Guys, look what has happened with my bike. What should i do now?

The bike skidded close to 100meters before i managed to bring the bike to a halt. I was at a speed of 40-50km/hr, had i been even 20-30km/hr faster i wouldn't be wrting this post.

Man you are one lucky guy that did not happen at high speeds. How the heck did that chain jump out? Only reason that I can think of is that the chain was running slack and you have a bad sprocket.

The best thing to do now (and the only solution according to me) is to replace the whole chain and sprocket set.

Omg!!!! Thank God nothing happened to you... I guess you were running with super (ultra) loose chain. And for some reason you were maintaining 40-50kmph in that kind of road, which saved you from a terrible crash...

You are a lucky man chicane.
Your tyre has nearly shaved off. Hope your swing arm is not damaged.

Get her to SVC as soon as possible.

              Thanks for the concern, guys.

Well the front sprocket had worn out as it was skipping under acceleration. I knew about it so that was the reason i was riding slow but i never expected that the chain would come off in this manner. There has to be some safety feature so as to avoid this. I have seen many smaller bikes riding with worn out chain sprockets without any hassles. I know first thing i had to was to change it but due to lack of spares at the PBK i had to ride it down to Packers & Movers warehouse(as i am shifting to Mumbai) and on the way only it happened. I feel lucky that it didnt happened in the busy streets of Mumbai or on the highway close to Packers & Movers(which has a high speed traffic).

The way it stopped, my heart beat skipped a bit as i didnt really know what was going down as the bike felt like on roller skates deviod of any control until i pressed the front brakes to stop the bike. I wonder why the bike didnt stop and it went on skidding for such a long distance and that too from 50km/hr!! :O

The difference between smaller bikes and this one is the power out put, hence such things become extremely dangerous and life threatening if not taken care of at the proper time (though I would not recommend nor take a chance with any bike run such condition irrespective of its capacity). The complete power output of the bike is handled by this very important link i.e. the primary sprocket, chain and secondary sprocket.

Think about it, the total contact area between each chain roller and each sprocket teeth is not more than a handful of square millimetres. All the power of your bike is applied to that handful of square millimetres for thousands of kilometres. Imagine the stress and load that is applied on to these parts. The only safety feature to avoid this is timely maintenance.

                    • Ninja Sprocket Upgrade

got Upgrade on Nija 250, its Sprockets, makes a difference on Motorcycle running.

Change first to be done in front sprocket 1 down or One up to see difference. Change in overall throttle response, recommend to start with one down i.e: 14 is OE then go down to 13 T. especially for small capacity motorcycle. 150, 250, 390 500 also for 600 and 650 also.

Rear change wont have much change in overall package. if so go with +4 Teeth needs a Chain replacement which is a lengthy work out.

anyways i have done both from front to back on Ninja 250. OE was 14T in front and 43 on rear to 13T in front and 47T on rear

First with OE spec: Top speed( 160km>)

Vehicle runs good smooth with no bottom end pull only on 7k+ Rpm it feels to run better that is a lot of work out and timing on road. Do not try quick run or launch repeatedly as it will drain the rider on energy.

Range is at 22kmpl ( high speed of 100 -120) to 26KMPL ( keep it at 100 km or less)

                      * Rear tyre is 140/70/R17 Pirelli sport demon: good tyre but not soft enough unlike MRF REV Z FC Radial(150/60/ R17)

Second with 1 down in Front sprocket(14T to 13T front only): Top speed (150 Km)

This brings life to throttle response. around 6k RPM bike is quick (i am under exaggerating) and does a consistent milage of 27KMPL . Most OE bike of ninja will find it a bit annoying to keep up on the throttle even if they have light exhaust to give more out put. they will have to work to keep up especially from breaking to regain speed.

But in no way better than a CBR 250 as that has a lot of torque at mid range not so easy to overtake at 4k Rpm to -7k Rpm they do hold ground very well. once on straight way woosh Ninja will out class by a Km easily...

Same OE chain is used so no hassle. but to remove front sprocket is tricky or a lot off sweat. The center nut requires a lot of WD 40 sprayed and pneumatic tool or gun to remove and after that a lot of few hits on sprocket to come off output shaft. took about 2 hours to remove and refit the 13 T as OE 14T was on shaft as though that was its life ..

Third with same 1 down in front and 4 up in rear(13 T front and 47 rear) . Top Speed ( 135km)

For this main requirement is a new chain as OE chain is 106link chain to increase by 2 links to 108link chain. To Install it require 5 members or people to hold the motorcycle for about 15 min felt like 2 hours of holding as punishment. remove the swing arm pivot bolt , remove one nut and bolt from swing arm to suspension "phew thinking is a work out" and removing chain and re installing new chain.

then installed new sprocket which is really light about 320gm. from OE 43 at 600gm. KTm is a Lot more heavy for their 42T.

this brings a fighting chance to keep up with CBR o short straight's . Rowdy Pulsars and KTM 200 needs to be on top of their game to play tag with this 'Road Runner' Kwaaaaker is now can reach top RPM as its nothing.

but i am having second thought to change front Sprocket to 14T to regain top speed ....

if any one has done similar to this can you let me know your experience.

currently i am also doing a similar work to CBR 250 will post its pic very soon....

So just wanted to ensure will the whole set of plastics come within 40K?
