Thats some very useful info.. Especially the ECU part.Originally posted by n_aditya View Post+1. Slip on exhausts force exhaust gases out much faster than stock cans due to lesser restriction in the flow of hot gases.
This can cause the engine to run lean. Signs of an engine running lean is a pop sound when you let go of the gas. This can be detrimental to the engine in the long run. I recollect another member also saying he lost his low end grunt after a slip-on.
Get a thorough check done. From what i know i can say that the ECU is not able to compensate the change in the AFR (Air fuel ratio) and has retarded the timing. Hence loss of power as you say.
DIY fix for this issue - disconnect the battery terminals and leave aside for 20 mins. Pump the brakes a few times and reconnect the battery terminals. Go for a short ride and blast away on the bike. You should be able to get the old juice back.
So how is this possible? Modern ECU's are built to work on a variety of variables and function as EPROM's (Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). When you disconnect the battery the ecu resets. Once its reconnected and you rip the bike, the ecu learns the new readings and inputs (variables) and stores these in its memory.
I have done this and it works. You can also ride sedately after flashing the ECU and you'll see a bump in the mileage too. Do note that the ECU will go back to its factory settings (the way its programmed and built to function) after a while. You issue may disappear with this. Hope it helps.
Thanks buddy

There are not much changes made to 2011 Ninja 250R
Just the white console and introduction of White color bike for the international maket.
However the changes seen in india are just the white console and Green rear tails.

Labour charges attract service tax and sales of any material attracts VAT.Originally posted by aargee View PostNot surprised at the bill, but, how come they charge SERVICE TAX (Rs 106.81) for labor? Is there a tax that can be levied on labor?
People have a habit of quoting wrong figures. This is the reason why I am extra cautious about them.Originally posted by vkuchhal View PostThis is some good news.. 3212 is not a big amount.. .

BTW, as I mentioned earlier, this 3212 also includes engine oil change.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Thanks Guys for all the info. Its really helpful.
I am really thinking of getting one. But cant think of selling it atleast for 5 Years if I get it. Need to manage a lot of things (financialy) before going for actual buy.
And brother, ninja's headlights are comparable with a 4 wheeler, they do light up the night...

So how come someone quoted 8k???I dont know if your post was directed at me but I remember seeing the printed poster with breakup of charges against the work done and at the service interval. The 3rd service was 5k odd and when i spoke to Prasanna he mentioned it has increased to 6.5k. Justin called for an appointment for his bike and he was given an estimate for 8k. I guess we people in blore pay more. I dont see any logic why the charges are more here unless taxes (vat etc.) is different.Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostPeople have a habit of quoting wrong figures. Hope this clarifies. I dont have such a habit either.

Insurance
Friends - Got a quote for 3457/- for IDV of 2,40,000/- from Bajaj Allianz. Is it a good deal? Anyone read the Bajaj Allianz policy between the lines?
BTW...are all insurance policies the same or are there any major differences from one Insurance provider to another? Right now, all I am checking is the premium and the IDV.The company I keep:
Yamaha Rx100
Yamaha RD 350 (HT)
Bajaj Pulsar 150
Kawasaki Ninja 250r

BA was not too keen on covering the ninja as it is a high risk vehicle (according to them). Didnt want this to pose issues in the event of a claim.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

I too wanted to do that, but the problem with Oriental guys is that they are typical Govt. sector. They give no info on the phone, the executive does not come to us, we need to go over to their office and stand in a line. Made me wonder, how problematic it might be to make a claim from them!Originally posted by n_aditya View PostMy advice is to continue with Oriental. My IDV on renewal is INR 249,000.
