Both splendor+ and splendor pro are par on quality.
Why i recommend splendor pro over splendor + because:-
    1. Pro comes with 7.8 bhp and 8.04 Nm engine while + comes with 7.4 bhp and 7.8 Nm engine.
    2. + has normal rocker while pro has roller bearing rocker which reduces friction between camshaft and rocker arm
    3. + comes with old model carb and pro comes with new model carburettor like super splendor thus mileage is better and also better metering of fuel
    4. Tyres are CEAT ZOOM in pro while + comes with tvs tyre.
    5. In pro you get self start and also pass light which + lacks.
    6. In pro you get paper filter as opposed to foam in +.

These are some differences. SO it will be better to go for PRO as it has many advantages and if sometimes you were to ride it in place of your bike you will find it to be peppy.
Go for pro and go for self start and spoke version. Splendor looks better in spoke wheels.SO go for spoke wheels.
If any problem in getting color of your choice then contact me i have enough contacts with hero to get you bike of your color.
Thank you so much Sibun bhai. You have cleared all my queries, but the only doubt left is about the mileage. You have maintained your bikes in immaculate condition.

BTW...Congrats....All looks in showroom condition from outside.....and inside too (we all know for sure).
Thanks for the compliments. I always like to maintain my bike in best condition and even if a small problem is there i solve it at the earliest. My bikes are all new because i regularly wash it with shampoo and wax it.I never wash it at outside service center and always wash it at home. The other visible bike is a passion pro of my sister's classmate who had kept it at our house since he went to his native in college vacations. My father's splendor pro is not in picture otherwise it will be four bikes.
      ----------------
Is there a new passion released ? Saw one last week with different Head and tail lamp design.

      Headlight was Achiever style.
Yes, it is passion x pro. Not only it is redesigned but also completely different than the present passion.
It sports a vertical 110 cc engine unlike ours horizontal engine.
It is 8.7 bhp and 9.5 Nm of torque. Its chassis is diamond type like CBZ, rectangular swing arm, TCI (transistorized ignition),shorter silencer, tubeless tyres, disc brakes e.t.c
      .

      ----------------

      Another que,

When the vehicle registration expire is it possible to renew ? So that it can stay on road.

Fact is my passion registration will expire 2015, what to do next ? Can I re-register ?

Don't want to sell this maintenance free bike...
Yes, you can re-register it. You have to do a fitness certificate at the RTO. For this cost will be only Rs.1000 or less.

Expect mileage near about 70 kpl if well tuned. Nothing to worry go for spl pro. It will give more mileage than spl+.
If possible check the new passion x pro.

        Good Luck !
Sorry, I could not post a picture as I had already handed over the parts to the mechanic. But the brand stamped on the piston was KCC, I think.

The job has come off very well. This chap works only on one bike at a time and charged Rs 2500.00 towards labor. We retained the same head though with new valves. Ditto with the crankshaft, though with a new con rod. All the bearings except the rocker arm bearing were replaced. So were all seals and packings. I paid close to Rs 2800.00 towards the specialist lathe jobs. I suspect the fellow made some commission on that, but since I know him for a long time, I did not mind. The bike runs like new, and that is the most important thing!

Rough break-up as follows: Spares Rs 7500, Lathe Rs 2800, labor Rs 2500, two tyres + tubes Rs 3500, new Vega helmet Rs 900, total Rs 17200.00! I will upload pics later, though there was no cosmetic job done and the bike still looks the same.

Thanks for all the inputs, guys!

        • Guys i own a 2002 Splendor , it has done 43000km..parts changed are..
          1. Chain sprocket set
          2.Tyres
          3.Air filter
          4.Engine Oil at 1500KM 10W30 (HH)

I have a query that suspension and forks are very vague and do not smoothen the road jerks..
I have changed the fork oil on both front and rear but still no avail..

Do you suggest change of springs ??? I something else can be done
Carb Tuning made easy (Thanks Sibun !)

