Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR ( preparing for Ladakh )
if there is such noise with loss of power then it can be attributed to incorrect valve clearance.. get it checked again.. better change to a suitable 10w40 oil.. however as u are riding in extremely hot conditions there in bbsr, you can switch to a good 15W40 oil too.. may be from Motul..Originally posted by ice man View Post
guys ..facing KIT..KIT..KIT..KIT ..noise & sudden power drop for few seconds during long drives while acceleration or sudden accelerating to overtake ..??
1.i am using engine oil recommended by HMC
2.Adjusted tappet 2 month before
Also ask the SVC to check your clutch free play... It is unlikely that there would be clutch slippage with HMC oil; but a larger free play can result in this problem..Last edited by Bibhudatta; 08-05-2013, 04:20 PM.

1.motul 7100 FS....did not require to change the oil in my whole trip (6000kms)...just kept a track of its viscosity and oil levels and they were greatOriginally posted by itismohit View PostHey Guys,
I am making a trip to Ladakh for 3 weeks starting this August 9th.
Looking for your wisdom on tips on how to prepare my bike for it, especially for following :
1. Engine oil ? (Something that is suitable for varying weather conditions of ladakh)
2. Tyres (specially rear tyre for road grip, as I am hitting ladakh in monsoon)
3. Headlamp (Stock one is too meak, especially for nights).
Anything else, that I may have overlooked ?
I am riding my 2011 karizma ZMR, driven 8K only as i was abroad since sometime...

Hey Buddy,
I am also planning to make my trip on my 2011 Karizma ZMR for 3 weeks.
Just wanted a few tips :
1. which engine oil did u used?
2. did u changed ur stock Tyres for this trip ?
3. and Headlamp ? (Stock ones or HDI).
4. Did u needed any spares during ur trip ?
2. i rode on my stock tyres itself...and shockingly they performed decently in all the terrains...only down slope offroading in the gata loops the tyres dint have good traction while breaking...
3. Headlights....i had changed my headlights to 35w HID 4300k 14 months ago...and they are the best in my opinion that one can get on the zmr.
4. Yes i did carry the following:
- Oil (Motul 7100 10W40)
-break and clutch levers,
-acclerator and cutch cables
- tubeless tyre puncture kit.
- and a lot of tools ranging from spanners from all sizes, screwdrivers (Star and flat)
- a set of allen key
- A fixed 10 NO spanner...(T -shaped spanner)
With the ZMR be assured you will not find any technical issues...atleast i did not face any......however cold the day is..or even if its snowing outside..the ZMR will crank up with the very first press of the button...Also the 365kms stretch of NO Fuel station can be passed along easily with one full tank before you begin..(Still keep atleast 5 ltrs fuel handy)
You will not find any issues of power loss also on any pass....!! Just be careful on wet muddy terrains....ride very slowly coz any bike any tyre wud give fishtails and uncontrollable fishtails...!!!
And anytime need any help....ping me...HAPPY TO HELP..!!Regards-

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR ( preparing for Ladakh )
Ive been using the 7100FS 10W40 from the past 18,000kms..(Total completed 33,000 kms on the odo ) in both highway conditions (Rajasthan Ride, Goa ride, Leh,etc) And a daily ride of at least 100kms in city....!! The oil is a Gem...much much better than the stock oil. you can actually feel the smoothness in shifting gears and also low end knocking felt before has disappeared.Originally posted by shivakrish View Posthow is the 7100FS for city use bro.. ? also pls share the Price and its Approx life
But when you change to FS see to it that you seal you engine head bolt, your drain bolt, and your timing bolt with rubber adhesive...because on tours and long distance riding the viscosity gets a little on the thinner side and visible oil spill is observed near the bolts...(Nothing to worry about).
The FS in summers i changed at an odo of 4500-5000 kms.....and during winters and rains it is okay if you change at 6000kms...though 6000kms might be a little on the higher side...so let 6k be the last resort for your oil change...!!
The price of Motul 7100 10W40 in Mumbai is Rs.775 printed. But if you have good rapport with your oil dealer you may get the can for around Rs.725/-. Also if you buy two can together you may get a better deal.
Another thing Motul comes in 1ltr quantity and for zmr oil change the quantity to be replenished is 1.1ltrs....but 1 ltr is enough and would not make any damage to your engine.
I encountered something suspicious with thr motul oil....i started off with Motul 7100 10W40 MA2 (golden oil)...whereas my fren had said it would be red
So i mailed to the marketing head of Motul India and he said the dont make Red oils for premium 4T segment....and the oils Golden only..!!
I thought it would be a mistake from my fren and went ahead with the golden oil......after two oil changes i bought the oil from a different dealer....that was Motul 7100 10W40 MA....the "2" was missing and that oil was Red in colour...!!
Once again i mailed to the Motul Head and then he says that it was a mistake from his side previously ......and said....The oil are always RED and never golden..:-P
I then confirmed it with a few frens and they said that the oil that they use is Red....!! i cannot understand this thing...because both the dealers are my trusted dealers and the oil can was also packed original with proper Motul patented seals n all....!!Regards-

Regarding the colours
Motul 5100 - GOLDEN
Motul 7100 - RED
Motul 300v - GREEN
I think you had mistakenly used 5100 instead of 7100 because the golden colour what you had mentioned is 5100
