible to cross a crowded junction(No police/traffic lights, oncoming traffic won't slow down,so rip if you want to live kind of situations). So splendor needs large no of gear changes to reach a decent speed.Thats short, right?

Hey,my bike now 10 year old,19k(bike was resting a lot)still running on stock tire in front. Now bike fishtails at even <20kmph on braking rear hard.Good time to change tire?(Lot of grip still left).Any suggestions for tires?Planing to keep stock specs.
Short gear means the rpm compared to speed is more. Or in layman words if an engine revs more as to speed then it is short geared. Shine is shorter geared than even splendor. How else will you explain an engine putting out almost 11 bhp of power has only 5 kph top speed more than splendor. Most of the bikes coming now are short geared for making is city friendly. Sadly the days are gone when four strokes are built for easy cruising. Even my extreme is short geared. If it would have sixth gear then the gear ratio would have been perfect. I am thinking of plonking 42 teeth rear sprocket in my extreme.
Regarding splendor then it is not short geared. The 1st and 2nd gear are short geared for better pulling. But the third gear and fourth gear are sufficiently tall. For your information splendor can pull from 20 to 70 in third gear and 25 to 95 in 4th gear. So the gear ratios are perfect. Its just that the first and second gear are short.
Ten years is too much for tyres. Both will be very hard and thus will be fish-tailing. Change both the tyres for safety.

What do you mean by three gears on main-shaft ? Each gear on main-shaft has a corresponding gear on counter-shaft,no ?
All this gears sets should be interchangeable with each other(y2k and pre y2k,as a pair of-course).

GPT and Clutch gear teeth no. also changed ? OK,ok Further comments and doubts only after seeing the gear ratios. Please post it soon.
No, there are not always same number of gears on main shaft and counter shaft The main shaft has three gears and counter shaft four gears. The first and secong counter shaft gears mesh with same gear on main shaft. That is the reason why most bike if gear problem comes then first in second gear problem arises as it is the first to wear out.
Every bike has one gear short on main shaft than counter shaft as first and second gear always share same main shaft gear.
So for 5 gear bikes, main shaft has 4 gears and for six gear bikes main shaft has 5 gears.

Shine has very high vibrations at above 60 kph which makes it feel like pulling to one side.
For 5'4" passion will be very big. Do not look at saddle height take into consideration the full size of bike. Passion is bigger than shine in size.
Even i would not recommend splendor pro as you are downgrading from 125 cc so you will not feel comfortable.
I would recommend super splendor, because:-
          1. The completely loaded splendor pro comes here for 54k and super splendor(completely loaded and no options) for 59k.So hardly 4k difference.
          2. Super splendor is smooth as butter. Even at 80 kph it has no vibrations and the engine feels as if it has no load. Pay attention to any supersplendor on road at high speed and the engine note will be relaxed.
          3. The torque is at 10.35 Nm@ only 4000 rpm, so it will have excellent roll-on times and pull like locomotive.
          4. Engine and alloys are black in color, so looks more up-market.
          I will update more tommorow.

Am I getting confused due to the non-primary kick start circuit ?

Thank you so much for the pointers. Yes, the sleeve is safe to bore up to 66mm so no worries
Also gonna use vm28 round slide carbs.

Nothing, to feel offended as i had told you in PM, if you want to know about something, i am always ready to help you.
Yes, you are right there are four gears on main shaft, but you forgot something, it is the idler gear. As you know, main shaft always rotates with clutch, so when the transmission is in neutral, then the main shaft freely rotates. This high spinning main shaft causes vibration in bikes. So an idler gear is provided which rotates when the transmission is in neutral for damping the vibration the idler gear rotates. When gear is engaged the idler gear dis-engages and moves freely on main shaft. This is where engineering ides comes. Common sense is to provide three gears, if three gears are used, but in order to balance the weight and rotating force, idler gear is used.
Even in cars idler gear is used.
Also to maintain the spacing of gears with respect to counter shaft gears, idler gear is used, otherwise the gears on counter shaft and main shaft cannot be properly spaced and thus problems will arise when gear dog shift the gear.

I will post the detailed gear ratios and also S for sunny query as to why super splendor will be better for him.

Now, IMO, even though bike dimensions are more of passion xpro as compared to Shine, but as one can touch the ground with feet easily so I think xpro handling would be better.
Now seriously I need your expert opinion on above my opinions!

Ok,I understood fully now . Is it technically called "idler gear" or "balancer gear"?

                    The other thing-
I think the the kick starter gear is also used to splash oil and lubricate the other gears as the kick starter's gear always spins and is located near the bottom of the crankcase and is continuously bathed in oil. What do you say ?

Sleeve can be bored safely upto 6mm.

2.Piston pin/gudgeon pin diameter and small-end connecting rod diameter.

Have posted a query, not yet received correct measurements. Am assuming it'd be 17mm for both. Whats your opinion about using an adapter washer like ACS Sir used? Im abit doubtful cause Christo's bike would be in the redline 75% of the time.

                      3.Change in compression ratio

CR(If needed) will be compensated by shaving crown with respect to material density and valve pockets will also be left as a preventive measure.

                      4.Piston top/crown shape.
The piston crown on both bikes are domed.

5.Clearance between the piston and valves.

As mentioned above, valve pockets will be made with respect to clearance if needed.

6.Changes to the stock fueling system to account for more CC.

                      Mikcarb VM28 in mind.

                      7. Sprocketing will be needed as power delivery will change.

No need, since stock gearing itself is too tall to hit redline in 5th.

                          • gear ratios of pre 2000 bikes, y2k bikes and pro series bikes.

What do you say ?[/QUOTE]
Balancer gear is different from idler gear as balancer gear rotates in opposite direction of crank and balances out the vibes by crank.
Idler gear is always in transmission.
Idler gear are of two types:-
                            1. On main shaft - This is the type which is engaged during neutral and disengages during gear use. It is used to absorb transmission vibes during neutral and also to space gears properly.
                            2. Between main shaft and counter shaft-Used in cars. In this it is engaged during two times. One during neutral to absorb vibes and second when reverse is selected, it acts between main shaft and counter shaft and reverses the direction of counter shaft rotation.

Thanks for the lovely piece of Information.

I have the habit of doing clutch-less up-shifts and toe shiftier gives a very good "feel" of the gears hence the reason for using CD gear shiftier.I can also judge the condition of the engine oil and engine temperature by knowing when the gearshifts become relatively hard again, only a toe shiftier can give that feel.
Anyway no one can understand that better than you given the amount of riding experience you have with your joy.

Is the GPT/Clutch Ring gear (Primary ratio) ratio same across all the models ie. (Pre & post Y2K) 18/67 ?

The other query about oil pump -Why is the oil pump not supposed to be opened during a major overhaul ?

                              EDIT: Check this out http://www.gearingcommander.com/
