  • Bike stutters on clutch release.

    Hi guys,
been long since I posted, done 45k. Changed the clutch plate and after that the bike seems to be behaving weird. Immediately post the change, the bike used to vibrate on clutch release in first gear. Post which I took it to the service station they said they fixed the issue and now post two weeks the issue has cropped up again but now occurs when I use the clutch a lot and in traffic the bike vibrates/ stutters on clutch release from first gear. Any help would be appreciated. Have a feeling something is wrong post the clutch plate change.

      Happy New Year to all!

ZMR update - Crossed 53K recently.

Found a car bumper repair shop near my home. He used to fix damaged car bumper with some heat guns and plastic parts. He Create/Repair new broken joints. Work done for my car was good. I asked for the bike body repair and he agreed to do it.

My ZMR body joints specially in rear is completely damaged. First get my all rear body parts repair and in second visit get front fairing open and found only right hand fairing joints are not in proper shape. Get fairing fixed and while fitting the body paste double sided tape wherever found to have rattling sound.

Result - Fairing life increase and all rattle sound gone in just 200 Rs.

Happy with that work and saved 10K as I was planing to have complete front/rear fairing changed in a insurance claim.

Did you just get the clutch plates changed or the entire assembly including pressure plates and clutch bell too?

Finally after more than an year of wait and repeated orders, I got Mirrors from Service centre itself. The right side is shaky when riding due to vibes. Need to put some rubber pieces and fix again 😊

          • ZMR - Side Mirror Bolt

            Hi All,

Those who are looking for Side Mirror Allen Bolts to get the loose mirror issue fixed can get those bolts. Hero Motors provide those parts and I get it from a SVC here in Delhi.

Refer to attached image for Part No.

I bought 4 each of main bolt and smaller bolt (holding the frame of mirror to body part)

Replaced the existing battery recently. So, this is my 2nd replacement in 6 years. Truck turned 6 on Jan 9th.
The bike was recently serviced prior to its birthday and except fairing vibes (due to accident few years back) and discoloration, there's no difference between the bike now and when it was younger.
About to complete 1000 km post the milestone.

Hello Guys.. hope you and your bikes doing great.
I had used Karizma zmr before when my neighbor had it. It was my favorite bike since then..
I was using Unicorn till Dec'16 and started to use zmr which my cousin had brought 2.5 yrs back. 19500kms done.
He used it decently and maintained well except a scratch on the hero sticker on the left fairing.

Now that i have started using it, i changed the engine oil. used motul 5100 Hybrid 10w30 oil. i had read that the bike needs 1.35 ltr. But the manual had suggested that 1.1 ltr on refills and 1.35 when the engine is opened. When i took it to the local mechanic shop, he asked me why did you buy 2 bottles of oil. I smiled and replied that it requires more than a liter of oil. then he started pouring the oil. When he started pouring the second bottle, i asked him check the dip stick marks and then fill it. he was filling and checking the dip stick and he stopped at one point and closed the dip stick and handed over the oil bottle wich had remaining 0.8 ltr of oil. Motul has a transparent scaling in the side of the bottle and its showing 800ml.

But later when i opened the dip stick i felt it has crossed more than the max mark line. may be 60-100 ml. Could this cause any problems such as oil pump failure , engine problem, gasket problem or pickup problem.
Just need to know should i drain the excess 90 ml oil.

Next suggestion what i wanted to know is, the bike is smooth above 70kmph. below its not that smooth but after using motul oil its bit smooth. i feel the roughness when i ride the bike after riding my Unicorn. And i feel when the engine is hot( i.e driven in super heavy bumper to bumper traffic for around 1 hour) pickup reduces a bit. Just wanted to know is it common.

Please do suggest me on both my concerns.

                Thanks a lot

Just got back from a ride to Odisha. The bike performed as expected. Except for body vibes, there is nothing to complain. Hope to do more such rides.

The bike gave me a mileage of approx. 40Kmpl across 1250 Kms under mixed road conditions. I'm using Motul 7100 as well as Iftex fuel additive.

The only nag was the visor rubbers which take the screws which hold the visor. I need to replace them. Can anyone suggest where I can get them? I asked at Essaay Auto's in Karol Bagh and they dont have it. Would appreciate if someone could give me the exact part number too. Thanks.

You can get the bedding rubbers which thread the screws in, from ASS or a hero parts dealer. It's called visor bedding bush, it should be easy.

Yes one should avoid overfilling. 1200 ml once wouldn't cause an issue though.

Next time, do not just blindly pour 1100 ml of oil. Fill in 1 liter first. Then let the oil settle for 2-3 min. Note the scale on the dipstick without screwing it in fully, just turn it a couple of times.

You may not need to pour any more oil. Not all oil gets drained you see.

Excess oil if in a small amount won't cause issues but if there's a lot of excess oil, then you'd start observing gasket leaks, air filter blow by (oil behind air filter), busted seals etc.

Coming to your 2nd query - ZMR is not as smooth as Unicorn. But your using a 10w30 oil in heavy traffic is one of the reasons for engine feeling rough. It's a thin oil and becomes watery under heavy load. You can use w40 grade oils to provide you with some smoothness under such conditions. ZMR uses the same unchanged engine from ZMA which originally had a 20w40 oil grade recommendation, so you can safely use that without any worries.

My bike hasn't seen a service center after 2011. I do most of the stuff at my trusted mech or by myself. I stay near new BEL road (Dollars Colony).
