  • Please post a pic bhai Shibadip . I suspect that's not the Dash-board polish you got but the vinyl-dashboard protector spray . I saw that too at the shop when I got mine . PM me for the wax , it's readily available in kolkata . ( owing to some browser+OS+new_xbhp_format problems I am able to reply but not write messages right now).

I hinted you this already but didn't stress on it , since subjective observations like this gives rise to heated arguments on public forums . Perhaps there is no slip as such , you are just feeling the difference . You'll not find the snappy clutch pull of motul 3000 in other oils , I like it very much . Also check if your clutch is adjusted correctly and not too tight with little free-play .
And what about kick/clutch slipping in morning ? Free play is fine. I will change this oil within 1500 kms and check if kick slips even after switching motul.
It can also be a co-incidence that my clutch has started to slip just after the oil change.
(I am suspecting the local clutch springs which I used four months ago but cant say anything till I switch to another oil)

I am using SHELL ADVANCE vx7 for 2 years and there is no problem.
Regarding motul, it is one of best oils but it feels too thick for me.
Check your springs. Man why did you go for local springs. There was no need to change springs and instead continue with old one. The new springs cost Rs.35 each and local springs will never last.

        • Yes,I agree that I foolishly replaced those springs without any reason. After all ,everyone learns from their mistakes.

          • I've never changed my springs and pressure plate in 9 years.

Don't bother , use up the oil untill it gives up . It's a good oil . As long as there is no slip after warm-up , it's not a problem that I'd pay any heed to . Sometime later as and when you get opportunity, replace those springs with original - offmarket springs can have a different tension than is specified for the proper engagement of clutch by the manufacturer even when new , and can gradually give it up over time too . Since Splendor does not have primary kick start , it is quite sensitive to clutch settings during kick starts . I used to have kick-slips when the bike was brand new , no more so now .

ps - since I prefer riding the Splendor so much now(it's too smooth & easy to ride in city) , I am getting rid of the 3 less used bikes asap . Deals almost final .

No doubt, this engine oil is very good.

Yes,this bike is very light yet stable, small engine yet enough power and it is the best commuter bike IMO with hassle free experience unless one tinkers with it too much.
I love the sound when the engine enters its power-band and makes a very pleasing roaring and thumping sound which I cannot describe in words.

Yesterday evening when I was returning to home and riding at speed of ~40 kmph ,an idiot decided to ride out from apartment's exit ramp at relatively high speed without looking anywhere.
Thank god my tires did not lock and I could swerve out easily while braking. (It was a RCC road with very less grip)

What is the local/trivial name of valve grinding/lapping paste ? Where should I be looking to get this paste ? Auto-parts store /Two-wheeler parts/or somewhere else ??
The shopkeepers either do not know grinding paste or they are not able to get me ,all they have for me is gasket sealing paste.

Search search search until u get it! Thats what i do to get the products in my hand.
I also searched a lot to get a valve grinding paste from waxpol, as per my experience small auto parts store don't even know what is grinding paste.
After searching a lot, i got in a big car auto parts shop. It was asking for Rs.70 but after searching more, i got it in a tools shop for Rs.55 @ 100gm.
So first ask in all tools shops then go for big dealer of car auto shops.

Ask a friendly mechanic or a lathe operator, they may be able to guide you or even get it for you. You can even try heavy automobiles spare-parts shop but go there when there are less customers so that the shopkeeper can understand what you want.
                          Best of luck.!

                          • What is the price of a Splendor carb? Its a 17mm Keihlin unit right?
Also, I want to know the price of the air filter in the Splendor.

I'm going to my native place in another 10 days and want to service my dad's 97 model Splendor myself. I guess he's facing the-carb-slide-getting-stuck problems and his mechanic simply charges him for nothing. Moreover, I guess he hasn't replaced the air filter for quite some time. No wonder he complains of 60 kmpl mileage.
                            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

                            • The splendor carburettor is 18 mm and bajaj carb are 16 mm. there is no 17 mm carb in keihin.
If you buy OE keihin will cost you Rs.1750.
If you buy SPACO will cost you Rs.1300.
But first see the carb before changing.Check the main jet, slow jet and needle. Note down the number and then post here.
Note all the three number. While slow jet and main jet will have numerical value needle will have alpha numerical value.
Note down and post then i will tell you which carb to buy.
There are many models of carb among hero honda bikes. If you by mistake fit other carb then your bike will always misfire.

So post then i will guide you to fit which carb.
And regarding stuck carb slide, just clean the carb and see which position the needle is. If it is third position from top then up it to 2nd position from top. The more up you move the e-clip the more lean it will become.Usually when carb becomes old the needle needs to move lower or move the clip one point up.
But after moving the needle feel the mid range from 40-70, it should be crisp and not lazy.If it feels lazy then return to old setting. If in old setting the bike bogs down then move the clip up.

OE filter cost Rs.96 for both the foam and the black cover.

@MSU- go to truck spares dealer or parts shop near lathe and you will get it.
The spares shop near lathes keep it.
