ZMR can take a 55W bulb , there is no issue with that. Rest I leave to you since the choice is already been done by you.

Well, HID without projector is not a problem for you or the bike. The beam throw would be excellent. The problem however will be for others coming in the opposite lane. In such a case just switch to low beam. No problems. And yes, it voids warranty. So what i suggest is, remove your HID kit and then fix back your stock bulb while giving the bike for service! Whole procedure would take about 15 mins that's it.

One thing I've noticed wid the beam is that now it reaches further. Maybe due to the angle/power of the bulb. Earlier, stock bulb used to cover only 10-12m in front. While this one covers around 20-25m. Huge difference + wid better illumination.

Due to finance crunch- my dad has given me a strict budget of 55-60k.
He gave two options, either to go for a used bike or a new lesser powered bike.

I was rather sceptical about investing 60k in a used bike. What do you guys think.

1. Are used ZMR's available at my budget.
2. Is it safe to buy a used ZMR?
3. If yes to second point, what are the precautions/points to note to be taken when buying/inspecting a used bike.
4. Do any of you guys know anyone in Hyderabad who is selling their bike?

Any feedback/suggestions will be highly appreciated :P

Regarding engine, i guess there would hardly be any criteria to check as its a honda and the engine is quite rugged. Ask the owner if the fuel pump has been replaced. If the bike has run 40-50k kms with stock fuel pump, then it might be risky as the pump may give up in the future and that's the only part which fails and is quite costly. Take a TD and listen to the engine if it is smooth or not. Apart from these i don't think anything else may go wrong...

My impressions on the ride so far:
The bike's heating is perhaps not felt as the air gushes out from the front. This is discussed to death, but indeed the air is blown to the front of the bike when IDLE or at very low speeds. I went on a short drive to Kanakapura road and today in painfully slow moving traffic. I am so afraid to switch off the bike at traffic signals. It refuses to start at green. I have to thumb the starter frantically like 4-5 times before it fires up again. This is a massive problem and feels terrible for a 2L plus bike. This is just bad design and KTM better find a solution to this. I am not impressed at all.

The bike just lugs in 1st and 2nd gear. In Bangalore traffic, the bike will need only 2 gears and at lower engine revs, it behaves like a retard. This is definitely not a good city bike. It's far from one. I struggled to maintain the revs above 4-5k RPM which is where the bike seems to be happy.
The bike cannot be driven in a relaxed manner at all. So, all you confused Bullet-or-KTM guys, please test drive it enough before you put your money down. According to me, a bullet can be driven much more peacefully and at ease. Performance be damned, but you have Peace.

The cruisability and in-city drive-ability of the bike is just pathetic. If there is no throttle input, it decelerates tremendously and if you open the throttle, it accelerates like mad. The bike is always on steroids and believe me, this is not a good thing always.

I have done about 100km so far; I have noise from the chain (Already lose?) and some other areas as well.

I have a mixed feeling about the bike and I may not keep the bike beyond a year. No doubt, this is a VFM bike that ticks a lot of checkboxes, but is simply not the type of bike I would love to have.
Now the waiting for the British bike to launch. Hopefully, I can afford one soon. My eyes set on the Bonnie.

Was going through a Duke 390 review. Glad I bought the Karizma ZMR. Relaxed in the city & fast enough on the highways. Will the Honda CBR400 be similar to this? or will it have diff. characteristics. I'm asking as I've read in reviews that Honda's are much more relaxed, smoother, etc than the KTM's (of course, apart from the RR series). I think this is the effect of keeping the weight lower & KTM's motocross racing pedigree.

The bike refused to stop the same way and it took almost 5 -8 selfs to start again..

I am encountering this strange problem. Initial pickup has reduced a lot and takes a lot more time to reach the 64 figure at 4k rpm but after that the bike cruises in notime smoothly till the 100kmph mark. My bike is ~33k old at 2.3 years. Any idea what could be the problem. I am thinking of clutch plates could be the culprit.

If you are getting a burning smell, then its the cluth plates. Also of you are finding the bike behave strange while using the cluch and accelerating, then too its the clutch plates. How old are these plates?

I am using Osram H4 NB 60-55v since more than a year and happy with it but no relay required!!! Why did you use a relay in your case?? Is that enhances the light intensity or where you not using H4 bulb??

ya man. I don't want a bike on steroids. For me, the ride should be relaxed albeit wid generous amount of torque, stability & high end. But, it shud not be overkill. Jus imagine the above person on a mechanical bull. It wudn't be a gr8 thing at all in the city.

Our bike was perfect. Awesome pick-up, can easily do 80-90. Only gripe I've is the tyre size shud've been increased to giv that extra stability at high speeds, which I feel is lacking a bit. But, the pros are the chain cover(not necessarily) & gud mileage. I regularly get 35-38 kmpl. The mileage & the gr8 pickup has really surprised me in the bike.

When I gave my ZMR for service yesterday, I complained about rear brake not that effective. The Hero Service guy test rode the bike & asked me to change the rear Disk Brake Pads & it costs Rs.1,200/- I had somewhere that we can pit Honda's disk brake pads on ZMR which will cost about Rs.450/-
Has anybody tried Honda's pads?

Apache RTR pads are a direct fit. Not sure about Honda disk pads.

The clamps behind the projector were not compatible with the bulb as it was a small one. So had to use a bit of m-seal which would come out when i wanted to remove the bulb. Now the bulb is fully inside and the intensity is maximum at this point. However the beam throw is still funny and not satisfactory. Here are the low and high beam pics.
PS: notice the sensor light keeps glowing? That's cause my bank angle sensor's kaput!
