FZ tyres for 220.
today i changed the rear tyre with FZ's 140/60 radial tyre. the tyre can be fitted without any modification to the swingarm or the chain guard, though its slightly wider than the stock one.
price: costs me 2600
. i know someone quoted the price of the tyre at 1950.i got the tyre from the mrf dealer and he was the only one who stock those tyres so i had no option. he showed me the price list where the price was quoted as 2600 for the rear and 1400 for the front.
looks: the tyre looks wide and really good on the 220. only disadvantage being the height of the bike has come down by about 5-6 mm.
performance: the tyre is almost the same weight as the stock one . i feel that the new tyres provide better grip, and cornering ability.braking has also improved immensely. the tyre is sticky but i didnt feel any sluggishness during acceleration. though i feel the top speed might come down. as the tyre is new i didnt push it hard, ll have to wait for the first 200 km to pass and then ll see how it behaves. for the record 220 with stock tyres does 83kmph at 6k rpm. after changing the tyre my bike was doing 80kmph at 6k. performance wise i would rate it higher than the stock one." if WRONG is a T-shirt ; then wearing it inside out doesn't make it RIGHT "

Post some pics...Originally posted by burnrubbernotursoul View Posttoday i changed the rear tyre with FZ's 140/60 radial tyre. the tyre can be fitted without any modification to the swingarm or the chain guard, though its slightly wider than the stock one.
The speed is ought to come down... Thanks to the aspect ratio... the tyre is a low profile one. it 60 % of the width... thats 84mm... where as origival tyre is I guess 90 % of 120... thats 108 mm... so the difference of 24mm is bringing the difference...
apart from that... I anticipate that this will not be even 24 mm... since the rim of P220 is not as broad as the FZ16's rim... so the tyre spread is less...
Also the rolling resistance (& the contact patch)of the tyre will be lesser than the original FZ16's... rest we guys can say anything only after seeing the pics...Why Road Safety campaigns are not impacting people?

And, again no issues with keeping the headlights on without the engine, as there is a cut-off after a few secs (about: 10 secs I guess).
Hey Arjun here .. I am happy to see guys discussing hids.. u are right in a basic setup the controller unit in 220 would think that a 35 W kind of fuse bulb ,, But a little research you can make the hid work perfectly on a 220 ..
HID low Beam in the projector and in high beam both the projector and reflector at top .. so no blind spot left when you are riding in high beam .. (no blind spot left ) .. truly HID are only useful if one rides at night and does of lot of touring .. Surely you would get a huge respect in highway from the truckers who never use low beam..
..will post some pic soon

Thankyou JI .. for the complement .. i got the LED indicators .. and Gyroscopic headlight movement .. so no more dark corners when iam taking a turn in lonely mountains at nightOriginally posted by rx100.7050 View PostSee, my second point is strong if you can understand. HIDs do make a difference in Night sir. Seriously
Also we should also give those car wallas a taste of their own medicine
.
No sir. He was an ex-XBHPian. Arjun is his name.
if you see his bike coming in night, you would mistake it as an SBK, yes, SBK
. Thats the power of HID on P220
... will show you next time we meet

Correct! But Michelin's are orignally tubeless only and you can run the tyre without the tube!Originally posted by chilled_fire View Post^^^ Siracs are not tubeless correct ?

You got 2 options, leave the stand and scrape the hell out of it so that it doesnt scrape at the corners again. Or simply remove the stand and enjoy a scrape free ride.Originally posted by yuv_biKING View PostI am planning to take my bike for a spin in Chennai MMSC Track... What all shud i take care of in the bike before i hit the track... esp the main stand should i remove it..?
Praful Bhai... Pls shed some light on this....
Do set the rear suspension at the hardest setting for the tracks, I hope ur engine oil is relatively new._________________________
