Congrats to Balaji and Krishna. Cool, so Ninja's on the prowl. Numbers going up. Guess they will become as common as CBR.
Chill, no more counter offensive on this.
By the way, which oil are Ninja's using? I am talking about the first 100 kms - 200kms mineral oil change, during break-in period of engine?

A slip-on will not change the dynamics of the bike much as its purely for auditory pleasure. A full system makes a big difference. I'm assuming you are talking about a slip-on pipe.
Yes, just have the slip-on. Simply put, i feel the bike having to make a lot more effort than before to go from 0-60. Also, when i start, the red FI button goes on and remains on till i let the bike idle. Moment i twist the throttle, it goes off.

No such issues faced when starting in the evenings on way back from office.

Am confused, maybe should take it to probiking for a full check, hope this doesn't mean having to delay my touring plans which start coming thursday

Your FI light SHOULD NOT remain on after the self-check at startup. I suggest you take your bike to Bajaj service without further ado. They may try to point to the aftermarket as the culprit, dont buy that. Tell them to get to the root of the problem.

+1. Slip on exhausts force exhaust gases out much faster than stock cans due to lesser restriction in the flow of hot gases.

This can cause the engine to run lean. Signs of an engine running lean is a pop sound when you let go of the gas. This can be detrimental to the engine in the long run. I recollect another member also saying he lost his low end grunt after a slip-on.

Get a thorough check done. From what i know i can say that the ECU is not able to compensate the change in the AFR (Air fuel ratio) and has retarded the timing. Hence loss of power as you say.

DIY fix for this issue - disconnect the battery terminals and leave aside for 20 mins. Pump the brakes a few times and reconnect the battery terminals. Go for a short ride and blast away on the bike. You should be able to get the old juice back.

So how is this possible? Modern ECU's are built to work on a variety of variables and function as EPROM's (Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). When you disconnect the battery the ecu resets. Once its reconnected and you rip the bike, the ecu learns the new readings and inputs (variables) and stores these in its memory.

I have done this and it works. You can also ride sedately after flashing the ECU and you'll see a bump in the mileage too. Do note that the ECU will go back to its factory settings (the way its programmed and built to function) after a while. You issue may disappear with this. Hope it helps.

                          3) Gel based seat cover (its really soft and should give comfort to my backside on long rides)
                          4) New Tank Pad (some moron tried to remove the old one and could not do it completely so the end result is that he's gone with a part of it and as a result my bike has an incomplete/ partial tank pad now)
                          5) I dunno what you would call this one but it's a green coloured rubber thing that goes over the gear lever so that it does not spoil your formal shoes (i.e. if you wanna go for a short spin with them on). I actually did that and spoilt the leather on my shoe.

                          Parts in transit:-

                          6) Gear indicator
                          7) Integrated LED Tail light (clear lens) with turn signals

You can use the semi synth motul for 6000 kms, no issues. I change every 5000 kms and there is no burnt smell or change in viscosity in the oil.
The cost of 12,000 km service is not 8k. It was Rs.3,212 including Bajaj DTSi engine oil costing Rs.496/-.

Service receipt is shown for details of items.

                              • Not surprised at the bill, but, how come they charge SERVICE TAX (Rs 106.81) for labor? Is there a tax that can be levied on labor?
