  • warranty Extension...

    Hi all,

Has anyone done extension of the warranty beyond 3 years?? I enquired this with ASC but they told that the FI bikes (ZMR and Glamour FI) comes with 3 years warranty only. No extension like normal bike till 5 years...

I am bit upset with this?? Any idea anybody??

    Regards,
    Antan Banerjee.

Wrong information provided by SVC, when i took delivery of my bike at that time only i took 5 years warranty (3 years + 2 year extended) , even satyajit also has extended warranty.
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

Hey....Nopes that is not recommended at all...!!!
Yes i know the SS is available in 1 litre can...so take two cans(Same company and same grade) and put 1.2 litres fresh new SS oil into the engine....!! you can preserve the other 800ml left..and use it for next oil change !!!!But never mix oils like that...!!!

Didn't get you bro... 1 year old oil? You didn't change oil for a year?
Moreover, when moving from mineral to SS or FS for that matter, you should drain ALL the oil in that box. It's a 1.4L unit.
I remember draining around 1340 ml mineral oil (measured in a beaker) when I moved to SS from mineral.

1st time, 1.4L, next time onward it should ideally be 1.1L, but the bike doesn't complain if you pour just a bottle oil in it. I, always fill in 1100 ml and use the remaining in the next oil change.
                  Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Divya ..by that he means that he has unused mineral oil that has been stored in a can for more than a year now.....:-)
And i always pour in 1.2 litres of oil...as i use Castrol Activ which again comes in a 1 litre can....So 1.2 litres makes easy calculations..:-)

why you pour 1.2l when required quantity is 1.1l. more oil than required can screw your gaskets

                      • You need only 1100 ml of engine oil and if you ride with 1000 ml (1 ltr) wont make any difference though, i have ridden with 1 ltr for most of rides. but ensure the level should not go below.
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

                            Hi All,

Thanks for the quick feedback... But to my most bad luck I have just completed 1 yr on 24th of this month... How can I get the extension??? Is it possible to avail it from another Service center other than where I bought my BEAST....??

Regarding Satyajit da, I am not sure whether he has 5 years of warranty, as he was saying his warranty will end in next few months when he reaches bike's third year..

                            Please suggest some way out..

                            Regards..

Get your last free service done with the HH mineral oil and shift to Shell AX7 only after that.

I have been changing the oil myself for sometime now and my observations are:-

HH mineral 10w30 - 1000 kms in city, 1500 kms on highways max. Great pickup, observed maximum mileage on the highways with this oil, 50 kmpl and 44 in city.

Castrol 20w50 SS - Not at all good for ZMR. A very heavy oil. Vibrations minimized, but mileage dropped to 36 kmpl on highways, took 10 sec to 60 etc etc. Changed within 600 kms of use.

Shell AX7 SS 10w40 - VFM. Very VFM. Lasted me around 2.5k. During oil change, it was brown in color. Seemed to have gone bad. Was expecting around 3k kms. Mileage around 46 kmpl on highways and 41 in city.

Mobil1 10w40 FS - Best for ZMR. Gives a balance between mileage and performance. The last oil change lasted me 4203 km exact. Still, the old oil was less brownish when compared to Shell AX7 during change. Decent pickup, oil doesn't lose viscosity in B2B traffic. Smooth gearshifts till 3.5k, after which they start getting harder. Mileage on highways ~47 kmpl and 41 kmpl in city.
Guys am currently using Agip and i find my ride is smooth.. But now since owners tell Mobil is excellent for ZMR and since it has lasted for about 4K+kms in divya's ZMR am planning to change my oil brand.. My mech usually changes it when i leave the bike to service.. However from now on i'll change it myself. So what are the different types available in this brand.. Synthetic, semi, mineral etc.. Totally new to this oil thingy so please bear with me!! Which oil in Mobil is better in terms of performance regarding acceleration? Cause i read somewhere that type of oil matters a lot in performance of a bike and am interested in acceleration.. And what would be the cost of it? And how much quantity oil should i drain/replace?
                                ZMR- PGMFI re-defined
