I find chain cleaning sprays very costly. So iam comfortable with kerosene.

In simple terms it is adjusting the CO. Rich AFR means CO is high and Lean AFR means CO is low.

      Technical Info:
AFR=Air Fuel Ratio. It is the ratio of mass of air to mass of fuel present during combustion.
      AFR 14.7:1 is Stoichiometric Mixture.
AFR less than 14.7:1 is Rich Mixture.
AFR more than 14.7:1 is Lean Mixture.
Generally we run on AFR slightly less than 14.7:1 for optimum performance and good life of the engine.

You can read the above post for what AFR is, and

Lean- This is when there is more air and lesser fuel than the optimal (stoichiometric) ratio
Rich- This is when there is more fuel and lesser air than the optimal ratio

This is changed via the diagnostic tool for our bikes. Or as we commonly call it CO setting.
Thanx guys it was really helpful...
but what do you say is it bad that you have rich afr??

      Comment

      • ^^ Rich AFR means more than needed Fuel.

        1. Decreases fuel economy.
        2. Dilutes engine oil.
        3. Clogs the combustion chamber, exhaust with carbon.
        4. Decreases spark plug/ignition coil life, as it becomes harder to ignite the mixture.

I guess I have given enough reasons!

And thats why I asked you how old were you.

Anyhow, using either Motul or OKS has nothing to do with chain noise. Most probably your chain is dirty and has too much slack, get the chain removed and cleaned and then get the slack adjusted.

Now this is the kind of information I'm looking at!

Have you tried putting your bike on the roller bench at PBK? If you have not, do that and post the topspeed and acceleration timing.

I am interested to see how much drop in acceleration is there in your bike. Try comparing with a stock P220 Fi sometime and let us know the difference. Once you do that, I'll post my results with just the Sirac also.

Chill. Why are u getting worked up? Kindly refrain from posting in such harsh tone next time or we would request the mods to take care of u.
U need to have patience. FYI discussion on chain has been carried on long back numerous number of times. U need to go through the thread to find some information. It is quite irritating to keep on posting the same things again and again. U have to understand this.
Your chain is either loose or dirty. Get it cleaned and adjust the slackness. Then it would be fine.

Iam doing Operation Vibration Removal. My bikes produces some distinct jingling noise from the front at above 6k rpm. It isnt from the fairing as it used to come even when the fairing wasnt there. Any pointers from where it might be coming?

I did another Operation, 'Forget the Vibrations' . Much easier this way ..

Have you checked the small heat shield in the silencer, that comes loose for most people who ride hard.

I second that. If you have a lucky P220 DTSFi with no problems, why do you wanna sell it at 27K kms.?
I say use it for another 27K&then review the condition!
