does the bar nearer to 2000rpm blink at a periodic interval when the ignition is on ?! or is it occuring ly in mine !

He means to ask if the last bar out of all the bars which indicate the rpm, blinks periodically when the bike is idling.

Answer is no. They have to be ideally constant. But since practically its impossible, the last bar blinks indicating minor changes in rpm which is not at all an issue. Unless two or more bars vary.

I had a thought thats what he meant.. but couldn't understand it properly thinking he is asking about something else

anyways.. it is not an issue as the RPM varies.. even a minute change in RPM can cause it to blink reason, the Revolution of the machine is not always constant..

if you are able to keep the RPM constant by holding the acceleration at a particular RPM then you will notice it doesn't blink...

Pretty common! Nothing to worry here bro. Happens with all our bikes.
(At idling it does show a bar extra at constant intervals)

I realised this but only the hard way.... I love my bro. Cause that's what I call my bike

Hello The Monk ,thanks buddy for your suggestion as soon as i read this i have gone to the store and fixed a PSD 110/90 18 56 h .....and to check it i have gone for a long ride with my friend ....i have touched 120 but was feared to go beyond that because as you said i felt some disbalance or something which stopped me and i really want to know what is that ? let me describe how i felt ----its like something like a disbalance among the front and rear tyres sometimes feels like the rear tyre is little up and that causes the front to loosen up in air and feels like the front tyre is in little air that causes shakes in my handle which in turn effects the handling...is this what you are talking about ?

              ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Hello worrisomebear ,thanks for your suggestion buddy ..i never knew that it would be that way ..if i have known that i would never have repaired the tyre anyways i have changed the tyre to PSD .....any more suggestions to make the Karizma ZMR more awesome

Hi, from the past few days, I am facing some heavy vibrations from the silencer part. Some change in exhaust note too at higher revs. I suspect something is inside the silencer as I noticed some melted plastic like thing near the hole of the exhaust. The service center guys also says it is from inside the silencer only. How to check?

Are you referring to the catalytic converter? Because a kaput cat con means a dent of 8-9k on the pocket.

I am not sure about a mesh is called a catalytic convertor nor i inquired about much at SVC in this regard; when they notice the sound from silencer

A catalytic converter is a vehicle emissions control device which converts toxic byproducts of combustion in the exhaust of an internal combustion engine to less toxic substances by way of catalysed chemical reactions. The specific reactions vary with the type of catalyst installed. Most present-day vehicles that run on gasoline are fitted with a “three way” converter, so named because it converts the three main pollutants in automobile exhaust: carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbon and oxides of nitrogen. The first two undergo catalytic combustion and the last is reduced back to nitrogen.

                          Battle is half won!!

Regarding the piston slap issue—after finding no response from Hero, today I sent a direct email to the company. Guess what, I got a call from the corporate office promising me that the issue will be resolved at all cost and I do not need to worry. I'll take my bike to the ASC this evening and take it back only when they resolve the issue or replace the unit.

I told them that I had a word with Dilip Bam (one of the best auto reviewers in India) and that he too insisted on the need for a higher grade engine oil for the ZMR. BTW, they are pretty much aware of our ZMR community here!! He affirmed that my suggestion has been noted and it will be taken up by their team—to revise the grade of the engine oil.

Here's the mail that I sent:

                          Dear Sir,

I had complained through the feedback form at the HMC website, but it seems nobody wants to address because of the impending new launches. However, I do hope you address my grievance or direct it to the concerned.

I had purchased a Karizma ZMR on 04 May 2013 from Vinline Engineering, Kolkata. The bike has manufacturing defects more than I can imagine. Neither is the service centre interested in resolving nor is it forwarding any request for a replacement.
                          1. There was a leakage in the rear left GRS from day 1 and when I complained to the dealer and ASC at Vinline Engineering, I was treated as if nothing has happened. I kept requesting them almost a month, all they did was make promises and so on. Once, I was made to wait for more than 1.5 hours at the ASC when my bike was taken in for the left GRS replacement, only to be told that HERO has shipped a Splendor’s shocker instead of the ZMR’s. I again ordered the part and almost 2 weeks rolled by and nothing was done. At all instances I was told that the part would arrive in the next lot. Finally, I sent a complaint through the website and voila, the very next day the part arrived as intimated by the works manager. He even requested me to take back the complaint!
                          2. This issue is, however, grave. There’s piston knocking (technically, piston slapping) right from day 1 and I have repeatedly told the ASC manager about it. Every time, I was told that this would get resolved on its own. Rather, the problem has multiplied. In the meantime, the day my ZMR was to be registered – while I was returning from the Motor Vehicles at Barrackpore, the piston slapping got so severe that I had to stop by at Raja Hero to get the first service done and also to rectify the issue. The mechanic could do noting other that changing the engine oil. He seemed too fatigued to remove the non-functional almighty fairing of the ZMR!
                          3. Now, the question is why I am made to suffer because of a manufacturing defect that even the ASC mechanics are not able to rectify? The 950 kms that I rode on my ZMR with the piston slapping is sure to have done irreparable damage to the rings, cylinder, valves, engine bearings, and fly wheels…..if anything more of the engine is left!

About a week ago, I had sent a complaint to HMC though the website, but I haven’t received any response so far. Is it because of the new upcoming bikes that the owners of the old ones are ignored, though ZMR is still the flagship model?

Sir, it is my humble request to kindly address my grievance at the earliest, before the damage completely knocks off the engine and I get my warranty denied citing all technical mumbo-jumbos.

                          Regards,

                              Regards,
                              Raaj Datta
Good that HM responded....and hope the issues resolved soon...

I once met a service engineer doing inspection in Chennai SVC and I'd suggested him to make 10w40 as standard oil. He said enthusiastically that my recommendation would be looked into, but nothing happened.
