Finished overhauling the engine of my friend's engine.
Thanks a lot Sibun for your support over PM.

    Exhaust Valve was burnt severely.
    Crank main bearings had play.
Big-end bearing had too much play.
Clutch housing bushes were shot, too much play between primary ring gear and housing.
Bore was glazed ,hone marks were not visible but it did not have any scratch/seize marks.
Piston was 0.25 oversize,Sibun can you find something odd in piston ?
Carbon deposit on piston was not hard but flaky, head had hard deposits.
All the gaskets were re-used by the previous owner, even the o-rings were re-used by applying sealant.

Vibrations and oil leakage was the main reason for opening the crankcases.

Man, you all are getting hyper.
I am not much helping anyways. If you all have been anywhere near to me then i could have helped you more.
Also i had PM my number to shoeb, but i think he didn't feel the need to call me.
It always feels good to help others.
In this 12 years of my bike ownership i have experimented with bike a lot.So i can help others. Also i would like to tell that all are like my brothers and friends.
@Pinaki- Also i would like to meet you. I have a trip to kolkatta on 9th but i cannot meet you as i would be with my staffs as i have a conference. If i get time then i will call you to meet. Please PM me your number if you do not have any problem.
@Shoeb- There is nothing to thank me. I feel happy when i talk with you all here.
Most of the people, i meet do not have any feeling towards their bike nor they have any interest in automobiles.
So i like to help you all here and interact with you all. I feel elated when i talk about bikes.
Do not worry, i will surely meet you. You are also any time welcome to bhubaneswar. But i assure you that i will meet you and also stay with you a day.
I am planning an all indian trip of 20 days on my CBZ extreme in the month of january.
In that trip i will surely visit most of the cities where i have friends. This includes hyderabad, kerala, chennai, kolkatta.
It will be a round trip but let me find a suitable time.
Initially my plan was to do the trip on my JOY in 30 days, but let me do it on my extreme, and next year i will do it on my joy. I want to prove that hero honda bike after 13 years and 3.5 lac(expected after 1 year) can still give a new bike a run for money.
    @ ATHUL-
I have not helped you in any way. If it would have been here then you would have seen, i would have changed your crank and bore kit under warranty. Any ways since you had a good rapport with the MD, its all good.
For you color query, as purnavasu has indicated it is lacquer coating. Lacquer coat is not harmful but it is coated on almost every painted part except the matt finish part. But the quality of lacquer and the method of applying is important.
Your bike already has a lacquer coat and those idiots have done another using hand. So the solution is to remove the top layer lacquer without harming the original lacquer coat.
    So the procedure is:-
    1. The materials required:-
a 2000 grit silicon carbide paper(2000 and not less), motomax 2k rubbing compound paste(Rs.60), a wax such as 3M.
    2. Cut the paper into square stripes of 2*2 cm and immerse them in water for 1 hour.
    3. Not make car shampoo and apply all over tank.
    4. Now take out a piece of paper and rub over the affected area in longitudinal or horizontal motion. Do not use circular motion. Use very light pressure.
    5. After cleaning the complete tank wash the tank thoroughly and let it dry.See if it has any more white portion left. Now apply motomax 2k rubbing compound and polish it.
    6. Then use a wax and coat it.
This is a very delicate work.
Some of the important things are:-
use only 2000 grit paper and no less, the paper should be always wet, and the surface rubbed should always be wet with shampoo and not get dry.
However if you are not confident then take it to a reputed painter, he will do it for Rs.500.
Also he will coat a new layer of lacquer using gun, and your tank will be like straight out of factory.

You are most welcome man my doors are always open for you anytime. Sometimes i say to myself that I'm so lucky to get a friend like you. The experience on this xbhp has really changed my way of thinking towards my bike. As i told before, the enthusiasm i got here has made my bike run so perfectly that now I really love ridding it. And all goes to you sibun.

I was thinking it is impossible to remove whitish thing layer on my tank...but anyhow i done it. Some guys thought here I would need a new or second hand tank ...but I done it. and a motivation to this I got when I saw your bike pictures

I'm going to post my jaan pictures for the first time here....so that others can know for whom i'm mad for..
I'm not able to get like factory finish but still it is better than in its 9 years of age
I wish if i were taken on the day light ..would have come much better!

still need to work on somethings to make it look more better. But it has improved a lot.

Pinky makes parts of crown and pinion. Unlike original which are made of plastic, pinky makes of steel and thus are longer lasting. Even TOP makes them. Search in outside shops you will get. For YAMAHA FAZER each and every part is available.

How would you rate this oil on a scale of 1-10 ?
I will be changing oil this weekend and I was thinking to try out Veedol Take-off 4t if I don't find Super Swift 10W40 even-though Motul 3000 20W40 satisfies all my requirements.
If you drain the engine oil hot and within 3k kms there is no need for any kind of engine flush.

I never use a mineral engine oil beyond 1500-2000kms but this Motul 3000 is very good even after 2800 kms.
I think it can last upto 3.5k kms but then its like asking too much from a mineral oil.Engine is smooth but gear shifts have become "little" notchy.

                      @Pinaki Ji
Did you try out Gulf Pride Synth ? Apparently IOCL's Servo Synth 4T is a SS blend and it makes me wonder if Gulf's Synth is also a blend.

                      Comment

                      • Better stick with the motul or try out gulf 20w40 which I can vouch for - it's good , but behaves differently from motul's , you may like it . Or you may try out the gulf 10w30 synthetic too , since it's under 30C now here and is going to get cooler from now on . No , I have not poured in mine yet - still have another bottle of HeroHonda 10w30 which I am determined to finish off by this winter ... so . Dunno about Servo's 4T Synth - have just seen the hoardings for it here now , but Gulf's Synth is not a semi or blend - it's full synthetic , possibly(given the price) petroleum derived which they called group-III hydrocracked in the industry. For all purposes it is very like group-IV PAO synthetic oils , except for it's life which I don't care much about since I'd be changing it at 2000Kms/4 months anyway . Few countries does not allow group-III based oils to be marketed as synthetic (like Germany) since it's based on highly refined petroleum stock only .With the climbing prices of mineral oils , even little better than standard mineral for Rs300 is welcome .

@paul - Bike is looking awesum ! What are you using to polish the plastics and handle-grips ? I surely need sum of that !

                        @shoeb - your inbox is full , didn't take pm .

Shoeb bhai i will give this oil a rating of 8. It made my engine smooth..And for the engine flushing part i just did it as a trial..

before changing the oil add motor flush to crank case..run the engine for five minutes ..occasionally rev it,,,change the gears first to last and last to first ..flush out..
Amount of flush = 10% of engine oil capacity..for me its 100 ml to 1 litre...The bottle i got is about 500 ml...for cars we have to add the full can

100 ml only i cant trust this. Its somethings sounds like its a cleaner and degreaser.
Did u try cleaning your oily hands with this?
Make your hands dirt with your chain sprocket black grease/oil, and apply this motor flush to see how well its cleans...pls let me know that!
