Even I came across that thread when I was trouble shooting my problem yesterday. But then , I came across a post which says that this was a problem prevalent in the pregen Ninjas and it's been corrected in the newer ones.
However il inspect the air filters once for good measure.

Today while giving my ninja a wash I noticed the rim of the front alloy was slightly bent. I don't remember the bike going into any major pit or gap ib the road to warrant such damage but now I will need to get it fixed.

I need advice on the following:
1. Is it recommended to get the alloy repaired.

2. How much would a new front alloy cost?

The front alloy was around 16k a year and a half ago. Not sure of the prices now.

First of all i would suggest don't run any oil more than 3000 Kms, the suggested oil drain period of 6k is good for conditions abroad not in India the road conditions and stop and go traffic in our country puts greater pressure on the engine.
Secondly check for engine sound and power if there is any change..
Then open the side fairing and look for oil leakage there are high chances of oil leaking from the head gasket, if there is leakage from the head gasket you might not notice much oil spill when parked anyways if there is leakage from the headgasket consider yourself lucky as the engine would be good.,

Nice point Deepak. Before my 2nd service which was at 3400Km (I ride it very less) I noticed oil leak from the gasket on the left side. I saw few drops on the floor when I moved the bike and noticed the fairing had stains of oil inside. After getting it checked, the gasket was replaced, but they changed the oil for free during the service.

pls help - i am getting the krrrrrrrrrr sound when i press the self start - does the ninja battery can be charged in the shops ? if yes pls let me know how to remove to the battery from the bike ? any links or videos pls post !

If it's too old, avoid recharging, just replace it. Get the battery according to specification and follow this video:

Hey guys - my first post in Xbhp!

I'll put in a short experience on the long term ownership - Kawasaki Ninja 250R

Make: 2010 (black tail, green seat):
Reading on Odometer: 49002 kms
Biggest ride on the bike: Leh-Ladakh 2013
Longest haul in a day - roughly 800 kms

Pros:
1) Highly reliable - never gone to the authorized workshop apart from the usual scheduled service
2) Durability - Yea, it's too good ! I know what it went through on the recent Ladakh ride (I did Zanskar too), yet no issues/tantrums thrown, even after the ride till date.
3) Parts have good life - In these 49002 kms, the only things I have changed are the usual disc pads, engine oil, oil filter, etc. Yes, that does mean my sprocket in still running on stock. It's cleaned and lubed every 500kms sometimes earlier too.

Cons:
there's hardly anything I can find in the bike to be mentioned in this section, apart from one thing - expensive spares.

Parts due for replacements in the near future:
1) Chain Sprocket set - it's on the last setting, due for replacement in the next 3-4k kms. Price inquiries here ended up with me sourcing it from the States. (one of my friend is flying down, Yippie!)
2) Steering cone set - it has started to lose the sweet spot quite often now, needs adjusting after every short (200-300kms) ride.

I am running on MRF Revz - FC, basically the setup from the Duke. These work wonders in terms of grip with the added weight of the Ninja. Lasts around 12-15k kms depending upon the riding style !

@On for the tires. i am planning to use the MRF for the front, as for the rear tire i am presently running on pirelli. The rating for the stock recommended tires is H which translates to a max speed load of 210km\hr, but that for MRF is S (which is 180km\hr). Any comments on the same?

180kmph is more than enough for the Ninja 250r in Indian conditions, how often do we keep the throttle holding while the needle is stuck at 180kmph ?
My General cruising speeds are between 100-120kmph with the occasional burst to 140-150kmph. I, once did cross 165kmph, but no issues with the tyres at all.

Cornering and braking grip is beautiful !

ok... thanks for the update....

I am more of a lover for the straight roads and whenever find some good stretch , i wring the throttle to full. I happens quite a few times(more than few...) that the cross the 165 mark, I have only done 180km\hr once earlier and if given a stretch might do it again. though i know that these speeds cannot be holded up for long.

So i was a bit thoughtful about the same.
