Optimize the design. A few tweaks here and there. And HMC, please give us a practical fairing this time (ala R15 - its a modular fairing made of multiple parts rather than our big 2 piece fairing).

A chassis redesign again would give them excuses to raise the prices. Its a diamond frame IIRC. They can however bring an underbody exhaust. Here go 6 kgs straight away!
Underbody exhaust? I like this stock look bro. A big muscular silencer together with the rear disc look really nice. A puny underbelly silencer would take out all the 'manly characteristics' of a kariZma but I have a feeling that the upcoming model would be named something different rather dan kariZma. Let em change the name but still upgrade the karizma series by adding few more features to existing zmr like how you said. Meaning two bikes. One would be the ebr (man dat sounds close to a cbr, shit!) and another would be just an upgrade to the karizmas.

But one thing is sure. The hulk is wakin up. Give way!!
I luv those curves of ebr track bike. Rim mounted discs? Superb innovation..

The new bike is definitely not going to be named Karizma.. They will name it with the CC.. like the CBR 250/ Ninja 250/ Pulsar 220 etc..

now.. the ZMR definitely looks good with the huge exhaust.. but if you want performance.. we will have to lose out some weight.. hence they will know the tactics..

Only if ZMR had been more than 20bhp
      Splendor - 2k to 2006
      Karizma - 2k3 to 2009

      ZMR - 2010 to Forever

Avoid the ZMA cage. Doesn't fit well in ZMR. Needs pushing in + replacing a few stuff here and there. Search for P200NS wala battery --> 8AH of similar dimensions as ours.

An underbelly exhaust means more mass centralization. Of course, they should redesign the rear to look more proportionate.
        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

True, it's just the way the bikes look. Bhp is a separate thing and I am more than happy when it comes to the performance of ZMR. It's not a Harley or a Hayabusa, but it definetly is a well-rounded package that is optimum for city roads and the highways in India. Of course, the more we get, the more we expect!!

engine to be tuned a bit more to meet the 110mm segment tires..
To keep it short n sweet; Hero has to really do something heroic to stay the Hero of Indian bike market. It already has the advantage of a good brand value in its side & it just needs to bring someone spectacular out of its hat.

A 250 CC bike would still make a lot of business; provided:

            1. The engine is really really refined (in true sense) so that it is a pleasure to ride the bike at higher speeds. Pls dont give me a ZMR-sique engine in a new cover. There has to be a WOW factor about the engine specifically.
            2. The engine produces ample torque n power. It must be an outright performer. It must produce more power/torque than the others already existing in this segment.
            3. Low end torque must be on a higher side.
            4. Avg mileage must be atleast 35kmpl, if not more. Lets not forget most in our domestic market are still n actually commuters in mind. Hero anyways knows this.
            5. The new chachis should be stylish, but still should be built in such a way that it provides adequate pillion comfort. This is a must in India to ensure higher sales.
            6. Riding position should not be too aggressive. It simply does not suit our roads & heavy traffic. A a ZMR-sique/Ninza 650-sique riding position is better.
            7. It may not kill with looks, but Looks matter !! So the fairing must carry a new look. Weight distribution should look proportional.
            8. Braking may not be world class, but must inspire confidence.
            9. Rear tyre should suit the bike design.
            10. HMC may consider at attractive headlight design. Fancy stuff have their own psychological value.
            11. HMC may choose to have 2 variants. The top variant may come with ABS, Liquid cooling etc & may cost more. But the lower variant MUST NOT cross 1.5 lacs rupees ON ROAD.

A 250 cc bike is still a win-win case for an average Indian biker. Therefore it will definitely do a very good business.

Additionally with technological evolution, "there is no replacement for displacement" is now a dated statement. Therefore the question is, can HMC present us an outright performer with a 250 cc engine ?? Can it bring us something which can give the upcoming Yamaha 250 cc a run for its money, even if it may not score above it ?? I would strongly assume that a 30 HP/25 NM HMC 250 cc mill @ 150K INR would give a 35 HP/30 NM Yamaha 250 cc mill @ 200K INR a good run for money in Indian market.

            My Bikes:
Yamaha RD (The one which taught me what riding is; Can never forget this one)
Bajaj Caliber (The one closest to my heart; I still have it after 15 yrs !)
Yamaha R15 V2.0 (The best I had; Ah it let me become the college hunk I once used to be :) )

Sounds good to hear all this.. but practically, i don't think this will happen.. we have no idea what is going on in their minds.. lets hope they read our minds and bring something upto our taste.. it shouldn't affect the riding position like you said as we in India have many people who love to tour on bikes..

If all you said comes with this package.. then no doubt Hero will rule the segment.. but then again.. we have a Pulsar launching 375cc with nearly 40bhp of raw power.. which is gonna cost somewhere near the Duke 390.. won't people go ahead with it instead of going for a 250cc?

of course people like me who can't afford to get 20000/- extra will not even think of extending their budget.. so sadly we will have to settle down with what is best in that range.. so I am hoping HMC's new bike is going to be VFM

Second, our market is growing; so higher mills like 375 cc or more would ofciurse sell.. but there are many customer segments in the market... like technology & products are under continuous evolution, customer migration is also continuous. Like some of us want to buy a higher capacity mill than what we have now, many others with relatively lower capacity mills would also want the same thing. The change is bottoms up. So enough people would be there to buy it.

Third, not many in our market would want to shell out 50K/40k more to buy something better. Some may, but many won't, atleast not immediately. It would happen progressively as our buying power increases.

Going by some reports the new suzuki 250 cc mill might be positioned under 1.15 lacs INR. Yeah its a naked bike, but still it's a 250 cc mill. Competition is too high, so pricing would be the key.

+1 to all your replies above.. how could I forget about the thought of the people who are owing smaller cc bikes.. they would love the 250cc like those people who are not asking for suggestions on bikes and we suggest them according to their needs and use
