Hi guys as previously reported most of the issues of my Splendor ismart are resolved but only one issue is pending and it is when you park the bike in sunlight the bike refuses to start and only starts on the third self or a second very long self. If anybody has faced this issue please share your experience and should I raise the issue as the service Centre has no solution they say it is a higher cc bike[emoji23], it appears to me that Hero is only able to make perfect 100 cc bikes not less not more jokes apart should I raise this issue and to whom.

We can understand when its cold but parking in a sunlight shouldn't be a problem. Also this is not a major problem which mechanic would be interested to fix it, they basically ignore it. Understand this, starting problem is only related to AFR if mechanical parts and spark is in good condition. Perfect AFR or slightly rich would start the bike at one kick or self. Yours is not a problem i don't understand why it bothers you.

Yes actually it bothers me because it is quite embarrassing when your new bike is taking a long time to crank in front of friends and friend's old Activa and Apache's are starting at single crank and what is Afr?

Our neighbour has an 8 year old splendor plus. We would see each other every morning. My bike was 2 years old at that time. He would vigorously kick the starter for 10 to 15 times and somehow after the bike starts, he would rev the crap out of it. After I watch all these, I just gently kick the starter (first morning start with kick) and my bike idles without touching the throttle.

AFR is air fuel ratio. There is an adjustable screw given at all the carburetors. This screw can be air screw or fuel screw (only one, not both). You can google to learn more about this and how to identify them and know what it is. With air screw you adjust the amount of air goes inside the engine. Rotating clock wise reduce air and anti-clock increase the air. More air will create starting problem at cold start, not when hot. In some cases, for example in winter season when air become more dense create more starting problem. In such cases, people use choke to start the bike, what choke does is, it block the air completely and engine starts easily on fuel and when the engine is running we close the choke. So if you reduce the air intake from afr screw, a little rich, then bike would start without problem only if its related to air fuel mixture.

To know if afr is correct, learn how to read your spark plug. The color of the spark plug will tell you the story. Also if you want to learn how to adjust afr, i have written an article in detail on the thread, search for it. It has been discussed so many time over here and on the site. Use google to know more about this. Self knowledge is very important.

I am thinking of replacing the front ( drive ) sprocket of my 2010 Splendor Plus because it has become noisy and bit worn . Mechanic suggested reverse fitting it which I don't want to . Chain is at 3.5 mark of adjustment so it's good and rear sprocket is also good .
Is it okay to change the front sprocket only ? It is 14 teeth part number 23801-GF6-000 , right ? Should get OE one or other make ? Approx price ? Please suggest friends .

If it's cheap, then you can go ahead and get only the front sprocket (i.e. if they sell just the front sprocket). I know some might disagree on this, but on a bike like the splendor it should be fine especially since you have sufficient adjustment left and the rear looks good. Get the OE one or Rolon. Sorry I have no clue on the part numbers!
Even I've noticed the front sprocket worn out (hooked teeth) on my duke 200.. rear and chain is fine with ample adjustment and no noises yet. But unfortunately these ktm buggers don't just sell the front sprocket.

It is normal for the front sprocket to get worn from side wall. Teeth should not be worn. It doesn't effect performance. Reverse fitting works, also suggested by sibun. No need to buy IMO.

After a long time posting something. Was busy with life. Bike is clocking kilometers without any problems and thus no updates. Odometer is at 3.98 Lacs kilometers.
                            Switched to 20 w 40 from 10 w 40 as engine is getting old.
Running like charm. Did few changes in carb settings. Speedo climbs faster than before. Also ordered a inductive tach and times with that. Bike is back to factory tuning. Mileage hovers between 75-77 lol.

Can you please share where you ordered an inductive tacho, cost and for what it would be used for - tuning the carb/idle rpm adjustment?

SOLD off my cast iron engine Bullet 350 with right hand side gear.
Felt like buying a stress free daily commute bike which is reliable, maintenance free and can be used rough without preformance getting affected.

So booked and bought Splendor Classic Pro cafe racer single seater from bikewale.com

This is the longest ride mentioned below. Went to Trimbakeshwar on Mahashivratri riding in the night to have darshan in morning. Went via Mumbai - Thane to NH3 and after reaching Trimbakeshwar did a Shiv-ji parikrama on motorcycle by coming back through Jawhar, Vikramgad, Manor via NH 8 to Thane to Mumbai.

If you feel Bullet or Harley Davidson is not the only motorcycle for touring and if you believe these small capacity bikes are safer because they are limited in speed which is essential against potholes, obstacles, stones, rubble, street dogs, cattle, villagers crossing, etc - then lets meet up and ride on a weekend in Mumbai.

For anyone on two wheels, motorcycling enthusiasts, Harley-Davidson Magazine, seekers of information on building and maintaining motorcycles, motorcycles for sale, Sturgis Rally.

                                Thanks and best wishes,
