Many people here said stock tires of ZMR are not good and tend to skit on rainy days.. I guess I got well adapted to the TVS tires of APACHE RTR that I feel these are great :Psigpic

I never found the zmr tires to be bad.. now even the michelin sirac street seems to be doing well in wet roads after i reduced the psi to 32 from 35.. but will go for psd soon..Originally posted by Raja Saiyan View PostMany people here said stock tires of ZMR are not good and tend to skit on rainy days.. That's cheap! Anyway do you have any idea about the ideal pressure for a 110 sized tyre? Is it same as stock?Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostI never found the zmr tires to be bad.. now even the michelin sirac street seems to be doing well in wet roads after i reduced the psi to 32 from 35.. but will go for psd soon..

Yes.. maintain the same pressure as in stock. I fill up only 32 in rear as the tire skids during wet conditions..Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostThat's cheap! Anyway do you have any idea about the ideal pressure for a 110 sized tyre? Is it same as stock?

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
no way.. if 32 is for 100 there would be a 10% increased space both inside and outside the tire in 110 so if you fill 32 for 100, then you will have to keep the pressure 32+3.2 = 35 or 36~ [ or 38 if ya don't care about extra traction ]Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostThat's cheap! Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
When i say keep the pressure as in stock.. i actually meant 35.. thats the normal pressure people pump.. atleast thats what i do.. i have reduced to 32.. reasom being to prevent skidding on wet roads and it works fine though not perfect..Originally posted by Raja Saiyan View Postno way.. if 32 is for 100 there would be a 10% increased space both inside and outside the tire in 110 so if you fill 32 for 100, then you will have to keep the pressure 32+3.2 = 35 or 36~ [ or 38 if ya don't care about extra traction ]

While many bikers claim to have used diesel oils without any issues, many advanced mechanics on the other hand advice against that.. So it is bit of a gamble, or may be a calculated risk.. One should take it if he is ready; & if taken, then no point being a cry baby...
Personally i am not too convinced on using many oils with those so called motor biking certifications.. you pay a damn premium for them, but you still feel like changing the oil even before leaving the parking lot... that is the precise reason i wanted to try Rimula R4 & am still running on it.. Would change the oil only when i find another one worth the money..
Just to add to the context.. Kind of an update for people who might still be wondering...Originally posted by psr View PostIf the oil composition due to changing Euro norms had not taken place, I would not have looked for an alternate to JASO MA grade...It is well known fact that the ZDDP and Calcium are good for the engine in reducing wear and esp ., in Engines with higher stress , and Loading on parts like in a Air Cooled Motorcycle engine....The Diesel and Air cooled engines both have almost same kind of operational environment, and require good protective additives, which were being removed systematically by norms to protect the Catcon....forgetting the fact that the engine and it's moving parts need these additives for it's very working.....Hence the hunt for an oil with these additives landed me with Diesel oils...I did read up on it's use in other countries for more than 6 years without negative results....and saw many pictures of Engine insides with least wear at high ODO readings....this made me experiment and I did get good results...Still I made it a point to warn would be users of unknown problems yet to surface.....
Good to know that you are running on R4 and have acceptable results......
The Journey and search continues..
My oil change was due & I still have 4 ltrs of Rimula R4 left at home.. But still thought of experimenting with some other 10W40 authentic petrol engine oil, just for a peace of mind.. So went ahead & replaced the existing R4 with Shell Ax7 10W40 SS.. Rode for about 70 KM post oil change & here is the observation...
1. Acceleration is for sure better with a lighter oil like 10W40.. Absolutely no doubt on this part..
2. More importantly acceleration is perfectly linear.. both power generation & delivery. This is where I had felt some issue with R4, as if there was some power loss for 3-4 seconds before power delivery used to happen (when I used to revv hard).. Though minor but I always used to doubt a bit of clutch slippage with R4 at higher speeds..
3. Engine definitely feels more free with 10W40
4. However Vibration from engine is definitely more with a 10W40.. Particularly at higher revvs.. For all its wrongs, engine had considerably less vibrations with R4 for sure..
So now the choice is yours.. with either of the oils you get something & loose something.. Damn I had to spend close to 700 bucks for the experiment .. But am happy I did it
Now I would try n see if i can get a suitable 10W40 diesel oil for experiment.. !!Last edited by Bibhudatta; 07-15-2013, 01:04 AM.

And yes.. i know keeping extra pressure is advisable.. but for the michelin sirac street rear tire.. its not good on wet roads with high pressure.. hence this is the only alternate i had as i don want to soend extra money for now.. i am saving money for my next bike..
