anyways coming back to your issue, i may suggest you do the following to trace the issue:
1. Ofcourse check any issue with FI system first. Drain every bit of fuel from your bike & refill some new petrol. Just to ensure no more water thing..
2. Get your fuel pump checked..
3. Get all the electrical connections to your fuel pump checked. One faulty connection can cause these issues too.
4. Check your oil filter & ensure it is not clogged with something..
5. Check your spark plug. Ensure it is generating consistent sparks.
6. Check your valve clearance. While too much of clearance can cause tappet sound, literally no clearance would cause severe power loss.
7. Well if you still land up at this step, then you got to open your engine & you need to check your crank shaft, cam shaft & rocker arm.

Oh yes, i forgot to add; check & ensure that there is no air leakage (related to FI issue)
I'll get it done this week. I am overwhelmed how everyone here is trying to help me out. Thanks a ton.

I was about to do it and I came across your reply. Better this way I guess. Yes, I took my ZMR to two ASCs and they seemed like quackanics.

psr sir and all respected members, I have a query. Ever since I have removed the snorkel for that K&N-ish sound, I have noticed that the bike upshifts without knocking at less than 3k RPM. I know its not healthy, but it happens once in a while. One such incident was today while coming to office. I was overtaking a bus when I saw a speed breaker ahead, I slowed down from 65 odd in 5th to 35ish speeds in 3rd. Then I upshifted at 45ish to 4th and unwittingly performed another shift immediately. I didn't notice any lag in power, knocking was not noticed. Then, I wanted to experiment. I went to my office's top floor parking lot. It has a ~100 m straight and had only one BMW 520d parked. I upshifted to 3rd and 4th at less than 2.5k RPM and the bike didn't hesitate. Didn't have the space to try 5th.

After the experiment I came down to ground floor and parked my bike. Loved its sound even more while coming down the sealed/closed spiral pathway from 9th floor to ground floor.

My question is, "IS THE TORQUE CURVE ALTERED?". If yes, then how much more air is the bike breathing in (as in %age)?

I have finally filed a complaint through HMC's website to either resolve the issue or replace the unit. Time to pray now.

Next Mail should be saying that you are going to file a case with consumer court.. and put someone in CC saying that he is an advocate or something.. I mean once you get a mail from a Hero Showroom or ASC.. Thats what I did and I got the owner of the Showroom to personally check my during the servicing and I was treated like a VIP all the best and don't worry the issue will be fixed in no time..

Hope all of you remember that I used a ZEN MPFi filter in my ZMA due to non availability of the stock Ar Filter....when I got hold of the stock one, and fixed it, I found the bike became lazy and less responsive.....so switched back to the old Zen filter...even after 8 K Kms and becoming dark, the filter gives me better results..
My guess is that the OE paper filter may be restrictive, and removing snorkel is allowing engine to breath better, since instantaneously more Air is made available without restriction....another member had tried the Zen MPFi filter and reported feeling the engine breathing better with improved acceleration....
So guess removing the snorkel is allowing the engine to breathe better, and hence produce better power....
In my ZMA I can come down to 30 Kmph in top gear and accelerate normally to higher speeds without knocking...

Moreover doesn't it have any negative effect to the bike by removing the part? May be I am wrong as I m ignorant of such things.. But I would like to know how many have done this and is till using it? I would like have a detail feedback from the senior members like PSR, etc...

AFAIK, its only me who is using the snorkel-less setup. A snorkel keeps sound in check as well as protects the AF from dust and water. In theory, my AF would get dirty sooner and I need to be more careful in rains.
And most importantly, I guess my bike won't pass PUC check.

I always had a doubt on that thing.. wondering what it is.. since it is connected to the air inlet. thought it to be some sort of collector.. maybe excess dust.. not sure though..

I got PUC done before removing the snorkel. Its simple plug and play, so I can put it back when needed. I'll try taking a video soon.

let me be the second one in the ZMR family to make this mod; but with the hope that the acceleration would be increased, even if by 1%.. else am coming for you Divya
