Yes, it can be done, though both are 2 different bikes with varying engine characteristics.Originally posted by archis.das View PostGot a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
As Divya has already mentioned, please check the AFR and chain slackness, re-clean the air filter and make sure that the old engine oil is actually drained completely .. just topping up won't do any good(service center people do it to save time and effort).Originally posted by archis.das View PostAlso i forgot to mention speedometer needle is not stable after 50 kmph it shakes back and forth and moves forward.
And for the speedo problem, please make sure both the speedo sensor and speedo cables are working fine.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Please find the pic of my bike's spark plug and suggest whether it needs to be changed or not.Originally posted by krishna77 View PostAs Divya has already mentioned, please check the AFR and chain slackness, re-clean the air filter and make sure that the old engine oil is actually drained completely .. just topping up won't do any good(service center people do it to save time and effort).

Looks to me that it needs to me cleaned. Better, take it to a mechanic to get the resistance levels checked. Spark plugs generally does not need to be changed with so less km.s on the odo.Originally posted by archis.das View PostPlease find the pic of my bike's spark plug and suggest whether it needs to be changed or not.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Fuel mixture is rich. Mileage per liter should be less. Am I correct??Originally posted by archis.das View PostPlease find the pic of my bike's spark plug and suggest whether it needs to be changed or not.
Get the carb adjusted and change air filter.

Its tuned slightly towards richer side , mileage is near about same , main problem is bikes is not smooth after reaching 50 kmph speed is it normal for a 100 cc bike? or i am expecting too much?Originally posted by kris123456 View PostFuel mixture is rich. rich fuel mixture means less air and more petrol going inside carb ,hence less mileageOriginally posted by kris123456 View PostFuel mixture is rich. Mileage per liter should be less. Am I correct??

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
That's not the case at all ! Splendor shall go to 60kmph eagerly , in hurry and with smooth pleasure . Then it climbs to 70 in a little less hurry ( but nicely & smooth as before ) and goes to 80+ with relative ease on long stretches of road . Above 75kmph it may feel as if a little unwilling to climb , but thats it - it'll still go easily .Originally posted by archis.das View PostIts tuned slightly towards richer side , mileage is near about same , main problem is bikes is not smooth after reaching 50 kmph speed is it normal for a 100 cc bike? or i am expecting too much?
From your spark plug pic I can say that your engine is running lean , and not rich as it may appear from the black outer ring . The electrodes and center ceramic is whitish , indicating low fuel in the mix . The black carbon on the outer edge ( shell ring of the plug ) is from riding mostly in city traffic , my plug has that too . don't let that fool you . This is why your fuel-mileage is great
In the end my humble advice is to take over the servicing and maintenance of the bike yourself and stop entrusting it fully to mechanics or service center . Splendor is a very easy to service bike , start by reading the owner's manual throughly .
You can fit an Iridium plug if you wish , it does make the starting and engine run little easier . Plus it lasts twice as much as the standard plug and requires zero maintenance during it's lifetime . I am using ngk g-power ( CR7HGP ) plug which has all these benefits at a quite reasonable cost .
Your bike is at relatively very low miles , it will get a lot smoother beyond 10k - 15k kms . At 5000 kms I was replacing the oil quicker ( @ every 1000 kms ) because the engine still is at wearing-in stage . You can use a fuel additive like AdonP ( indianoil pumps has it ) @ 1ml per liter and try to go for some long rides on open roads with your bike and run it hard - it'll help open-up the engine .Last edited by Pinaki; 12-16-2017, 04:59 AM.

Thanks a lot for your advise
I will try myself and turn the AFR slightly towards richer side and watch. As per current setup mileage is 70+ on city

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Pinaki Da, tested today with AFR turned towards richer side by 0.5 turn and correct tyre pressure now its climbing to 50kmph quickly but lagging after that also i am having a feeling that engine rpm is more than engine speed and this might also causing the speedo needle to shake after 50kmph.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostThat's not the case at all ! Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Speedo needle shake is unrelated to engine or performance . It usually happens if the speedo cable , pinion or meter is damaged or mismatched or improperly fitted in someway . you can take out the speedo inner cable from it's casing and grease it and refit . Check the cable is fitting tight and okay at both ends .Originally posted by archis.das View PostPinaki Da, tested today with AFR turned towards richer side by 0.5 turn and correct tyre pressure now its climbing to 50kmph quickly but lagging after that also i am having a feeling that engine rpm is more than engine speed and this might also causing the speedo needle to shake after 50kmph.Pls advise.
Don't understand what you mean by "engine rpm is more that engine speed" ?
Try turning the AFR screw on the carb clockwise by one full turn , then keep adjusting if necessary . It is an air-adjusting screw , so clockwise(tighter) means less air and a richer mix .
How old is the air-filter . Anyone tried to clean or tamper with it ? Check the manual for replacement interval . I don't know the replacement interval for the paper type air-filter , my bike has oiled-foam type .
Adjust clutch lever to have free-play for about half-way of it's full travel . Chain slack is adjusted correctly ? Chain is lubricated ? - Chain lube & adjustment affects gear shift ease more than anything else . Try it .Originally posted by archis.das View PostChanged clutch plates today..
