Hi guys,
My bike has done around 3600 kms odd. I am planning to give my bike for a check up at pbk. Do i need to change the engine oil?? If yes which oil should i go for or do i stick with the oil that pbk uses?? Also i face an issue of rear brake fade on occasions either in heavy traffic or after a high speed run of abt 20 odd kms. The rear lever has absolutely no feel to it even when pressed all the way down. However after a rest of about 20 mts the brake is fine. What could be the problem? Can pbk fix it?? Your inputs are much sought after.

For engine oil, you can go for Motul Mineral Oil 20W-50 grade which is specified grade for the Ninja. Go for Mineral Oil as your engine is still new and engine components are still bedding in properly. You can go for semi-synth or fully synth after 6k Kms mark. PBK have also started stocking up Motul Oils but they only have Fully Synth 7100 20W-50.Originally posted by rohitraghavan View PostHi guys,

Regarding your rear brakes, it may due to air bubble in the brake lines that is causing this. You can get this checked at the PBK and ask them to bleed the lines and fill in the brake fluid correctly.

You can get genuine Motul oils in Autoservice(Monotype,Banashankri 2nd stage).Originally posted by rohitraghavan View PostThanks a ton kariznin.
Bangalore Guys,
Any idea where i can get genuine motul mineral oil in Bangalore & the cost. If difficult to find pls suggest some good alternatives.
Guys on another note,
I have completed 5000kms in a little over 2 months.I use my bike for daily commute of which atleast 50% percent of the roads are in pathetic conditions with potholes and ditches and what not.And the roads are extremely dusty too.
Off late I am worried about the toll that these roads are taking on my bike, and if its appropriate to use a Ninja on such roads.
What extra maintenance must I take if i continue on such roads?(I do the chain lubing every 500kms or after rains and washes)
Also I switched to Motul Mineral oil on my 1st service. Now the Oil has turned pitch black.Having run 4000kms on the oil, would it be advisable to change the oil now or wait it out till the 2nd service at 6000kms.
I have also noticed a slight mileage drop of 3-4kmpl on the same roads and same riding style. Can filter clogging cause such a drop?what is the ideal interval for getting the filter cleaned? or should I follow according the manual.REVVADDICT

You just have to get used to the fact that the road conditions arent going to improve and adjust your riding style instead!Originally posted by vijeth v View PostYou can get genuine Motul oils in Autoservice(Monotype,Banashankri 2nd stage).

Try to avoid the potholes and ditches; and even if you do need to go through one, ride over it gently to avoid overloading the shocks and the frame.
Good to know that your lubing the chain frequently enough. Dust and dirt reduce the lubrication on the chain pretty quickly! Make sure you clean the chain before re-lubing it; that will take care of your sprockets and prevent early wearout!
Since youve already completed 4K on the mineral oil, you can switch over to Motul FS. It will significantly improve the engine smoothness as well as gear shifts!! I carry out filter cleaning more frequently (Once every 1K kms) ... it can be done easily at home... just need a bit of kerosene, thats all! With our pathetic and dusty road conditions, its inevitable that the filter is going to get clogged sooner than later!! A clogged filter will definitely affect the clean burn of the fuel mix and affect the pick up and acceleration...
Ride safe!! cheers....

Smoke coming out my N250
Hi All,
I need some info - I took my Ninja 250 for a ride and it started pouring a lot. The roads were all filled with water and there were water puddles everywhere over which I had to ride.
Suddenly there was smoke coming out of the front area from within the consoles of the handles. I looked at the heat indicator and it was almost at Cool since i was riding at good speeds constantly.
But the smoke coming out was quite visible and i was a bit concerned so i decided to stop somewhere. For some reason i stopped at the petrol pump and switched off the bike. One of the mechanics there approached me and told me that with the water going inside there must have been a wire which would be uncovered and would have sparked off. He touched the wires and said none of them are hot so you can carry on. I waited for sometime and left. There still some smoke coming for the next 10 mins but lot lesser. The smoke then stopped and i continued riding smoothly to home.
Guys, what could be the reason for this? Do I need to be concerned?

As per my exp. the smoke was coming because of evaporation..The engine was hot and water was spiling on it was evaporating..it a common phenomena..Originally posted by narang_rulz View PostHi All,
