First of all, welcome back to the forum! Don't do ban-worthy things again in the future.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Post
Thanks. Yes this has been a very very reliable machine, mechanically at least. Sensors being sensors are finicky. I even learnt that washing the bike just in any way may not always be good for the bike thanks to those shenanigans in the early days of ownership.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Post
Well I did say 4 years back that I shall step in the market after I hit a 100k on my Kari, so yes. Maybe by next year end.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostGot a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

It's log and life is penned down on the other BHP forum, as it would be OT here.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Guys, could someone help me figure out the problem here,
Its really cold and foggy up here in the north but nothing unusual.
This year, my zmr has started to reset the clock everytime it fails to start plus the "engine problem" sign comes too but disappears after a few seconds when the bike turns on.
The engine sign made some really small appearances before the starting of the winter but like I said it was rare(1-2 a week) and use to last a second or two.
I read that this might be due to the battery.... Could it ?
I have a battery charger, should I charge it.
And Divya bhai, congrats on the 5 zeros

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
It's either the battery or the RR unit. Batteries tend to drain faster in cold climates. Could you share your bike's odo reading and how many years it's been since you bought her?Originally posted by Harry99 View PostGuys, could someone help me figure out the problem here,

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Can be the battery. Just use a multimeter and measure the potential difference whenOriginally posted by Harry99 View PostI read that this might be due to the battery.... Could it ?

1. The bike is on (with the key) but not started.
And
2. The bike is on (with the key) and started.
Charging the battery might help in the short scheme of things but if it is not able to retain charge, you'll eventually have to replace it.
Thank you!Originally posted by Harry99 View PostAnd Divya bhai, congrats on the 5 zeros

I bought it from my tenant who didn't even put 1K km on it, it basically stayed parked. He bought it from a guy who probably sold it because he got into an accident, but I don't know for sure.
Well, I don't think I have a multimeter lying around the house. I have my board exams coming up, I'll probably drive it till Feb mid... If charging the battery will help till then...Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostCan be the battery. Just use a multimeter and measure the potential difference when

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
If you've been riding the bike regularly, I don't think the battery would conk off. However, the RR unit tends to rust, and rust translates to more resistance and loss of charge in the lines, which would result in an uncharged or partially charged battery. Just give your battery to the local battery shop for charging, and keep monitoring the vehicle for a day after that. If you still seem to be losing charge, open up the bike and check if the battery is boiling hot, if it is, then the culprit is the RR unit. IIRC, the Karizma's RR unit costs somewhere around 2.2k INR.Originally posted by Harry99 View Post17,947km on the odo, 2011 model.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
So I already posted that my Display (and all electricals) going off and Bike refusing to start after that, Battery wasn't the culprit but the fuse was, etc...
But after changing, the fuse gave up again. I took the spare from my other ZMR and used it, it again gave up.
So took it to Service today and found that two wires have scratched and these are making contact (somewhere in common and shorting but not among themselves). Tapped it and also checked battery voltage in Multimeter which was 12 point something.
When returning back from Service I wantedly made the bike off by slowly releasing clutch with brakes holded and once it was off, I pressed the ignition by holding the clutch (bike still in 1st gear) and the Trip Meters and Time Reset. 😥
What could by the issue?
No display (electricals) going off issue now though.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
You need to strip the bike and its electricals and connectors to check for similar shorts. Better, replace the entire wiring. It's costly at about 3k though.Originally posted by niku View PostSo took it to Service today and found that two wires have scratched and these are making contact (somewhere in common and shorting but not among themselves).Got a $5 head?
