Any update on ur bike dada? I got the chain slack readjusted and front sprocket cleaned. Bike's normal now.Originally posted by Bibhudatta View PostBy any chance you are getting a clutch slippage Divya ? Bcoz that would result in high engine revving..
IMO, HMC can't modify ZMR as its Honda tech. A new bike, a new name will come. (no longer a Karizma.Originally posted by RaajD View PostIt would be a dream come true if HERO allows for upgrade for ZMR with EBR mods such as swing arm, fatter rear tyre, similar capacity tank albeit shorter to improve the riding position further, and a few tucks here and there.
I do seriously hope Mr. Munjal takes a note of this wish-list, and at the same time accommodate these modifications in the standard warranty.

Something's slated for Diwali this year.Originally posted by veryhiphop View PostI too assume the same that no new bikes from HM this year.....
The bike that will first come from HM in new partnership will be 250cc...this is almost confirmed news....

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Dear friends, I'm facing a strange problem with my ZMR (3800 kms run, within waranty). While accelerating specially in 3rd / 4th, a knocking type sound (tak tak) comes from engine. The sound is more with pillion. It is also more prominent when engine is hot. At steady speeds, the engine sound is normal at all speeds. During service, initially the mechanic didn't acknowledge the problem, but after demonstrating properly, he said it is knocking (another one said it is piston slapping, which i doubt as slapping should appear at all speeds!). Hero service engine offered to replace piston, rings, cylinder block (+ valves, if required) within warranty. BTW, I'm using Castrol P1R for past 1000 kms. I need advice on what to do. rreneav1987, abhi7013 what is your opinion (perhaps u also had similar problem)?

Tappets, bad petrol are usual suspects. Get them corrected first. Piston rings later.Originally posted by Ygarg View PostDear friends, I'm facing a strange problem with my ZMR (3800 kms run, within waranty). Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Tak Tak sound can be heard due to many reasons.. due to engine strain when it is heated up.. it can be the tappet.. but tappet noise can be heard at all speeds.. even during idling..Originally posted by Ygarg View PostDear friends, I'm facing a strange problem with my ZMR (3800 kms run, within waranty). Even the Oil can make a difference.. which grade is that Castrol P1R?? recommended is 10W30 and we can max go upto 15W40 and anything beyond that will bring up the tak tak sound when the engine is hot (engine will strain)
try changing the engine oil.. use the Mineral oil from Hero Motocorp and see if you find any difference..
unless we hear the sound of the bike.. it cannot be easily determined.. psr sir can give you better ideas..Splendor - 2k to 2006

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
The sound was there for me when the engine was hot. Specially in traffic, on getting an empty stretch, while accelerating, the sound used to come. That is engine stress. The problem was solved when i used the Rimula. I still have not taken the bike to longer rides but definitely the problem which arised due to heat in traffic and all is vanished. I guess it's your oil. Change it. Still if problem persists and there is no solution, only then go for the replacement of parts.Originally posted by Ygarg View PostI tried normal as well as hi-octane fuel, from different pumps.ZMR- PGMFI re-defined

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Poor oil performance esp the 10w30 causes engine to heat up leading to accelerated parts wear...further the main anti wear compound ZDDP is now all but removed from engine oil ,agravating the problem.....using oils recommended for Diesel engines have proved fruitful due to the high levels of ZDDP in them....When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
I'd be bleeding my wallet on the bike in the coming 3-4 months/4-5k kms as a lot of parts would be changed.
(Currently at 30k + kms)
1. Front tire - stock MRF - would put back the same tire.
2. Rear tire - PSD used now - not sure if it'd be available at "sane" prices. Using this for 14k kms already. No punctures so far!!!
Can do 3-4k kms more I guess.
3. Sprocket - 5k kms at max.
4. Usual stuff - AF in 4k kms, spark plug after 3-4k kms.
5. Front brake pads - done 8k on them already. Would last 2-3k kms more.
6. Rear brake pads - still stock. I can see them lasting till 35k on the odo.
All in all, I see 10k rupees going in the bike in the near future.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 06-30-2013, 02:38 PM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
@ Divya sharan, the list is small and less expensive......imagine the cost of service with Hyosung GT 650...Engine oil is 3 liters, and changing with Motul 300 V would cost you close to 3 K for every oil change....or N250 whose side turn indicators are 1,700 each + labour...or it's chain and sprocket.....compared to many of the bikes ,we have a bike which gives Economical operation with superb ride comfort.....
Good Luck with your parts change...buy spares from ASC to get genuine spares...Last edited by psr; 06-30-2013, 11:52 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Divyasaran- Man this is a small price to pay for all the trouble free performance. As psr sir said any hero bike has a comparatively lesser maintenance than other companies.Even i am toying with the idea of buying a zmr but my heart is not ready to sell the extreme. As i have posted before my friend bought the ZMR in which i was instrumental for the decision. Karizma is one bike which has ride comfort, smoothness and enough top end for indian highways all molded into one.
Even my extreme recently went into a major service with battery change, timing chain tensioner change and a starer relay change. But i do not complain because i know it will never be as maintenance free as my Joy as my Joy has not been serviced(not even oil changed or air filter cleaned) for 4 months and it just runs smooth and sound is still like new bike.
To sum it up:-
The difference between my Joy and extreme is that one is traditional indian wife that will never complain and adjust to your condition and other is like modern girlfriends which are more demanding and start throwing tantrums at slight pretext.
For chain sprocket i will advice to go for Diamond than OE, as it will last longer and chain will have very less wear comapred to OE.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time.
