With the ongoing topic of brakes, i have a query. What should be the condition of the disc ? I mean should be be butter smooth or should it have some kind of roughness on the surface ?
The disc on mine is butter smooth, no roughness at all..

Ride safe and have fun.

What you're missing on the ZMR is RTR's brake feel. As soon as you press the lever, it bites! Karizma has a linear braking mechanism, slight press - slight braking; harder press - harder braking. You need to get acquainted with it.
Divya bhai, Yes RTR braking was sharp as far as I concerns even with the gentle pressing of brakes it used to slower down the machine, as you rightly said i need to get acquainted with ZMR braking mechanism.

The disc should be smooth. Lines or uneven surface on the disc will wear out the pads very fast.

RTR pads and Ninja front pads are Direct fit for both ZMA and ZMR bikes. However the RTR pads form groove lines and are not effective in braking in ZMA. I am using Shriram Alpine which are good....and they cost only 120/-. It is an Organic compound pad and so far found it to be good for the last 2 K Kms.
A bad Disc Pad will cause uneven wear of Disc , and poor braking.
A flat smooth Disc offers maximum contact area for Pads to grip.

changing the braking pads of RTR 180 are direct fit or are they even compatible? will it help in braking? @psr sir or @Divya Sharan need to your help.

The stock break pads on my zmr lasted for around 12k-13k kms.... Later replaced the front pads with apache rtr break pads, but it lasted only for around 5k kms.... Also the experience with the braking was not good in my case....

Consider it a long term investment. ( ~ 12k kms ) So, you wouldn't have to change it often given its quality.

Hey everyone!
Got the second free servicing done on my ZMR yesterday, at 3169 km. Here are my observations and experiences:

1. The engine feels much more smoother! That's a great thing (since I didn't find any difference in the first servicing) but I'm really curious to know how ! Do they really do anything with the engine (besides oil change) in these free services that can make it run smoother? If it's just the oil change, then I'd have to say that apparently the Hero factory recommended engine oil is running smoother on my ZMR than the Shell Advanced AX7 I had been feeding her since 500 km on the odo! :what: from the results of this second service I'm feeling inclined to continue with the Hero oil for a few more thousands of km. psr sir, Divya Sharan, Please suggest...
2. Had reported about a resonating metallic sound coming from the silencer unit at a particular rpm range. The service center head initially tried to convince me that it's the catalytic converter sound, but later agreed that the exhaust unit was faulty, and a replacement under warranty has been promised to me! They'll be calling me once they get it in stock.
3. Apparently, the bike wasn't washed before delivery, or the washing was extremely extremely poorly done - the grease marks on the tank were right where they were when I gave the bike for servicing. But it was already petty late so I just let it go.
4. I had a very hard clutch setting from day 1. I had adjusted it to some extent with the tensioner screw on the handle bar, but the clutch play and feel was still not fully satisfactory. Now it has been setup very nicely (most likely from the engine end) on request. The gear shifts are much more smoother and effortless now.
AmoghDox, I want you to test drive my bike now and see if you feel the same improvements

PS: I had been very busy lately with my new job and some other things, so was inactive on the forums, but had been silently following all my subscribed threads for the most part.

That's because Hero oil is thinner and gives the feeling of engine revving faster. Its good for 1000 kms at max. Also, engine starts knocking in heavy traffic since 10w30 starts behaving like water under high heat conditions. Hence the suggestion to use 10w40 or 15w40 oils.

Hey Guys,

My ZMR refused to start this Friday evening. I called the service center up and they came to inspect the vehicle on Saturday. They came with a spare fuel pump and tried to start the bike by replacing the fuel pump in my bike with the spare. The bike started after that. Has anyone else faced a similar problem with their bike within the first 4k kms?

The service center people also said that they will order the spare part and it may take upto 10 days for the part to get delivered. When I asked can't it be sped up, they said that for urgent shipments, I would have to pay the shipping charges which will be 11% of the cost of the fuel pump(which they said costs 11k). Should I really be bearing the costs for this as my bike is under the warranty period? I know about the general problem about the cost and availability of ZMR spare parts but this seems a bit too much for me.

this means the fuel pump has issues, zmr did had this issue, dont worry it will be changed under warranty
