Want best of both worlds? PSD + acceleration? Sprocketing is the way to go! You'll lose 5-6 kmph on top end, but how frequently do you do that?
I can compromise the top end bro. No problem.
Aloke- Thanks for your review on the tyre bro. Makes me jealous!

Simota filters? I got a very bad review when enquired with dealers and mechanics, i's planning to install one but didn't wanna waste my money so yet to decide whether to go for simota, cosworth, uni or k&n..... Wats ur take on dis divya?

Abhi u can still try in jc road for a psd, it is a costly investment but totally worth it, I hav seen drop in mileage by 2kms, lost pickup but the confidence it instills in u while riding os great, so stop being jealous n get urself a psd :-)

I am not sure if there is any sprocket available for ZMR which helps in Acceleration! as only P220's and P200's are the only ones with 0.528 pitch and they come with 36T (P220 Dtsi), 37T (P220 Dtsfi) and 39T (P200) which help only in increasing the top end and will reduce the initial pick up.. whereas the other bikes come with a smaller chain size.. 0.428.. i guess thats gonna be a difficult task to find out.. unless we get a custom made.. which I think is not at all reliable.. what is the chain size and the Teeth number in the new P200NS??

Though free flow filters give the feel of bike revving freely and yep, I could feel the difference on Abhi's ride, I'm staying stock. I want to do 1L kms on my bike.
Its kind of a target for me, hence I want to stay on the cowardly side.

A very valid point. Even I haven't come across other bikes (apart from the ones mentioned) having the same pitch as a Karizma's. However, I and praj do not feel much of a difference in pick up because our rides are without chain covers (until now). Originally there was no intention of removing it post PSD installation but I damaged my chain cover while cleaning it.

I do not advocate removing it BTW. It takes a lot of care, now especially monsoons around the corner, I'll have a tough time.

          • By using a free flow filter, you have gained on power at the compromise of torque. So if you upsize now, the lack of torque will hit you on the face due to the added drag.
Thats what happened to me when I went from stock to Dunlop Monster Trail 110/90/18 at rear and Michelin Sirac Street 3.00(Rear Tire) at front i,e off road setup, but if you're planning on going for the tire like Pirelli 120/90/18 etc, then the drag will be minimal, cause its roundish and smooth.

            Edit.

Wow.. Completing 1L kms is simply gonna be awesome.. I think I will also do the same

Yup.. you are right.. when it comes to taking care of the chain, keeping the Chain Guard helps.. I prefer to keeping my Black Pearl the way she is.. and next month or the month after that I will be going for PSD.. of course after your lovely reviews on it

Are you serious?? so we can get a better initial pick up now?? how about the front sprockets?? are they direct fit?? and are you sure?? if yes.. how much does it cost?? I guess Duke's spares are better in terms of reliability compared to Pulsars, right?

              • Here you go Pulsar 230f with KTM rear sprocket (43t) - YouTube

                Thats Joel Raju's bike.

I havent found a front sprocket match yet, KTM Duke sprocket cant be purchased seperately and the kit is around 2~3k dont remember the exact cost.
I had approached CD with the hopes that I can get a custom 50T made for the ZMA, and all his works are reliable(I got my 140mains from him.) but it seems since mines a single order it would cost 2~3k max, so dropped the idea. Am hoping that the Impulse's fits ZMA, if so am happy.

That's one insane bike. <9 sec speedo indicated 100, <13 sec speedo indicated 125 and 135+ in 16 sec, of course speedo indicated. That's impressive. 230cc BB kit + FFE does play a part though. I assume this is without the DB killer right?

Pulsars have too much speedo problems in it..I was riding my ZMR along side my Friend's P220 & speed on my bike's speedo was 85kmph & that on P220 was 93Kmph..even then my bike was moving slightly ahead than that Pulsar. So touching 100 over 9 sec, according to video means roughly over 10sec..that's not astonishing fast for a rebored P230, having FFE,Air Filter & Duke's sprocket kit on it..cuz AFAIK even a stock P220 will do 0-100 in around 11sec or so & near about in that time ZMR also reaches to that figure..

Maybe its not very astonishing for you bro, but I feel happy to see mods that have served their owners well. I have been following Joel Raju's threads and I'm happy for him. He's one crazy light-weight rider! BTW, my ZMR does 0-100 in 13 odd seconds. Maybe even more. But I guess it depends on the rider's skills + weight too.

exactly..but still 13secs is very much on a higher side..
& according to me I don't mess with stock settings until I really get some amazing results out of it..may be others go for it but spending so much & messing too much with the stock setting just to gain that 1sec gap isn't worth for most of us as we are just street/highway riders rather than track racers where even 1sec counts..
the mod i do to my bike is like improving light brightness.. cushioning its seats..better tyre for gripping the surface..& these kind of mods suit ZMR as its a sports tourer..
but still everyone has a different choice & which is right so

i personally didn't like the modification.. sounds horrible.. and not much improvement.. like Diablo said.. its just not worth it for a gain of a second..

I am happy with my Black Pearl when I overtake someone.. they will just hear the sound of my chain and they won't get scared.. lol..

by the way.. Impluse chain sprocket has more than 4 holes.. do you think it wil fit?? if yes.. how many teeth does it have?? let me know your experiment I wanna try experimenting with the sprocketing too.. I liked the P220 dtsi's rear sprocket.. but the quality was horrible i had to change it in 8K kms or less and the chain was making so much of noise no matter how much I tightened the chain.. Impulse Being a Hero.. I can trust on its quality.. what say?

it depends on your choice.. why don't you take Divya's bike for a ride and see.. you might get the feel of the tire as well as bikes performance with a PSD.. then decide..