No , suspension is better on the new HF Dawn and HF Deluxe compared with my 2010 Splendor+ . It's 2-step adjustable at the rear now . HF dawn is the lowest priced Hero , yet has the new type engine (7.8bhp and 8.04nm) and the new 8-pole magneto . Consequently new type carburetor too . It is available in the more durable spoke wheel model . It comes factory fitted with very well chromed leg-guard, saree guard, rear carrier etc and an lockable mainstand . It's foam air-filter is serviceable (and doesn't need replacement) . It does not have self start - which I think is good , less parts to go wrong = less problems . It has the new DC CDI ignition . New round multi-reflector HS1 halogen headlamp ( only HF Dawn has round headlamp among all Hero bikes now) is the best I have seen on a stock HeroHonda yet . Parts quality is equivalent to other Hero bikes and cheaper . Fuel mileage will be same as Deluxe/Splendor-pro if not better . Maintenance is simplest of the 3 you chose . Moreover I have rode this model myself and found it to be just as good as my Splendor+ , if not a little better on the torque and headlamp brightness . Handling is like all other HH bikes , nice and easy (there is minor differences in handling between these models, even between two bikes of the same model sold consecutively - but eventually everyone gets used to his own bike) .
Of course Splendors have higher resale value than almost all similar bikes in the market today . But it also costs about 10k more than the HF Dawn . So even if you sell it for 10k less than the Splendor one day , you have saved 10k at todays value plus interests earned .
Overall it is a good one to buy for your employees as a business runabout - as you say you require .
People like us who care for little more performance, power and istylee and do not care for a little more money should without doubt go for the new Passion-XPro now ( or await the Splendor-XPro if addicted to Splendors ) .
You are welcome to ask a lot more questions please .

A fork overhaul should normally solve this. Consult an experienced mechanic.

And switch over to 20W40 oil, if you want to preserve your engine for a long time!

Can you let us know what all you replaced (detailed list if possible)?
Apart from the crank and valve job what else did you get done by that lathe ?

If not pictures,do you mind posting an audio clip of your engine running ?

Yes i also polish the un painted plastics so that they do not fade in UV rays. I use dashboard polish. I always keep both mirrors in all bikes and also every time i ride i check for focusing of both mirrors. My sister also checks both mirrors before riding. You will be surprised to know my sister's pleasure returns 55-60 kpl regularly.

                      • Oiled/Replaced air filter. Thanks to you guys for providing good info. After replacing, bike took more than one kick to start in morning. This usually never happen. Now its ok.But does it mean that I over oiled the filter?
Another trouble:I think its throttle free play problem. The problem is that I have to give a lot of throttle. For eg,earlier bike used to touch 80's in 4th when 3/4th throttle was applied. Now when giving full throttle only 65 kmph.It feels very easy to give full throttle on any gear, but engine is not revving up high enough?
"Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

                          Well,It is normal for a worn-out chain-sprocket.
Check the front and rear sprocket for abnormal wear, clean the sprockets.
That noise as I observed is caused due to uneven wear, check for any tight spots. Is the chain making any noise or does it sound like a loose chain while going over bumps with a pillion at more than 30kmph ?
Have you changed the Master Link ? Please note that- If a new link is used on a worn-out chain then every time it passes over the sprocket it will give a shock because the other links have already stretched due to stress.

Only front sprocket has worn out from side wall. And i reverse it and fitted. Rest chain & rear sprocket is fine. The only problem is its out of align. You know its a common problem with hero chains.
The chain slack is correct. I checked, it didn't touch the swing arm at all. The chain is already washed. That is a old shoot video. The chain is lubed still there is a sound.
I never changed a master link. Nor i have change.
The sound is more on double ride. I can hear the sound clearly at 20-25 kph or less. You can hear the sound is coming continuously. Even where the chain is loose or tight.

Is that a hero chain ? I also have a hero chain and has all the symptoms that your video shows. That's why I asked you if your chain makes noise with a pillion.
No matter how much I clean, lube and adjust ,I am just unable to remove the tight-spots. FYI,my hero chain has done only 8K and is good for another 3k kms only. Ditto with the timing chain except that it has started making sound at just 5k kms. Previously it was running on a rolon chain and I replaced it after running 65k kms.
(Bike refers to my 05 Passion here)

Alignment issue leads to excess thrust on the either side of sprockets which causes it to wear unevenly and ultimately the chain will start "jumping" and make that noise.

As Sibun has rightfully mentioned Hero Chains should be avoided as far as possible.

Hmm...thats why i wanted to go for DID chain kit this time. My chain kit & timing chain both have covered 9600 km but timing chain is going without any noise.
Need to search for DID, its not available here, i think only i can get from kolkatta.

You said that 45W halogen is not available in your city. Actually it is not available anywhere. Because, i've search all over the internet, and no common halogen manufacturer like (halonix, philips, osram, bosh or whatever) here produce 45W bulb. I search in their product list. I searched all over my city, i went to bike spare shops, all they say we keep 35W bulb, 45W bulb will be available at car spare shops. And you know what, i went to about 10 car shops, see my patience, and all they have is 60, 90, 100w not 45W. They said 45W is not available, u can get at bike spare shop. I understood, its not manufactured except by "Eiko" its a US company, and i dont think EIKO bulbs a available here.
